With great victory comes great sacrifice. Perhaps the sacrifice of those along the walls was the turning point that the battle needed, but one thing was certain: Army Kressh now had its foothold.

Trodai somehow leapt from the battlements despite having no idea what was coming, which was a strange decision, but his landing would not be so easy as to simply wave off fate. His landing was anything but graceful as bones crunched, cracked, and snapped, robbing him of consciousness. He may not be dead yet, but there would most certainly not be any feeding on pain and suffering to continue going. He was out of the fight, and his unconscious body was one of those collected for the ritual of sacrifice.

The soldiers of Army Kressh would be able to settle in along the upper walls and felled the remaining troops outside of the wall as the sacrifice was made, leaving them to now press further into the city with its remaining defenders. Namely, the two Terentatek still carving their way through the cavalry with wild abandon.

Deeper into the city, it seemed like the potion was working, though the Force Sight that the Tundies cast seemed almost obscured as they went further in. Whether by some strange magic or protection spell, it wasn't clear, but the pair would make their way through the city cutting down the occasional guard along the way and eventually managed to find the building itself.

It appeared to be some sort of temple in which the beast masters undertook their ritual, and there, at the cusp of the temple's steps, was none other than Ashani Kurvast atop her wolven beast.

A dozen elite guard stood behind her, but her eyes seemed to almost never leave Azar.

You wretched child. Destroying everything you touch. First my sister and now a sacred city, she spat with a sneer. The power of the Force flowed around them as they moved, powerful sorcerers, Kissai, and Sith all in one place preparing to strike. The anticipation of blood feeding the sand was almost palpable in the Force.

You'll die here today, she said, drawing free a Sith sword that radiated with the Dark Side. It's precise power was unclear, but there was no question that it had some ability within it.

  • Army Kressh remaining: 2000 Grotthu, 1500 Massassi, 200 heavy cavalry, 200 sorcs, 7 trebuchets
  • Army Murzana: 2 Terentatek | 1900 Massassi and the other 5 teretateks en route

Ashani.

Azar gazed at her, taking in sight of her daunting frame perched atop that beast. No longer was she that simple, illiterate farmgirl. This was a weapon molded over time and crafted with deadly purpose. He should have felt a jolt of fear, but he didn’t. He knew this was a hurdle he would have to cross eventually. He knew it all came down to this - a sin he thought he could bury and forget.

“You disgrace Salini worse than I ever could,” Azar projected to her, channeling the Force to casually snap the neck of her mount, “Is this what she would have wanted of you? To turn from your family and become a Sadow dog?” He said icily, venom dripping with every word. Ultimately they both knew Sadow saw Ashani as nothing more than a tool. Her entire purpose in life had become about vengeance and entirely removed from what her sister would have wanted.

None of that mattered because Azar didn’t care. He had attempted diplomacy, but he wouldn’t with her. Not with the wretch that senselessly killed his mother before him and tossed her at him like a rag doll.

‘Seek out the beastmasters at first opportunity,’ He silently commanded Vossari, reminding him that this was not open for negotiation. Vossari would have to find an opening and execute those doing the ritual while Azar kept everyone else occupied. This placed Azar in tremendous danger, but there was little choice.

His first attack was at the guard behind her and not her just yet. The Force would coil around them collectively as he channeled it more powerfully than ever. His rage and wrath poured into it, along with any of the energy he consumed from the dying leviathan. Azar hadn't been this genuinely angry in perhaps years. He unleashed it all into weaknesses in their armors as the Force would crunch inwards to snap limbs in awkward directions, break bones, and make their bodies contort and cave in (warning: graphic example of what's happening from Stranger Things). His gaze remained on Ashani as he unleashed his ruthless, twisted sorcery.

The sounds beyond the mist was only panicked mounts and the ripping of flesh. Why the riders had opted to ignore his order to retreat was beyond Karys. But they wouldn’t be allowed to die unused. The mists, the blood used to create it, and the lives of the dying had been wasted. He could have used the half dead to revitalize his soldiers and sorcerers. But the enemy force was further than what he expected.

Karys hissed in annoyance.

