Tynian sat in one of the many meeting rooms in the Jedi temple.
This was a comfortable room... it didn’t have the hard table with folding chairs around it, but rather a couple of couches that faced each other, with a shorter table for placing one’s drink on it, in the middle.
The Jedi Knight has requested a meeting with the Jedi Master Wolfe in regards to the recent “declaration” from the republic chancellor. As well as the bounty that was now on his head because of said “declaration”.
Tynian didn’t mind the bounty as much, but what weighed upon his heart was the fact that the Jedi, once known as peacekeepers and helpers to the weak, were now considered outlaws by the Republic.
His thoughts went to his friends, his brothers and sisters in the Order who would be in need of help in defending themselves and their own honor in the face of this tragic event... even his own former master’s life hung in the balance.

While waiting for Master Wolfe to arrive, he used the force to calm his nerves and ease his mind... No good ever came from being rash. This was the most important time to think clearly and deliberately... and to seek help.

There were few in the Order indeed who hadn't seen the Chancellor's address to the Galaxy. Those who hadn't were quickly made aware of is as the news spread like wildfire through the Academy on Tython. More than anything, it raised questions — some of which couldn't be answered. The Council was likely going to convene and discuss the Republic's act, deciding what the best course of action would be for the Order. They would simply need to be patient until such things were decided after meditation and thought. However, although the Jedi as a whole were branded outlaws and agents of evil in Republic space, there were some Knights in particular who found themselves on an official bounty board. Having a price on one's head would be, quite frankly, terrifying. One of these Knights, Tynian, reached out to Austin for advice and reassurance.

The Jedi Master strode through the halls of the Tython Academy, smiling and nodding at those who recognized him and bowed in respect. It was odd to Austin, knowing that more than a year ago he was a largely unknown healer confined to the infirmary on Jedha. The Force indeed worked in mysterious and marvelous ways. It was not long before the doctor reached the door to the designated meeting room, whereupon Austin entered to find Tynian already waiting for him. He approached the couches, taking a seat opposite the Knight.

"Good afternoon, Tynian," he greeted. "It has been some time indeed since we first met on Jedha in those crystal caves." Austin paused for a moment, sensing a great deal of conflict and emotions surrounding Tynian — albeit disappearing rapidly. "I see you are committing your feelings to the Force, and therefore I commend you. Do not blame yourself for what weighs on your mind; these are indeed uncertain times for the Order." A quiet and hesitant knock resounded across the room, and Austin turned his head to see a youngling standing at the door.

"Master Wolfe, you asked for a drink to be sent here?" he asked timidly, holding a tray with two mugs and a steaming pot of tea. Smiling, the doctor beckoned the youngling over to the two Jedi. "Yes, I did. Thank you, young one," Austin replied, patting the boy on the shoulder as he excitedly walked over and placed the tray onto the little table. Standing back and making a short bow to both Jedi, he rushed out — likely to return to his training or studies. Taking the pot and pouring the hot beverage into a mug, Austin held it in both hands and looked across at Tynian once again, welcoming the Knight to have some as well.

"Though I have a general idea of what troubles you, please elaborate to me. I would like to hear your thoughts and concerns face-to-face." Leaning back into the little couch, Austin maintained a warm and welcoming expression. He wished nothing more than for Tynian to feel at ease while confiding in him.

Tynian stood and bowed respectfully when Master Wolfe entered the room. As the Jedi Master took a seat, and before they could get started, a younglings came in carrying a tray with a tea pot and a pair of cups on it.

After the boy left, Wolfe poured himself a cup and then asked Tynian to explain his feelings on what was obviously weighing heavily on his heart and mind.
Tynian cleared his throat slightly as he began. “I appreciate you meeting me here Master Wolfe. I’m sure you have more important matters to take care of than just talking to me, so I will try to make this as expedient as I can.”
He didn’t touch the tea, but continued instead.
“I admit the Chancellor’s decree was quite alarming. Since I’ve thought the Jedi and the Republic have always maintained a good working relationship. And now we are to be considered outlaws? There’s got to be an explanation as to why he would do this. And to top it all off, now I have a price in my head, which I admit is concerning to me.”

