Friendly In-Faction PvP

Hey there, and thanks for taking the time to read up on this little post. The purpose of this is to explain a new little endeavour of ours, so sit back, have a little read and enjoy!

The Goal of This Timeline​

In the Dawn of the Republic timeline PvP plays a very important role. The only way you will be climbing to a rank higher than Sith or Sister/Brother is through PvP. Helping the faction by participating in conflict missions, signing up for battles with other factions, usurping someone and proving that you deserve the rank, and other such things. The idea this timeline is that if you achieve the rank of Sith Lord, Commander or something higher then you’ve not only earned it, but can defend your right to it through PvP.

The problem with all of this is that not everyone is really into PvP, and a lot of those that are into it are also intimidated by the prospect of their character potentially dying. And that isn’t something we want. We want people to enjoy getting into trouble with other factions and other players. We want people to enjoy PvP and to fight their way up the ranks and prove they are the mightiest of all.

The Goal of This Initiative​

So what does any of that have to do with what we’re doing here? Well, it’s simple. We’re going to be running official PvP bouts. The majority of these bouts will likely be no death and no serious injury bouts, and are mostly designed to get people used to the idea of PvP and to give you an environment to practice your skills without actually risking your character, so that when you do sign up for that conflict mission or that main battle thread you have a better idea of what you’re doing, you’re less nervous and you’re better able to not only survive the encounter, but emerge victorious.

Now, with all that said, not all of these bouts will be no death and no injury. This system will also be used as an official way for someone to challenge a higher authority for their position, if they wish to go with that route instead of something more devious and sneaky. Be warned, though. If the higher-up you're challenging doesn't think you're worthy of their time, they may just ignore your challenge. The idea is that it will be used as a method for two characters to settle a gripe or grudge they have; as a way for people to practice their PvP skills in a relatively safe environment; as a way of gaining a higher position through honourable combat; and as a way of getting newer, less experienced members more used to the idea of PvP.

So! I hope that’s something that interests all of you, and I hope you participate, whether it be for practice, to settle an IC grudge or even to steal someone’s position through honourably proving your character is powerful enough to deserve it. I would assume you could ask if anyone was interested either in here, on the regular Sith OOC board, or in Story OOC board and then if someone wanted to, start a thread in the story board. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's what I assumed was the plan.

We're going to sort things out officially soon, maybe create a thread where people can sign up for friendly PvP and others can go "sounds like fun, let's go." For the time being, don't be afraid to post anything in the OOC boards if you want RP or PvP practice or anything.
