[Vandirak Hastakor]

Ithor wasn’t a terrible planet. Its great jungles formed beautiful landscapes that many would like to visit. However, since he had arrived on the planet, Vand had rarely left the Jedi installations. He had preferred to stay inside doing what he loved the most, devour any holobook he could get access to.

If he continued this way, it would be a matter of time until he finished his own collection. When it happened, the half-Nagai would seek those in the library. He also planned to buy some new ones, mostly those regarding the political and economic situation of the early and middle High Republic period. The expansion in the Outer Rim during the period was fascinating and made the entire subject his most recent topic of interest.

Due to that, it wasn’t no surprise that, while he waited for the arrival of the Jedi Master with whom he was going to a mission, Vand decided to sit on a rock and read a holobook about the accomplishments of the chancellors that ruled the Galactic Republic during its Golden Age. He only had that for two weeks, but was already on page 398. The holobook had 492 pages.

The Padawan would have readed it faster, but he had his duties as a Jedi to fulfill. Like this mission that he needed to participate in.

[Hera "The Joyful" Albion]

'Jedi Master Hera Albion,' no she didn't like that. If Hera was to be granted a 'title' of some kind, she wanted it to be 'The Joyful.' Yes, that was for sure. With a grin on her face everywhere she went, 'The Joyful' was the only real way to describe Hera. Now, walking through the jungles of Ithor, the redhead Jedi felt nothing but joy over her 'self-assigned' mission. There was another Padawan in the temple without a Master and while Hera wasn't taking on more full-time Padawans yet, she certainly had time for an extra mission or two.

Heading towards their previously noted meeting place, Hera put a skip in her step. She was told the Padawan she would be seeing was some young gentleman, half-Nagai, and preferred to keep his head in books. Books were nice, personally, Hera loved technical manuals about droids, but a Jedi needed to go out and see the galaxy too. Rounding the corner of a small copse of trees, Hera spotted the Padawan sitting on a rock with a book.

Smiling and waving, she called him over, "Hey! Vandirak Hastakor, right? I'm Hera! Come, we've got stuff to do!" And immediately, expecting him to follow, Hera turned back towards the jungle and started making her way deeper into the jungle. Once Vandirak caught up, she would give him a good look up and down before asking, "Mind if I call you just Van? Vandirak Hastakor is kinda a mouthful, but if you prefer the full name then that's fine!"

His focus in the holobook was disturbed when he heard a voice calling him. The boy couldn’t avoid grimacing when he heard the approaching Jedi Master call him Vandirak. This name was so awful that he contemplated changing it at some point. Unfortunately, the face of sadness and disappointment that his father would do when he discovered it always came to his mind and made the half-Nagai give up on this idea.

“It' s me.” he said, while getting up from the rock. “You can call me Vand, yes. I’ll not even answer if you start calling me Vandirak. Even less Vandirak Hastakor.” some people would think that he was joking, perhaps Hera would think that too. However, the Padawan was being serious. He wasn’t going to publicly associate himself with this name unless strictly necessary.

“You are Jedi Master Hera Albion, right?” he asked, while putting his datapad inside his bag. He had heard about the most recent member of the Jedi Council in the corridors of the temple. While the Padawan didn’t appreciate gossip, sometimes he ended up hearing some bits. Like the rumor about people betting how long she would remain in her position without being killed or going depressed.

“It’s nice to meet you.” he offered her a hand, while his face showed the same neutral expression that he had everyday. “What are we going to do today?”
