Arnen never saw the grenade, nor was he warned of it, before it rolled within range of him and Hermit One. He fired his bolts into him, and that was that. A flash of white, then darkness. He had failed in his mission to gain the respect from, both himself, and the Emperor he was so very loyal to. His armor did nothing to protect him in such close proximity, and the explosion, and shrapnel itself had torn him to shreds so fast, all that was felt, was a bit of heat, and then nothing at all. To the rest, the grisly scene was something even a Sith would turn away from in disgust. Two bodies blown to bits in a pink mist of blood and burnt flesh. All that remained even partially intact was his duranium-alloy jaw, that flew into the recesses of the cave. His existence was that of the void, now, a casualty of war, to be forgotten, in time, even by those that knew him, as that was the way of the dark sider. You were either great, or you were nothing.

Arianna roared in anger as Arnen was shredded by the grenade's explosive epicenter, she had hoped he would not have made a last daring move to slay Hermit One and place himself in harm's way. This mission was becoming too costly and the loss of one of her most trusted acolytes/operatives was enough to have the Crusader second doubt their success percentage at this time. Had she been stronger she would have encouraged Artarion to carry through, but given the amount of force reserves she had utilized herself and the force strength of the mad one remaining, she realized this would be a struggling feat.

As Hermit Four had exposed himself, the three remaining Sith Troopers would switch their fire upon him, raining down with Gladius blaster rifles and a single repeater upon his position to provide ample cover fire for the two Sith agents. With her blade held defensively in her right hand, she plucked a Corsec knockout grenade and hurled it with her free hand to a position approximately 5 meters behind Hermit Four and the opening of tunnel networks from which Ezra would likely be approaching. "Artarion, move out! Grab our fallen if you can, that's an order".

With the three Sith Troopers providing cover, the Crusader backpedaled out of the cave to a point where she was out of direct line of fire from the last remaining mercenary and headed towards the ships. Four other Sith Troopers that were stationed near the ships moved forwards to help secure their exit, arriving to the cave entrance and a position of 15 meters from the epicenter of death that lay in the cavern. Arianna would mark Ezra and return one day to finish this job, but that day was not today.

Shizuo was still on the ground, the world around him going more and more quiet as the blood had continued to pool out, his arm offering plenty of capillaries and arteries for which his precious life fluid could seep out. The sith tried to force himself upright but could not, no arms to push himself off the ground.

Consciousness was fading out from Shizuo by the second, feeling the cold of death creeping upon him. He was barely even conscious of the world around him anymore. His eyes slowly closing as his body began to shut down from blood loss.

Artarion smiled grimly as the Hermits were torn asunder by the combined force of grenades and blaster fire. He had sufficient cover where he was and saw Arnen and Shizuo go down under the combined weight of fire from the four Hermits. Hearing a roar from the area where Arianna was, he noticed the Crusader toss a grenade towards the area of the cave where Artarion knew the last hermit was hiding. It was then that he was ordered to leave the area and the battle. He looked at the bodies of the fallen on the ground and knew he would have to hustle to get to them on time. One was too far gone but he thought he might be able to get to Shizuo.

Digging deep into the Force, Artarion augmented his muscles and ran into grab Shizuo under the cover of the thrown grenade. He tossed the other Sith over his shoulders in an improvised firemans carry and ran out of the cavern with him.

Keeping in mind that there were unknown reinforcements coming from further inside the cave, Artarion reluctantly departed the battlefield. He skirted along the southern edge of the battlefield, making his way back to his ship as he went. He used the Force to augment his speed and to get him to his ship as quickly as possible. He did not want to be around when whatever reinforcements there were, came out of those caves. Plus, he did not want any accusations that he did not follow orders completely and fully at once.

Arriving at his ship, he had it ready to lift off in moments. He returned to the ground where he had lain Shizuo and hit him with an adrenal shot to wake him up and get him moving. He helped the other Sith to his ship and then ran back and hopped in his own.

He rose into the air and hit the afterburners, leaving the potential base unclaimed. The Sith was not happy with the fact that they had run away from the fight. It did not sit well with his concept of the Rule of the Strong, but he would not go against orders.
