WAYLAND
0800 Hours

Wayland is a backwater planet known for its dense jungles that provide excellent concealment of bases. One such base, for example, is home to a notorious pirate gang that is plaguing the government. On behalf of the ruling body of Wayland, two Mandalorians will go to this jungle base and eradicate the pirates.

Vod! The call goes out to the clans; it is time to continue expansion. Mand'alor the Chosen, our fearless ruler, is dissatisfied with our stagnation! She expected more from the individual clans during our crusade, but it appears the War Council must dictate our actions. There exists a selection of neutral worlds along our borders that we feel is their sublime privilege to be welcomed into our fold. As such, we will conduct activities to gain the favor of their governments so that they willingly join us. These planets will provide us with an excellent stepping stone for our push into the Core.

So the call was made. Mandalore was back in action. Their sites: Wayland. A system with jungles so dense they blocked out the sky at times. The perfect place for two previous Death Watch members to go in and cause some ruckus. Corrine Solus, daughter of the Eldar clan until being married into Solus, was itching to get back out into the fray. She'd been on the sidelines too long and was gearing to find someone to take her aggression out on.

The redheaded Mandalorian daughter was dressed in her full get up: her red and gray Beskkar'gam given to her by her father after his passing. Complete with several advanced technology options like her wrists rocket launcher and flame thrower as well as her jump boots, her enemies would be in for a real surprise. Corrine and her ex-commander Dax Rau had come in her Kal-class fighter transport so as to stay off their radar and travel on foot to the complex hidden on a mountain canyon.

Like all Mandalorians, she was not only dressed for combat but armed for it as well. On her hips were her two "Strill" blaster pistols and on her back an SGB-1 scatter blaster. In case of close combat Corrine would also be sporting a vibroblade dagger just behind her hip though she would rarely ever come to draw it. The reason being that Corrine Solus was more of a sniper which was apparent from the Westar-C1 blaster carbine she carried in her arms. She hoped to blow away and competition before they even got close. If they did, well that's what the scatter gun was for.

"I see the base," Corrine would signal to Dax via their comms. "You take point, I'll have your back."

Dax smiled as his blood turned to fire, the adrenaline setting fire to his blood. After weeks in a med bay he was jumping at the chance to see combat again. So he welcomed to feeling like an old friend. Just as he had his partner for this mission. It was true that the watch was no longer a formal squad, but they were still warriors of Mandalor.

While Cory had returned to her Solus colors, Dax had never given up on his own clan colors, Watch or not. The white and red heavy armor had been a part of him sense he had become a warrior, and gods willing he would die in it when the time came. But that would not be now. Dax took the lead, even before Cory suggested it. It was his nature to do so, to forge his own way. He held his carbine to his hip in his left hand and used his beskad in his right to cut away the larger vines and limbs of brush.

"So, are we going to talk about that kiss ?" he asked awkwardly.

As they moved forward, the Mandalorian daughter would keep her Westar ready in her hands while occasionally checking the scope for what was ahead of them. For now, it didn't seem like anyone knew they were there. In her ear, she'd hear Dax ask her about that kiss they'd shared, something she heard more as teasing. It didn't sound like him generally wanting to know.

"Now is not the time for that," she responded in an annoyed tone. "We're on a mission right now."

Dax wanted to pry a little deeper into the issue but the mission came first, literally. The jungle opened to them, revealing a small camp under the an opening in the tree canopy. There was little to it, just a few tents and some light emplacements. A couple of speeders, not much.

"Ok then, kill some pirates and then we talk."

Dax would then lift his right arm and fire his wrist rocket into the first tent. Not waiting for the rocket to impact, the commando activated his jetpack. Launching into the air above the camp. He aimed his carbine to two roaming pirates and fired. Dropping the first pirate with a bolt to the chest and he second with a hit in the back.

"That's two!"

The one thing Corrine Solus did not like about Dax Rau was his impatience. They'd only now just gotten to the campsite of the enemies and sure enough he went in guns blazing. No scoping out the scene, no giving Corrine time to find a better vantage point. Nothing. Just a well placed rocket that blew up their tents. Groovy.

The whole place erupted with motion as pirates came to realize they were being attacked. Dax fled to the skies with his jetpack giving a perfect distraction for Corrine to move. She tucked herself behind the tree nearby and raised her Westar to fire at some of the pirates shooting at Dax above them. She picked off one with ease, another in the side as he ran around into her line of sight, and then clocked a third who'd literally walked to the other side of the tree to escape the campsite. She heard Dax count his kills off in her ear but she didn't respond.

Moving her gun out of the way Corrine would raise her left arm and steadily focus the rocket of her own towards the speeders she noticed only now. The rocket sailed quickly into the chaos and blew the engines causing an even bigger explosion to shake the ground. Corrine smirked and moved from her cover to find another grouping of trees to hide behind. While a few could have followed the rocket's path, she figured the explosion would be enough to distract them to not see where she went next.

Dax was dodging small arms fire like an interceptor fighter avoiding AA. A fact more ironic, given the fact that he was not a very good combat pilot inside one of thought ships. Still, he rolled out of the way for a three shot burst. Sending two of his own toward the shooter. Clipping the pirate in the arm.

