Music​

A small stack of printed posters tucked under an arm, a staple gun in her other hand, and music blaring a little too loudly on her headphones, Tahiri dodged and weaved her way through the courtyard. Her target was the bulletin board that was placed on the north end of the courtyard, one of many scattered across the temple premises.

Stepping out of the way of a large wooly fellow carrying a crate that looked like it weighed five times what she did, Tahiri reached the bulletin board and stapled on a poster before stepping back to take a look at it.

MUSICIANS WANTED!!​

"Yeah," she muttered to herself as she stared at the poster, "that should do it."

[River Kesyk]

With her stomach beginning to rumble and class having let out for the day, River walked the halls of the Yavin temple and headed for the courtyard. She was wearing normal clothes and head headphones stuffed into her ears, blaring one of her favorite songs.

Head bobbing and mind in the clouds, Riv hit the courtyard and noticed someone putting up a new notice on the bulletin board. Walking up behind Tahiri, Riv would accidentally be singing just a little bit louder than she thought she was.

Pulling out her headphones, Riv moved closer to the bulletin board and her eyes went wide with excitement. Turning to Tahiri, she'd flash the girl a wide smile, music still blaring from the headphones now hanging around her neck.

Are you starting a band?? She asked, though the notice had kind of already told her that. Riv was just too excitied. I don't know how to play but I can totally make some awesome logos for you if you want! Riv said, pulling a sketchbook out of her backpack and showing it to Tahiri. not even really stopping to give the girl time to answer or even tell River that she wasn't interested in it.

What kind of music do you like? Another question, rapid fire. Normally River was a little shy when talking to new people, but something about Tahiri set her at ease. Plus, the idea of drawing stuff for a kickass band just got her so revved up.

What kind of music River liked would be pretty obvious, the same band still playing from her headphones, though a new song this time.

[Maura Starwalk]

Maura had recently gotten her sticky little fingers on a new toy. Until this point, she'd only ever had wired earbuds, and she always managed to break them after a week. If she magically managed to take care of them, they would just stop working on their own. It was an endless cycle, so one day, she'd had enough. Using her meager allowance, Maura had purchased a pair of wireless headphones.

They were bright yellow, red, and blue, which fit perfectly with her love of bright colors. The red wasn't the same hue as her hair, but it was almost a perfect match with her J's. Unfortunately, and unbeknownst to Maura, they weren't the famous "Beats by Dre" she thought they were. The iconic "b" was flipped backward to a "d", but she hardly noticed.

Classes were finally out, so of course, she had to put them to good use!

The rainbow-haired kid skipped along, hands in the front pockets of her jeans as she made her way back to her room. The headphones she wore were slapped on over her pointed ears, playing one of her favorite tunes.

HE WAS A SKATER BOY! Her hands jumped out of her pockets to mock playing the drum as she walked along. Maura switched between that and mimicking the guitar, thrashing on an imaginary instrument. SHE SAID SEE YA LATER BOY!

Her big black eyes eventually noticed the two girls over by the bulletin board, mostly because the one with white hair began pulling stuff out of her bag. Ever curious, Maura swung herself around and changed direction, wanting to see what was up. Musicians wanted? Like a band‽

Maura yanked her headphones off her head and asked, "ARE YOU STArting a band?" Her big eyes stared up at Tahiri and River, excitedly waiting for the answer. "Can I join‽"

[Tahiri]

Tahiri was still inspecting her handiwork, wondering about ways to jazz it up a little when she noticed someone step up to the board. She wasn't sure if the white haired girl was inspecting her poster, but then when she spoke up an excited grin appeared on Tahiri's face as she realized she was!

Her first impression, based on the girl's outfit alone (which was in sync with what Tahiri herself was wearing), had been great! What followed, based on the girl's confession that she couldn't play, was less stellar. But what she said next was another hit, and two out of three was more than enough for Tahiri to realize she liked her. But before she could say anything the girl fired off more questions, before finally introducing herself. All Tahiri could do was stand there as the grin on her face just widened, something about the girl's excitement was contagious, and there didn't seem to be any possible reaction other than sharing in that excitement. Guess it was three out of four now.

