Fresh out of the spaceport!

Recently I've been feeling my Star Wars oats again with all of the excitement around the new movie and video game (Battlefront). With nostalgia only worsening daily like some kind of anti-study disease, I've wanted to find an outlet to do something other than write my thesis.

It's been a couple of years, but I used to really love board-written roleplaying, and Star Wars is the only type I've ever been interested in or engaged. After all, if you stayed up late to watch the movies with your Dad (or Mom or both!), you'd gravitate back each time to bring back those feelings. Originally I played online on a couple of servers of the Jedi Academy game then SWG before both petered out by 2010. Then I switched to forum based where I lingered until university life lovingly consumed my soul! Of and on I've been roleplaying SW I guess 8ish years.

Anyways, I'm eager to learn about the various characters and get involved. In the meantime I've already begun developing my own - though apprehensive because of murmurs regarding a new timeline. Any advice?

Welcome to the site! There are lots of stickies around that will help in understanding current lore and the process of a character being accepted into whichever faction they aim to join.

The site is going to revamp the current storyline to a completely different timeline sometime in January. Their goal is to make everything canon since the new movie is coming out. If you look around there are plenty of threads discussing this as well.