His golden eyes roved the bodies men and women, hunting for signs of life in them. That was until he saw Trodai and watched the rise and fall of his chest. A small smile formed on his lips. Karys would order his sorcerers to release the mists and then his Grotthu and Massassi to charge the two remaining Terentatek. The remaining warriors would be ordered to bring Trodai to him.

Once his men had brought down the distracted Terentatek, he would order them to rally. Karys would gesture towards Trodai’s broken body with contempt.

<This man has betrayed us three times now.> Karys shouted. <He charged his Krayt through our lines and cost the lives of friends and family all for vain glory! Then he made an attempt on my life during the tower assaults and put some of our most elite warriors in danger! And finally he saw the impending attack on the Murzana forces coming and instead of protecting his men, he betrayed them too!> Karys shouted. <But the Dark Side provides and so this traitor will still serve a purpose in this war!> He continued as he slapped his hand on Trodai’s unconscious form. <He will revitalize the new Grand General of Ur!>

Karys began to drain the sparks of life from Trodai. He used his downed rival to fuel his own recovery. He drained the other Pureblood to the point of death, to where his brain activity was a mere blip and his heart beat was weak and slow. Karys wouldn’t kill Trodai, he wanted the rest of his existence to be shamed. Instead, Karys would leave him a cripple. Useless to Azar, his family, and even the Sith.

This was the price of betrayal.

With strength now flooding his veins Karys stood to his feet and began to issue orders to his men. The men he’d commanded and utilized carefully. The men he’d stood beside and risked himself for. The men he would use to break this final army.

Karys would order the Sorcerers to drain the life force of the remaining mounts to revitalize themselves first. Then he would order most of them to hide in the roof tops, utilizing the Dark Side to shroud themselves. The ones who seemed the most drained were ordered to collect samples from the dead Terentateks and examine them. To determine a weakness that could be utilized to kill them faster. After this they were to support his forces. This would be done on the top of the wall to ensure their safety.

Karys would order the majority of his Massassi and Grotthu to strip parts of armor, swap them with Murzana armor plates, take their shields, and hide in the houses that had been impacted by the mists. The civilians in them would be useless and wouldn’t be able to provide warning of the impeding ambush. Then the revitalized Karys and a third of his army would “Secure” the breach, destroy the ritual site, and act as the bait. At a distance the bodies around the wall would look like a mix of Murzana defenders and Kressh invaders.

The trap had to be too tantalizing to bypass and a weakened force was precisely what was needed to ensure a charge.

Once the enemy overcommitted, Karys’ revitalized Sorcerers would unleash the fires of the hells upon the Murzana force. The sounds of their burning arcing through the enemy ranks would be the signal to snare them. His hidden men would march out from their positions in a shield wall and the wall defenders would join in at that moment. The combination of Pyrokinesis and the shield wall blocking them in would ensure the deaths of countless. As Murzana defenders fell, Karys’ troops would advance inward, boxing the rest of them in.

Karys intended to kill them all. This was the price of not submitting.

@Phoenix @Sreeya @Fine Dining Set @Akheron
1. Karys force drained Trodai until he was basically a vegetable to revitalize himself.
2. Karys orders the mist released and a charge on the last two Terentatek.
3. Karys orders the Sorcerers to drain the cavalry’s mounts to revitalize themselves and then position on the roofs, hidden with force shroud. Those that can’t are tasked with finding a weakness in the Terentatek from their corpses and support Karys’ forces.
4. Karys orders his Grotthu and Massassi to swap some of the defender’s armor with their own, take their shields, and the majority to take position to ambush in the affected houses of the city.
5. Karys and the remaining third of his army man the breach to lure in enemy forces.
6. Ambush is launched once enemy forces are committed with Sorcerers using Pyrokinesis into enemy lines and Massassi and Grotthu marching inward with a shield wall formation on all enemy sides. Boxing them in to be burned alive with no escape.

Vossari's eyes never wavered as the troops came before them. The Tund sorcerers with them prepared for battle, no matter how winded, to help reclaim this ancient city. Magical power danced between their fingertips as they dropped cloaks to the ground, revealing light, rune-tinted robes. They summoned their power for the final confrontation. Vossari saw this as an opening - while these forces were engaged in a spell-caster's melee, Vossari could storm the temple and execute the beast masters, crippling the terrentatek all at once. Their army, which had sacrificed so much, was on the cusp of victory. Vossari could tell they were at the precipice of destiny, surrounded and empowered. Their troops winded, their hearts beating, Vossari wondered now if this was the end of their battle.

