Weyland

Thel had chosen Weyland as the location for his training session with Shaw. The vast forests meant that a suitably remote place could be found.

He had been somewhat vague with Shaw. Only revealing details as necessary and also asking that Shaw find his own way to the meeting point. Thel, or as Shaw knew him, Krel, had a tough time during his training as a Sith. He wouldn’t make things easy for Shaw.

He brushed some dust off of his robes, taking a look around at the empty field. It reminded him of where he had first trained Param. He knew he couldn’t be as harsh on Shaw, as he had been on his old apprentice.

It had been a while since their last encounter on Keitum. He did wonder if the young force user had learnt anything since then. Even if Shaw hadn’t, Thel was looking forward to teaching someone for the first time in a long while.

More forests. And Shaw still found each tree just as awesome and just as startling as that day he had stepped off the shuttle onto Endor and seen nothing but forests for the first time in his life. Maybe a little less intimidating though. He had since discovered that he was pretty good at climbing trees.

It was this hill steep that was killing him. The view at the top had better be worth it, and Krel had better be there when he reached the top. Otherwise he had hiked all the way out here for nothing. Shaw wasn't convinced that Krel actually knew how to use a dataphone, so he hoped the coordinates he had sent were right. Shaw had followed the coordinates up by messaging back a sweet gif. Krel had just left Shaw on read.

Reaching the top of the hill, Shaw grinned. He was in the right place after all. "Krel!" he said, genuinely excited to see the older man. He raised his left arm. "Look! All fixed up!" Enough time had passed that Shaw's broken arm had finally healed. "Still the man in black I see," he added, referring to Krel's robes. Shaw thought he might have worn something a little lighter out here in the heat. Shaw was in a tank top and athletic shorts himself. One of his staples. "So how ya been?" @DMCK

Thel had acquired a data phone, in order to communicate with Shaw. He had been resistant to the idea of using a phone before. He preferred the more conventional means of communication, such as a comlink or holoprojector.

Shaw had taken to sending Thel messages at rather random times. Unless they were specifically to do with arranging the training session, he would read and then ignore them. I’m sure there weren’t gifs when I was an acolyte.

He turned when he heard Shaw’s voice. “Ah, there you are.

Yes, nice to see it’s fixed. Training is easier with all your limbs available to you.

He never really thought too much about fashion. He liked his robes and he was meticulous about keeping them washed and clean. They were practical and didn’t draw too much attention. Robes were common attire in the galaxy. “Yes, why break the habit of a lifetime,” he said, smiling ever so slightly.

I’ve been fine. What about you?” It was clear from Thel’s tone that he was quite keen to skip the chit-chat and get on with things.

"Isn't it great?" Shaw grinned. He waved his left arm around. "It's still a little stiff, but the doc assures me that's normal. Says it'll go back to normal soon enough." The teenager swiped out of the coordinates and then slipped his dataphone into his pocket. Out of sight and out of mind.

"Lookin pretty snatched," Shaw chuckled, "But I gotta admit black does suit you." It was just not a choice Shaw would have made with the full heat of the afternoon sun bearing down on them. Plus it had that whole potions master vibe that Shaw just couldn't get into. Great for Krel, just not for Shaw.

Shaw took a step closer and replied, "Can't complain! I got my own training lightsaber by the way! It's super dope." It was a few minutes of rambling before Shaw caught onto the fact that Krel was not actually interested in catching up. The older man wore the same expression he had back on Keitum, when Shaw had tried to show him his screensaver. "Anywhoooooo." Yeah, that felt like a natural transition. "Shall we get down to it? What do you want me to do first?" @DMCK

Shaw eventually seemed to realise that Thel was ready to get started. He had knowledge to offer and he wanted to teach the young Jedi.

Last time we met, you said you couldn’t even lift a rock. So why don’t we start with that. We’ll use that one behind you.

Reaching out, he used the force to effortlessly lift the rock off the ground, before setting it back down again.

Try lifting it.

This was intended as a more straightforward task. He wanted Shaw to do it without any prompting from him, though he would step in if needed.
