Obviously, there are a lot of us here who read the comics and novels, and play the games and partake in every other imaginable form of media that Star Wars has infected, but I have talk to a few other people and I've noticed something (at least amongst the people I asked.)

Does it feel harder or maybe less rewarding to go back and read Books and Comics set in the legends lore? Sure, they're still enjoyable but it feels to me at least, that it doesn't have the same rewarding feeling as reading a new novel that's come out in the past year. Humble Book Bundle released a SW-theme comic bundle a few months ago, and I had read a few of them, but some I just never bothered to invest time in. I also have about 9 books that I once planned to read which are just sitting idly on my bookshelf. Sure, I'll read them eventually maybe, but I'm just not as invested in it as I once was.

Does anyone else on here get these types of feelings when going back to the Legends content? Maybe it's the idea of getting invested into the new lore, and getting excited about all new possibilities which limits my interest in read the old ones, since we all have a general idea of how things have gone down in old EU.

And here is a second question, that may be a little more conversation worthy; Should Disney, Marvel, and EA continue to release Legends content? Sure, the only case of it right now is the SWTOR expansion, which would be unexplainable in new canon, and TPB comics, and hard cover novels. Do you think that maybe in a few years, they will go back to working on Legends content, or is it going to be a firm dead?

I've rarely read much EU stuff, so personally a heavy amount of it would still be pretty new to me despite having been around for decades-- the Young Jedi Knights series which was really my biggest exposure to post-Endor EU was made in the 90s, and yet I was reading it in my freshman year of high school I think, which was in 2007.

I think it'd be nice if they could continue the Legends canon, probably a bit more coherently than it used to be, but I dunno how likely that would be.

Nope. There were some absolute gems in the Star Wars EU. I don't get any less enjoyment from playing KOTOR or reading the Thrawn Trilogy. I'm not sure if you're a DC fan, but it's sort of like what happened after the New 52. Even though the universe changed, it didn't make reading pre-New 52 stuff like Batman: Hush or the Death of Superman any less enjoyable.

I'd agree with this statement.

If it takes place so far in the past or future and isn't mentioned, then it shouldn't matter if it's Legends or not.

That said, I still enjoy the Darth Bane trilogy and the Legacy comics.

So many things from Legends have already be recycled into the new canon, it doesn't really make much of a difference. Sure, I may be making a little pouty-face over the Cathar no longer being a 'canon species', but in 6 months to a year, who knows what new [and recycled] stuff will be coming out of the Disney machine?

I wouldn't mind them releasing legends material, but if they did I'd like them to start taking the entire concept of legends canon and running with it. If its not going to be "canon" then there's a lot more freedom to do stuff then there was previously. You could have a time portal rip open in the old republic era and have Vivitate and the Dark Council emerge on Koramoraban to start a new sith empire, and heatedly battle the imperial remnant. They could introduce new planets, species, concepts, all kinds of things, and focus on telling a good story.

Though honestly maybe I'm looking at it from too much of a emotionally detached angle. Like, most of my EU exposure outside of the Old Republic Era wasn't the cool stuff like Thrawn being awesome and Mara Jade and Luke hooking up. It was much more the poopey stuff like the whole Yuuzhan Vong wars, and stupid time the republic made the peace brigade to hunt and kill jedi, or the whole One Sith storyline.

I'm sure the Cathar will become canon soon enough!

Enjoy a story for being a good story. That's it.