"Here," she said as she responded to the most important question River had asked, pulled off her own headphones and handed them to River, "swap!" Swapping headphones and pressing River's pair against her right ear to listen to what the other girl was playing, Tahiri's eyes widened as she not only recognized the song, but realized it was one she loved. "Duuuude!" Was all she could say before the chorus kicked in, and her mouth stopped working as the music took hold. River, if she gave Tahiri's headphones a listen, would find her player to have skipped to a new song as well.

"I love this song!" Pulling the headphones away from her ear, she waiting for River to give her music a listen, before finally remembering her last question and introducing herself. "I'm Tahiri, and I'd lo.." Before she could complete that sentence the two padawans were assaulted by an explosion of colors that made Tahiri do a double take.

"Uhh, yeah, sure. You can audition." She replied after giving her brain a moment to reboot. "I'm Tahiri, this is River. Musician," she pointed at herself, before turning the finger on River, "artist! What's your story?" She almost added a kid at the end, but thankfully stopped herself in time before she inadvertently channeled her mother. That definitely wasn't something she wanted on her plate right now, just because her sixteenth birthday had just passed didn't mean that she was getting old.

[River Kesyk]

Totally! River exclaimed with a furious nodding of her head as Tahiri suggested they swap headphones.

Listening to the other girl's music, River couldn't help but smile as she grooved. Dude, this song is awesome. I've never heard it before!! You have to send me more of their stuff.

While she was reaching for her datapad so she could swap numbers with Tahiri, River noticed that another, much smaller Jedi had joined up with them. Looking down at Maura, Riv flashed her a smile as she handed Tahiri back her ear buds.

I like your headphones! Ohh, and your hair. She said, putting her sketch pad back in her backpack. And that song rocks. I listen to it all the time.

Suddenly, River was reminded that she was hungry when her stomach growled so loudly that both Maura and Tahiri probably heard it. You guys wanna get something to eat? She asked, not wanting to leave the group just yet. We could talk about the band and stuff! I've got so many logo ideas. Do you have a name for the band yet, Tahiri?

Maybe eventually River would stop talking a mile a minute, but for now she was just too dang excited.

[Clove Vanhoop]

Classes had just finished, but Clove wasn't in school today; she'd found a, dare she say, part-time job at a perfume brand's call center. It wasn't the most glamorous job, but she needed the money for the spine cybernetic she had planned. And with her studies for her medical license and daily rehabilitation, the half-Sephi didn't have much time left.

Obviously, she still made an effort to join important classes and complete her homework. Or tried, anyway.

Clove's workday was over, and she had some free time before her next rehabilitation session. Clove began her journey to the dorm room in an everyday dress, some way-too-high black heels, and her floral corset for support, passing through the courtyard along the way.

Her pointy ears twitched at the sound of several voices, grabbing her curiosity almost instantly. With a tilted head, she steered the chair to the right around the corner, where she noticed a group of girls standing next to a poster. One of the girls, based on her rainbow-colored hair, was Maura. The others, on the other hand, were total strangers to her. They both had beautiful hair, though! Not as vibrant as Maura's, but still lovely.

Clove approached the poster first, a curious look in her large brown eyes, just to figure out what was going on. Are they making a band? Oh! She could totally get behind the message of strumming the guitar rather than fighting. But, sadly enough, she lacked any musical skills. Dancing was one thing, but singing or playing the piano? Dear Force. Still, she turned her chair around, careful not to roll over anyone's foot, and danced her gaze towards the girls. Because she had one skill that could have come in handy.

She could sew.

"Hey! I hope I'm not interrupting anything, sorry! But are you the ones from the poster?" She said, her ears flattering up and down with. "I can't really... play anything, but do you want some matching outfits or uniforms? I can help with that. If you want, anyway!" Clove's lips curled into a shy smile as she fiddled with some of the hair extensions that were supposed to replace the mane she'd lost. She'd never been in a proper group before, well, aside from her little group with Arctus and Ruz, so she was admittedly a bit timid, if not nervous.