But when this bitch started speaking to Azar, Vossari's plan fell out the window. His eyes regarded the Tundian Sorceresses - his erstwhile companions throughout the journey. Their powers had turned the tide of battle before. Vossari linked with the ten of them telepathically. Storm the temple. Kill the beast masters. The sorceresses faded into red mist again as they teleported to the top of the stairs, ready to challenge and kill whatever their final threat was.

Vossari, meanwhile, locked eyes with the Sith. Her focus was entirely on Azar. Which meant this wretched trollop was ignoring the threat that Vossari posed. She would regret that mistake. She would regret ever even looking at Azar. Vossari's mind connected now to Azar's, as his princess commanded him to join the Tundians and kill the beast masters. This whole day had revealed a side of Azar that Vossari had not seen before - the commander. He was a leader of men who, no matter what, put the mission first. He refused to sacrifice the civilians, even though their bodies could have powered intense arcane ritual. He refused to sacrifice his soldiers pointlessly, honoring each death that this war had cost him. And now, he threatened to sacrifice himself to see the battle victorious.

This was not a price Vossari was willing to pay. He didn't respond, verbally or telepathically, to Azar. But Azar would know, too; Vossari was hotheaded, emotional, reactive, volatile...that is to say, not a military commander. He did not possess the strategic foresight of Azar and Karys. All Vossari knew was that Azar was in trouble. His eyes narrowed to thin, razor-sharp slits. The snake upon his ear rattled. The viper would strike.

As Azar raised the elite soldiers, Vossari would complement his actions. He drained the soldiers - not solely in the traditional, Dark Sider sense of stealing their essence. No, as Vossari's command over hydromancy grew, . The soldiers would become withered husks as water, the essence of life, was sapped from them. Each bead of sweat, every last tear, whatever foam or spittle from their contorted mouths leaked out. The soldiers became withered, bone-dry as the desert itself, as the water flowed their bodies to form thin, plentiful needles of water, hardened at the tip into ice. They were razor-sharp, with the explosive power of a water cannon, held taught with the force.

Vossari's brown eyes began to glow a toxic green radiance as he felt the power of Acridia wash over him. Those needles of water, too, turned green at a snap of Vossari's fingers. The drops of water still in contact with the soldiers' bodies hissed, as this acid ate through skin and armor alike. "This temple will be your tomb."

He let loose the flechette storm, with the intent to impale Ashani with acid spikes as possible. It would be an agonizing demise. Vossari couldn't think of one more fitting.

1) Vossari commands the Tundians to kill the beastmasters
2) Vossari creates acid needles and launches them at Ashani

The fight was afoot now, and Ashani was no slouch. She didn't care that one of her men was being killed, that was the price of war. They all died eventually, but she didn't want to just kill Azar... she wanted to erase him.

Even as Azar snapped the neck of her mount and twisted her man into a pretzel. Instead, Ashani lashed out, sending the Force as twisted bolts of lightning at Azar.

At the top of the stares, the Tundies and the elite guardsman did battle, seemingly evenly matched in skill, and no doubt the ultimate outcome of the fight would come down to the leaders of the army. As it always was.

But ultimately, Ashani was outnumbered and even without that was likely outmatched. Pure, suicidal rage could go quite the distance, though. Blind disregard for one's own safety in the pursuit of vengeance could cause deeper wounds than most would imagine.

As Vossari launched his acid, Ashani leapt to the side, but not fast enough to prevent her left arm and leg from feeling the searing pain as portions of her armor was burnt away and the flesh beneath was charred nearly to the bone. A hiss of pain exploded from her mouth.

---

All in all, the battle seemed to be going much better.

The attack launched by Karys to lure the enemy forces into ambush were surprisingly successful. The front ranks of Massassi were largely succumbing to the flames and the surprise of the ambush, causing many to fall.

