DESCRIPTION
The G1-M4-C Dunelizard starfighter is a combat spacecraft manufactured by MandalMotors. Designed and put into production despite Imperial restrictions on the company's portfolio, the Dunelizard was commissioned by the Hutt Cartel, and was based heavily on the technology of the earlier Scyk light starfighter. Small batches were made under the table for various clients throughout the Galactic Civil War, and open production began after the liberation of Mandalore. Close copies are also built by the various Hutt clans under a nominal license.The Dunelizard - named for a vicious desert predator from the planet Tatooine - is 12 meters in length, and is flown by a single pilot. It can be ordered with either dual medium laser cannons or ion cannons, as well as a 4-shot concussion missile launcher. Top sublight speed is some 100 MGLT, with a class 2 hyperdrive allowing it to cross interstellar distances. Maneuverability is not as good as the lighter Scyk, but still compares favorably to many of its contemporaries.
Although now no longer the cutting edge of starfighter technology, the Dunelizard is still an excellent fighter. Though not as numerous as it once was, the type still retains a significant following, and can still be bought new from MandalMotors on an individual basis. The type is most commonly found in the hands of mercenaries, militias, pirates, gangsters and general fringers.
