Per Lucid's announcement, I'm here to spread the gospel of XenForo and help everyone get ready for the change. By now you've all heard that we'll be switching over to a new framework that doesn't support the tables we know and love. And while that sucks, it really is for the greater good: XenForo is flippin' sweet and even a table-less existence on XF is way more fun and featured than what we have on vBulletin now. While it means that nearly every template we have on the site is going to break, we've come up with a couple of great workarounds and added a ton of exciting features to get everyone hyped about the change.
Stuff That Isn't Changing
The following tags will function exactly the same on XenForo as they did on vBulletin. Text formatting, spoilers, abbreviations, anchor links - they're all still here.
Stuff That Won't Work
Long story short: tables. Unfortunately, there's no way to make the same table codes we had on vBulletin work on XenForo. That isn't to say the feature is completely gone - we've come up with a few really fun workarounds - it's just fundamentally different from the system we use on vBulletin. What we have right now are very, very simple. They're good for making lists, but they are in no way, shape, or form able to be modified like the ones on vB are.
Shiny New Features!
While it isn't an entirely new feature, we've rewritten the floatleft and floatright tags. They'll work as intended on the XF site without resizing the images and making them look strange.
We've also enabled a wider range of font sizes, both large and small. You'll now be able to add a glowing effect to your text, and retain the ability to change the glow color, the font color, and all the applicable font formatting. It can be as subtle or as bright as you like, and it makes header text look fantastic.
Lucid touched on this in hist post, but one of the most exciting things about the XenForo switch is we'll have access to the entire Google Font Library. If you don't know what the GFL is, it's basically a big list of really cool fonts that web designers can use. You can find handwriting fonts, decorative fonts, fixed width fonts, and so on in the library, and using them will be as simple as using the current [FONT] tag.
BEEBOXES
(updated: jul. 06!)
After reading the feedback in this thread, I've decided to spare you all the ridiculousness of a hundred different bbcodes with my name on them. While I won't bore everyone with the details, the naming convention is a lot simpler and intuitive, and you can also do a lot more fun stuff with them. Here's a quick preview of the codes and what they do!