Despite this, they weren't entirely helpless, and the defenders made a surprisingly adept retreat, falling back and out of the ambush despite a major initial loss.

Nevertheless, they were trained soldiers, and they retreated to a point in which they could manage to act once more as the defensive, holding a line that would be difficult for Army Kressh to break through.

Vossari witnessed as the lightning coursed from her fingertips as she moved, only cut off by the tendrils of acid rending flesh from body. As Ashani lashed out with twisted bolts of Force lightning at Azar, Vossari's immediate response was that of protective instinct. His focus shifted abruptly from the broader battlefield to the immediate threat to Azar. In a fluid and authoritative motion, Vossari created two barriers for the lightning to strike.

The first was the glob of acid, still controlled by him. He formed it into a small wall in front of her hands. This would, hopefully, dissipate the lightning blast as it came in. However, there was a second wall that Vossari would use to protect Azar: His own body. The Wrean leapt in front of Azar as the blast of lightning came his direction. This was not the first time Vossari had put his body in front of Azar's to protect him, but unlike their time on Tund, this time, Vossari did not have a magical shield to protect him. All he knew is that Azar had to live. What happened to him was of little consequence. Without Azar, Vossari would have still been that blind apprentice, full of rage and lashing out against everything that touched him. Without Azar, he would be lost. To sacrifice himself for this man he loved deeper than oceans was an instinct. His body moved to do it before his mind fully comprehended what he risked.

He folded his Beskar vambraces in front of his face to dissipate the blast, but he knew it wouldn't help. Dark energy struck him and surged with Ashani's hatred, ripping through his suit of sorcery and exposing flesh as it burned. Her power was amplified by her suicidality - she was going to give everything she had to fight to the death. The searing pain shot through Vossari, but he held his ground, resolved to shield Azar from the onslaught and endure whatever sacrifice it demanded. He would fight his hardest just to endure this volatile weapon.

The warriors of Murzana blundered into his trap and paid for it with their lives. Karys watched as his men butchered the defenders in ways that they would have never done under the command of Trodai. At his command they had become efficient, they had become warriors worthy of serving the Kressh House.

Karys gave a hollow, mirthless smile.

When the Murzana forces retreated, Karys ordered his men to hold fast. They wouldn’t chase them, instead they would form a shield wall themselves. Karys still had one advantage, the Sorcerers had been replenished from the mounts of his cavalry, they wouldn’t need to give chase.

Burn them all.” Karys ordered.

Fireballs were launched into the sky, controlled by Pyrokinesis their descent would be guided by the will of half of his rested Sorcerers and Kissai in his ranks. They would fall into the midst of the Murzana lines, the flames rolling outward to burn both Massassi and Terentatek alike. Perhaps strangely to the defenders, none of the flames would lick the houses or the civilians, it would turn inward to run through their ranks again instead.

Karys would force the Murzana defenders into charging his lines. For after the first volley was fired and manipulated, those sorcerers and sorceresses would step back to rest. The next volley would be fired by the other half. It would be a process that continued until the Murzana defenders either charged or broke and ran. Karys was fine with either of those options.

When they charge our lines, do not fear them.” Karys shouted. “Bring them the deaths they have earned.” He continued. “I will be beside you!

Sadowbane thrummed in his hand. But Karys’ mind floated elsewhere he sensed his husband’s distress. Through their Bond Karys would flood him with some of Trodai’s siphoned vitality. A small boost in power for whatever was to come.

@Phoenix @Sreeya @Fine Dining Set
1. Karys orders men to form a Shieldwall.
2. Karys orders first half of replenished sorcerers to use pyro to shoot fireballs into enemy lines. They control fire to avoid damage to civilians and their homes. After this the second half of replenished sorcerers do the same. The pattern repeats until the enemy army charges them.
3. Karys gives Azar some of the vitality he stole from Trodai through their Bond.

Azar should have been surprised that Vossari didn’t listen to him, but he wasn’t. He wouldn’t waste time lecturing the Wrean as wild and unpredictable as the oceans from whence he came. It was why Azar fell in love with him in the first place. The Pureblood watched as Vossari’s attack found purchase, burning through armor and searing into flesh. As Ashani prepared lightning, Azar could tell what was happening.