He wanted to make sure the Master would see his concern more for others than himself...”It’s concerning because of a couple of things. One, that those around me could get hurt because of the bounty. And Two, that I may not be able to fulfill my responsibility to the Order. I don’t want to go into hiding, and I certainly don’t want to endanger anyone who I may be going on missions with.”
He hoped he was making his words make sense... “And for my brothers and sisters in the Order who may come under attack because of this. I want to protect as many as I can... I’m just not sure how.”

He wanted to say more, but he didn’t want to miss anything Master Wolfe would have to say.

As Tynian began to speak, Austin gave him his undivided attention. He also noted how the Knight didn't take anything to drink for himself, likely a sign of his anxiousness. Or that he simply didn't like tea. The doctor nodded his head at Tynian's appreciation. As a Master, Austin had a duty and responsibility to the Jedi of their Order and their well-being. "I have nothing pressing on hand," he replied to the Knight's first comment. "Do not refrain from speaking your mind fully." Austin gave Tynian a small nod and smile in encouragement as he explained what troubled him.

The man before him understood quite well the position that the Chancellor had put the Jedi in. Perhaps more than most as he was singled out with the bounty. Once Tynian had finished speaking, Austin remained silent in thought for a moment as he contemplated a response. Calmly blowing on his tea, he took a small, tentative sip so he wouldn't burn his mouth. Austin sharply exhaled as the beverage was still scalding hot, and he placed it on the table. "I believe that the Chancellor has been pressured into outlawing the Jedi. It is no small secret that the Sith are very powerful, and with war breaking out between the Cartel and the Republic, they cannot fight two fronts. I am...unsure whether the Sith are supportive of the Hutts or not, but regardless it seems logical for them to put pressure on the Republic."

Austin paused for a moment, watching the steam from the tea steadily rise and dissipate. "Tynian, know that although the Chancellor may brand the Jedi as outlaws and enemy spies...there are many supporters of the Order within the Republic. Though the Chancellor likely has had few dealings with us, there are many Senators and GAR forces who have worked along side us. The Sith also consider us nothing better than vile scum — do not let the opinions of others affect you. We are Jedi, and above all our purpose is to serve the Force — not appeal to the whims of a man at the head of a nation."

As for Tynian's secondary concerns, Austin could understand why he was worried. "While I would not say that we must go into hiding, I do think it is wise for us to accept and abide by the Republic's rejection of the Order. There are many other systems that need our assistance other than ones in Republic space. Those worlds are under the protection of the Senate, and therefore their responsibility. While we still must be watchful for the Sith on our assignments, Republic agents will do us no harm as long as we stay outside of their borders."

He sighed thoughtfully, picking up his tea once again and swirling the slightly cooler beverage around. "Although there are indeed many who we should help, the Chancellor has closed that door for us. I am no expert on their laws and legislation, but I surmise that it will not be long before the Senators begin an investigation. The decree did not seem to go through any of the normal channels of discussion and vote." Having finished speaking for the time being, the doctor fell silent and allowed Tynian to voice any further concerns he had. These were uncertain times indeed.

Tynian was grateful for the conversation. And Master Wolfe had gained his respect for meeting with him. The answers given were sound and did help ease the Jedi’s mind a bit.
“I hope I didn’t sound fearful. I know as a Jedi my purpose is still to help those in need. But because of the supposed price on my head, doesn’t that put them in danger as well?”
Tynian certainly was not a quitter nor did he intend to quit. His main concern was for those who would be associated with him.
“Maybe I need to set my feelings aside and focus more on helping the Order. So my next question would be, how can I help?”
His question was genuine and not at all self serving. He truly wanted to help the Order during this tough time.

Chuckling at Tynian's first response, Austin replied, "It does not matter if you sound fearful, only whether you are." He looked intently at the Knight, but not unkindly. "Remember, though fear is a natural just as all emotions are, do not let it control you. Feel it, accept it, but if it begins affecting your actions, then it will lead you down a terrible path." Tynian likely knew this well, but it did not hurt to reiterate it. Talking about it and actually experiencing a powerful emotion were two different things, and they could all do with reminders from time to time.

"It is...possible that those you help could be in danger," Austin continued, leaning back in his chair with his tea. "Though unlikely, I think. Bounty Hunters and the like would be searching for those who were close to you, not those who you may have met once or twice." Austin smiled at the Jedi. He was certainly determined to do what was right — which was a good quality. The Order needed more people like Tynian.