"Oh, how rude of me. I'm Clove!"

[Dimetri Unduli]

As he had been leaving his room, he wanted to take a walk around the temple. Get to know the area around. Get a feel for the new warm environment. Something about this new planet offset him but he figured some time away from all of the classes and atmosphere would give him some peace. So after grabbing his headphones and his dataphone to listen to his demos he made, he'd take a walk down the halls.

His attire fit for the casual look he had on the regular. In his right hand was the case that held his acoustic guitar that he had named Sundara. His left hand remained in his jacket pocket as he walked around a corner to see a group of girls all talking about something. He couldn't quite hear them, but he stopped on the other side of the hall to see a poster by them. A band it seemed.

Interesting..

He would reach up with his left hand to grab his headphones and take them off his ears letting them rest on the back and around his neck. After taking a look around at the girls, one clearly a child, one paralyzed it seemed, and the other two he hadn't noticed much different about them. Some band it would be to see.

He pulled out his dataphone and zoomed in on the poster to get a picture of it. Something for him to think about. Might be fun. Music was a safe haven for him, letting loose and sharing his gift might be exactly what he needs. Who knows.

[Maura Starwalk]

What's my story? A brief look of bewilderment flashed across the kid's face. Like where I came from and stuffs? She would have to summarize! "Uhh so my name is Maura and I lived in an orphanage then Master Lorrek came and brought me here and now I'm a padawan!" Maura gave Tahiri a double thumbs-up. "I'm uhhh.. I'm really good at lots of things! I dye my own hair and I have the local highscore on Jumpy Porg!"

"I wanna play the—" Maura stopped when Clove rolled up to give her an excited wave. "Hi Clove!" Turning back to Tahiri and River, she would continue, "I wanna play the drums!" She mimicked the motions of a drum player and pretended she was hitting every drum from left to right. "Or maybe the guitar! The red ones you plug into the box!" She couldn't remember what electric guitars were called, so she tried the next best thing. "Do you know how to play instruments? Yeah, 'cause you own a band, right? What's the band called? Is it something cool?"

[Tahiri]

"That's.." She finally spoke up when a moment of silence gave her the opportunity to do so, between River and Marua she seemed to have stumbled upon half the speaking capacity of the Order.

"That's a lot to process. Okay, uhh, Clove, right?" She addressed the new arrival, and flashed her a smile. "Hi. Never really thought about outfits, but I like where your mind's at! A band's look is just as important as their sound. I'm Tahiri by the way, this is River." Introducing the two, she turned her attention to Maura, and for a brief moment had the strong desire to drop to her knees and just pinch her cheeks like her own mother used to do to her when she was Maura's age. What was with the girl and making Tahiri act like her mother?

"And looks like you already know Maura, who wants to play drums? Well you're in luck, I play the drums, and I can teach you. The guitar as well, if you want." And she meant that, while she might not be the type to tutor someone, with music things were different. If someone wanted to learn, she was more than happy to help, and the girl seemed to be genuinely excited.

"But how about we move this conversation to cafeteria?" She asked, giving River a questioning look, the girl and her stomach's earlier comments had reminded her that she needed to grab a bite as well. "We can talk as we eat?" If no one objected then she would start moving the group towards the cafeteria, making small talk along the way. But just as they entered the cafeteria whatever conversation they might have been having was interrupted as Tahiri walked right into wet smack right in her face. As the noodles slid off her face, a few strands left handing on her ears and some caught on the stud on her eyebrow, a loud shout went up to warm them of the chaos they had just walked into.

"FOOOD FIGHT!!!"

[River Kesyk]

Hi Clove!! River replied, waving at the pointy eared girl and flashing a smile. Do you make your own clothing designs? She asked, already getting some ideas. We could totally work on designs together. I'm pretty good at drawing but I've never designed like, clothes before I think it would be so cool!