As Vossari stepped in front of him, Azar grabbed a particular blade from Vossari’s back, yanking it out right as he bodily threw the Wrean off to the side. This was right in time to meet the lightning with the Sith blade forged to deflect Force attacks. Azar skidded back several feet, but he had seen Cyutadakyr craft that blade. He was there that day. He knew what it could do because he helped her forge it.

In concert with the deflection, Azar capitalized on the burn wounds, superheating where Ashani’s injuries were. The effects would then cause heat and fire to explode within her wounds and deeper into her flesh, cooking her from the inside. It would feel as if lava was slowly being injected into her body to course through her insides in a brutal and unforgiving use of the Force.

If Vossari looked up from where he was tossed, he would no longer see his adorable and cutesy Princess. He would see a cold, calculated monster that was acting with surgical precision. There were no emotions, no distractions, nothing but an icy and calm resolve. It was Azar as the rumors suggested, that conniving and methodical man that could take out competition one by one before they ever knew what was happening. The man that would use whatever means necessary to get the ends he desired. No matter how cruel.

1. Azar throws Voss out of the way and uses Ruby Requiem to deflect lightning
2. Azar at the same time cooks Ashani's arm and leg using the focal point where she was burned to run the burn through her entire leg/arm/body

It seemed that Karys's strategy worked well enough, and the defending force did, in fact, make the attacking strike. Still, at the moment, with the Terentatek as well.

Army Kressh had its sorcerers, and Army Murzana had its beasties.

Enemy ranks crashed into one another and more blood was spilled. The coppery scent of blood and that ever-so-distinct smell of burned flesh filled the air. It was a smell that you could never forget and the defenders... they seemed determined. They seemed willing to fight and die for their cause, but no doubt after wave on wave of losses, both armies were struggling. Army Kressh had marched the desert almost without sleep, felled a Leviathan, and now assaulted a city. The fact was that fatigue was setting in. Resolve was beginning to waver, and they were on the verge of a moment from which there may be no return.

---

That moment when it fell to your own teammate to interrupt you from killing yourself. Yahoo.

Were it not for the blade in hand, no doubt Vossari would have never been the same again if he survived at all. Ashani, however, had no way to anticipate such a defense, and that assumption led to her flesh only being burned and torn open all the more.

Agony shot through her entire side, and for a moment her vision blurred and she thought she her body was going to quit on her. It was only through sheer force of will and hatred that she kept herself awake, burning with anger as she reached for one final thing. One last tool that might help her turn the tide as she pushed back with the Force, shoving back into Azar's mind flashes of her dead sister's mangled corpse. Images that Azar had no doubt tried to keep from his mind in the years since then. A moment's hitch in his step was all she needed.

Azar always was the brains in their relationship, anyways. Vossari watched, dazzled, as he used the war blade for its intended purpose. Azar had protected him yet again.

With Ashani focused again on Azar, Vossari would strike, to close her opening and provide a new path to Azar. He channeled the Dark Side to crush her windpipe, hoping to immediately end whatever mental attack she was cooking up.

He pointed his hands towards her and closed his fists, and the Force welled up and coiled around her throat. For all the times this had been done to Vossari, he realized this was the first time he had ever Force Choked someone. It felt immediately gratifying.

Karys pulled himself out of the connection between him and Azar. His mind had to remain focused on his duty, on his task. With Sadowbane in hand he call out orders for his few remaining cavalry units to loop around the den of battle through alleyways. They would act as a hammer to the wavering anvil of his forces. Crashing into their exposed rear and killing wherever they could.

The sorcerers unleashed volleys of Sith Lightning that arched through enemy lines. Karys finally took to the field himself. He acted as a lone monster slayer, doing his best to kill the Terentatek that rampaged in the lines. He would relentlessly hunt them.

Despite this something told him that not only his fate but the fate of his men was solely in Azar’s hands now. All he could do was hold out and fight.

Azar didn’t press off his attack, feeling the searing agony Ashani felt through the Force. The heat would course through her and cook her flesh from the inside, spreading from the point of entry to rapidly course across more of her. He didn’t relent or waver, keeping a deadly focus on her. However, when she abruptly pierced into his mind it gave him pause. Azar grunted and dropped down to a knee, his attack relenting for a brief moment.