"For the time being, be mindful of where your assignments take you. Stay away from locations that will attract too much attention — it might bring bounty hunters straight to you. I know that there will be a Conclave held here some time soon, perhaps we will all understand then how we can all help the Order." Finishing, the doctor took a large sip of his drink. It had cooled significantly and was much easier to drink now.

Tynian nodded in understanding. His helping the Order was the highest priority, especially under the current circumstances. So in his heart and mind he set aside the worry for the bounty, and then refocused on the task at hand.
“Master Wolfe, I am grateful for the advice and conversation. I will do my best to heed your words and not let this bounty affect my ability nor my oath to the Order.”

He then leaned forward and poured himself some tea. The thoughts of worry and doubt poured out from him, much like the release of the tea out of the pot.
In its place was a resolve to see this through and to help the Order in any way possible.

“Is there anything I can do to specifically help at this time? Or should we wait til after the Conclave?”

At Tynian's thanks, Austin bowed his head serenely in response. It was good to hear and feel that the Knight was letting go of such worries — holding on to such things would only be a detriment to him. Tynian further asked if there was anything at this very moment he could do to help. Taking a drink of his beverage, Austin replied, "I would spend this time you have before the Conclave wisely — in meditation, practice, and study." He placed a hand on the tome that was strapped to his left side.

"I find that reading a book is an excellent method of honing my skills as a Jedi. Though I am a Master, there are always ways that we can better ourselves as Jedi. Caladglær has taught me many things." Running a hand along its ornately carved spine, he reflected momentarily on the most recent chapter he'd studied on Aerokinesis. "Though our library here is not as extensive as the Ossus Archives used to be, Councillor Guleya has recovered much of what was thought lost. Perhaps it would benefit you greatly to peruse what Tython has to offer."

As for the Conclave, Austin himself did not know when it was going to be taking place. Though he was a Master, he was certainly not privy to the discussions of the High Council, nor their plans for the Order. He would simply trust their decisions, knowing that they were guided by the Force. "Though one may call myself biased, as I am a doctor," Austin chuckled, "The infirmary could also use more helpers. Many become sick or injured every day — if you would like to further your skills in healing, of course." The doctor had little knowledge of Tynian's specific expertise, but it certainly did not hurt to have more Jedi skilled in the art of mending wounds and tending to the needy.

Tynian's interest peaked. He was always honing his skill as a fighter and saw himself as a future combat specialist. And to that end, he studied in order to help those in need, it had never occurred to him to put his ability in the force to heal people. He felt that same stirring in his soul from where his purpose was born. "I have been so focused on honing my lightsaber skill and learning about different styles of combat, I never thought about the healing part... So I would be honored if you would teach me about the healing aspect of the force Master Wolfe."
The decision to learn seemed easy to Tynian. Like he had opened a new door in his journey that was waiting for him all along. It would aid him in becoming the best Jedi he cold be, and also aid him in what he felt his true purpose in the force was.

A wry smile tugged at Austin's lips as Tynian asked the doctor himself to teach him the ways of healing. It had actually been quite a long time since Austin had visited the infirmary...being granted the rank of Master was indeed a great responsibility. "I appreciate your enthusiasm, Tynian," he replied, setting his now-empty mug onto the small table between them. "However, if the discipline of healing is one you truly wish to explore, then I recommend first studying its basics and reading on anatomy of humanoid species. I have...many things that I must do now that I am a Master, and though some day I may be able to teach you more advanced techniques, it will likely not be soon. After the Conclave, I have an investigation to continue with Galahad." The doctor's mind drifted to their work, which had long been prolonged since the two had been on Corellia.

"Furthermore, I am presiding on the Trials of Mastery," Austin finished, getting up slowly from his seat. "There are more Knights in our midst who have put their names forward to be tested." As he turned to the door, the doctor looked back once more upon Tynian. "Perhaps that will be you someday. Good afternoon, Knight, I am glad I was able to answer some of your questions regarding the Chancellor's address. May the Force be with you."

Tynian stood and gave a respectful bow to Master Wolfe.
Knowing he would take the Jedi’s advice to heart, he just simply answered, “And to you as well Master.”