The only thing that made River stop talking was when Tahiri mentioned food. Yes, talking while eating - very good plan. Eagerly following Tahiri towards the cafeteria, River couldn't help but skip a little bit as she walked. She was just so excited!!

Before she could even say anything when they got to the cafeteria, River burst out laughing after just a moment of shock when Tahiri got hit in the face with some noodles.

When the shout of "food fight" echoed throughout the place, River didn't waste much time wondering what in the world was happening and instead dove headfirst into battle!

Grabbing a plate of wobbly jello, River hucked it right at the person who'd thrown the noodles at Tahiri, hitting him right in the face and totally covering him and people around him in green goo.

Diving behind a table some other kids had turned over, River couldn't help but exclaim in both happy excitement and mild annoyance.

All I wanted was a cheeseburger!!!

[Maura Starwalk]

Oh, she already played the drums? Maura was disappointed for only a millisecond before Tahiri offered to teach her one, then the other. "REALLY?" Excitement bubbled out of her, and she eagerly nodded her head up and down. "BOTH!"

Maura talked almost the whole way to the cafeteria, chattering on about how cool she thought drums were, how cool she thought the guitar was, and how cool she thought Tahiri was for knowing how to play both of them at once. Talk of guitars and drums soon morphed into how hungry she was, then to her favorite foods. "It's like a cheese sandwich, but you make it hot and you put mustard in it! Also pick—" Splat!

Their conversation was interrupted by Tahiri getting a face full of spaghetti. Maura's black eyes shot from her face to the cafeteria in front of them, and at the words "food fight", her ears perked up and a grin stretched across her face as the music from the hall blared out over the chaos.

"FOOD FIGHT!" While River dove behind a table, Maura dove right into the action. She leapt onto the nearest upright table, grabbed a handful of food, and chucked it at the nearest person she hadn't entered with. The thrown food impacted with the back of some dude's head. He immediately turned around, a fistful of fries in hand, to glare at whoever had just pelted him.

"THINK FAST!" Maura threw another round of food at him before he could retaliate, giggling like a madman as she dove off the table to avoid getting hit herself. She rolled over to where River had dove off to in the first place, still giggling.

[Clove Vanhoop]

"Hello, Maura! I really like your hair today!" Clove remarked, before turning her attention to the other two girls. Tahiri and River "It's a pleasure to meet you both! And I agree with Tahiri, the appearance ties everything together like a little ribbon. While the music is obviously the most important factor, the eye also wants something!" Her ears twitched with delight. Tahiri's interaction with Maura was to die for, and gave the stupidest, biggest smile. It was adorable.

Then her gaze danced towards River, who excitedly began to talk about art. "What?! You draw?! That's amazing! If you don't mind, I'd love to see some of your work later. I'm not the best draw... er... artist myself, I can only do little doodles, so all of my clothing designs are..." She paused to laugh. "Something. We should totally work together though! It sounds like a lot of fun!"

She noticed a Mirialan(@Scoobert) joining the group with an interest in the poster before they walked away. She waved to him with a smile. "Hey, did you want to join the band? I believe we'll be going to the cafeteria to discuss it!"

Even though Clove wasn't hungry, she didn't mind following the others to the cafeteria. The prospect of brainstorming some fashion ideas was too alluring. And maybe she could treat herself to a cinnamon snack or something!

Her plan flew out the window like the bunch of noodles that flew into Tahiri's face. Clove blinked, then stifled a giggle behind her hand. She knew it was wrong to laugh, but for a split second, Tahiri had a noodle beard. How could you not be amused by a noodle beard?!

Then somebody declared 'FOOD FIGHT', and Clove knew she was in trouble.

Because, despite being closer to the ground, she was an easy and slow target.

Clove rushed towards one of the upside-down tables while chanting "not the hair, not the hair, not the hair," and noticed River and Maura huddled behind the table next to hers. She gave them both a puzzled albeit amused look before, what she assumed was a cupcake, flew straight against her forehead with a disappointing smacking sound. The cupcake cream slowly slid down her curtain fringe and cheeks before landing on top of her lap.

They touched her hair.