If not for Vossari’s (@Fine Dining Set )intervention even while he was down, perhaps Ashani would have managed another attack on him. But even such a brief intervention helped, though not before Azar had a moment inside his own head.

He had already visited his memories before. He had already replayed in his mind those thoughts where he watched her get torn apart. Watched his unborn child get destroyed. But then he also thought of how Salini had been. How tender she was. How idealistic. How much unity she wanted. How naive she was. These thoughts helped him actively resist and push her out of his mind.

Azar tore out of his own head, using the Force to make Ashani drop to the ground after her entire body was in agony. He gestured for Vossari to release his hold. The Pureblood gazed at Ashani.

“I will not dishonor Salini’s memory further,” He growled at her, using the Force to tug her Sith blade to his hand. He knew she had other small weapons on her, “If you die today it will by your own hand, not my own. I will do right by your sister and will not have you on my conscience,” Azar said before he coiled the Force around her and bodily threw her far away from the temple area to safely land in the sand.

Azar walked past her and stormed the temple, coiling the Force around the necks of one of the Beast Masters to snap it. He knew it would get the attention of the others, “Call off the beasts now,” Azar said as he stood on the steps with electricity crackling between his fingers. He knew with the shard he had the means to destroy all of them at once. They would know this too. They would also see Ashani’s blade in his other hand. Azar wanted to prevent further bloodshed and he would rather have the terentatek shift allegiance and help put an end to the fighting. He knew it would cause a chain reaction if the beasts suddenly stopped - the military forces would likely stand down.

1. Azar keeps cooking Ashani, brings her near death and then tells her to kill herself or live. He throws her aside
2. Azar kills 1 beastmaster and keeps the rest alive for now, telling them to call off the beasts

Vossari and Azar finally managed to overwhelm and overcome the remaining of Ashani's soldiers and the woman herself was broken. Body and flesh twisted by the scorching, she lay there with hatred in her eyes and heart.

She couldn't fight on any longer simply because her body wouldn't allow her, but her hatred for Azar was unfaded. If she was left to live, she would return. Again and again until one of them was dead.

Sure enough as they moved against the Beastmasters it was the turning point for the battle, breaking their trance was difficult at first, but when he did, they would turn the weapon of their enemies against them.

---

The lines of the Massassi finally began to break as the Terentatek turned against them, and the battle was all but won. With their heaviest hitting force actually turned against them now, victory was gone and suicide would do them nothing.

Of course, the battle had come at high cost. From the starting force of both armies, they had been worn down by thousands, leaving the bodies of dead soldiers and beasts in their wake. Exhaustion would begin to set in across the board, but now all that was left was the final hold outs and the cleaning of the dead... and subjugation of the living.

The battle was over. The day was won. It was not a bloodless victory. Kressh, Sadow, Adas and Tund alike all bled today, the crimson waves seeping into the sand and forever becoming a part of the foundation that would give birth to his regime. There was the chill of silence, a hush of aftermath, the inhale before the exhale. He stood there silently processing, silently contemplating, standing there amidst the beastmasters that now served him.

He did not need the city to kneel. But he would have the beastmasters kneel. He would have the Sadow leaders executed. He would leave alive the leaders that bent the knee. He would start his rule henceforth and usher in a new era of a Kressh dynasty. A Pureblood on the throne once again, as it was always meant to be.

Azar found himself in the palatial chambers that housed Murzana’s leaders. Any leader that hadn’t fled had been captured and brought before him. Several names knelt and swore fealty, but Sadow was systematically executed one by one, their heads to be sent directly to Karys’ father.

He would take slow steps towards the throne upon which perhaps Adas himself sat once. Azar took a seat as one of the local leaders that he elevated to advisor, stepped forth and addressed the hall filled with members of the court and city leaders alike.

“Now presenting Arcanos, King of the five cities of Korriban, protector of the desert kingdoms, first of his name, butcher of desert leviathan, a Lord of the Sith,” He said before he took a deep bow and stepped aside. One by one everyone else in the room would kneel.