More fire came in and the commando was forced to land, just as a speeder sent up a wall of smoke after exploding. Dax was not behind a stack of creates, food stuff if he hand to guess. Two foolish pirates ran around to try and overwhelm his cover, he met them with his flame thrower. Killing both with a burst of fire.

"You going to play along, or are we just going to assume I'm buying after ?" he commented playfully.

Getting back to his feet. Dax quickly aimed and fired. Shooting a pirate in the head at 20 meters across the came, and another in the back as he ran for yet another speeder. Switching the jetpack to combat mode, he then leaped to said speeder. Armed and dropped a grenade, and then leaped away firing wildly at anything that didn't look like Cory. Landing near her and behind another tree and the speeder exploded.

In her ear she heard Dax prodding her to play along with their murder count. Something the old Corrine would love to do. Now, not so much. But her playful banter came out a little when she replied, "Oh you're buying? Thanks, pal!"

From her new position she couldn't see the tents as well, but they weren't really focused on her just yet. They were too worried about the bug in the air. Corrine moved from her safe position and went around the bend to get a better angle and then began picking them off again as Dax came to land while tossing a grenade. In the flash of the bomb, she looked away only for that moment before turning her attention back to the chaos and firing into the mist of smoke and fire.

Dax would then land near her and Corrine curled behind one of the trees on the other side of him. She dropped the clip from her gun and quickly reloaded it. She didn't want to switch weapons just yet, but she also didn't feel like wasting all of her Westar ammo. She loved that gun and would hate to be out of juice when she needed it the most. Giving Dax a nod when she was ready, she moved from the tree to actually move further away from the campsite rather than run back into the heat of it all.

The reason being, not that she was being cowardly, was because she'd be the distraction this time. They were looking for a Mando, possibly two, and they saw one head into those trees. So the faster, more agile little one, would rush into the treeline allowing them to thus give chase, and Dax to either counter them up close, or follow from behind. His choice. But she wouldn't turn tail forever. She just wanted to get some distance. After about twenty meters she dropped to a knee while turning and aimed her Westar down the hillside and began firing at the pirates giving chase. She pegged one right in the chest. It gave away her position quickly, however, and the others took cover into the trees. She knew it would happen, but she stayed planted where she was to keep allowing Dax to flank them from behind.

"Come on, Rau," she said to herself. "Don't let me down now. I don't want to die out here." That was the problem with going in only with a two man team. No back up.

"Wha..wait.."

He stammered, babbled really. Turning from the tree he was tucked behind, he fired wildly toward a few group up pirates. Catching one with a double tap to the chest and forcing two others to duck for cover. Dax would then tuck back behind the tree again. Looking over to Cory, she gave him a nod but said nothing. Then the was off like a rocket.

"wha..shit."

Quickly he burst out from the trees again. Firing at a sniper peeking from a tent, then two more who looked like they were going to spray and pray in Cory's general directions. If she was trying to get the pirates attention is was working. Dax's carbine suddenly stopped firing. Just as a pirate jumped from cover with a vibro blade.

Dax ejected the charge like a magazine into the pirates face. Causing the man to flinch, and allowing the commando to pull his quickdraw and fire into the pirate's gut with yet another double tap. He would then holster the rifle on his back and the pistol on his hip. Then pull and activate both smoke grenades he had on him, tossing them toward's Cory's path.

Under the cover of smoke the last few pirates would have a hard time finding her. Dax pulled his quickdraw once, as well as his beskad.

Cory would see little and hear nothing but bloody screams and blaster fire. Coming ever closer until finally, the white and red armor of Dax emerged from the grey smoke. "Have I ever let you down before ?"

The smoke grenade was a good assist. It helped her vanish into the trees and get lost in the direction of the pirates. Moving from her spot again she adjusted slightly to her right to move more at an angle towards the site and crouched behind the cover of a tree. She began firing into the smoke figuring she'd hit a pirate or two as they came out. It worked like a charm for each body was totally caught off by the blaster bolt while they tried to escape from the cloud.

She would then wait as the chaos in her earpiece died down and the fog would start to clear. Keeping her finger on the trigger she waited for any signs of movement in the smoke while watching with both eyes -one in the scope, the other keeping a further bird's eye view of it all. Finally she saw the clunky look of a Beskar'gam and lowered her finger ever slightly. She knew it was Dax even before he emerged. None of the pirates were wearing armor like that.

In her head she heard Dax ask if he'd ever let her down. She smirked, feeling like she was just thinking the same thing. "Oh what? Are you boasting now?" she'd say trying to tease him like one of the boys would do.

"Well, that and you left your comms open." he said with an obvious grin under his helmet.

When the smoke was completely clear, Dax put his weapons away and turned to look at the destruction the two Supercommandos has racked up. The speeders were destroyed two tents were as well, any every man or woman in the camp was dead or dying. It was hard to say rather or not they had managed to kill the leader or they had escaped the attack. It made little difference. The gang was finished, the point was made and the job was done.

"Let's get back to the ship. Soon as we get back to Nar Shaddaa I'm buying."
