Ask Good Neighbors

[Indy Sati]

Two Padawans was plenty for the Jedi Master, she reasoned, and though both were young men with their own troubles and doubts, she knew she was much the same at their age. Still, she couldn't deny there was little excitement with bringing them both along, and this was an exercise for the Jedi's own diplomatic skills. Being stationed within the dense forests of Devaron, the Eedit Temple was a necessary, and highly historical, place for their Order, and she wasn't going to hesitate and step up to the plate.

Hopefully, the neighbors would be friendly enough to allow them all to stay here peacefully. But she had to lecture both of them slightly as they walked, lest both her boys attempt something that would come back to bite her.

"Please try and leave most of the talking to me," she glanced between the two of them, golden eyes warm. "I want our best foot forward.. who knows how long it's been since there have been our kind here. History has a funny way of repeating itself." She glanced over her shoulder at the pair of them.

Hopefully they would get along well enough to behave, but she wasn't an expert with youth and frequently felt out of her depth.

[Drastus Drahr]

Drastus would walk along behind his new Master, with her other Padawan. Every so often, he looked at Felix, the currently presumed favorite. He didn't even know she had another Padawan until he showed up for the flight. The meeting was awkward to say the very least. Clad in his typical attire, his algae robes seemed to die under mysterious circumstances for the second time, he trudged along in silence as she spoke, nodding all the way until she seemed to finish. "I don't know about Felix, but I have a lot of experience talking to Devaronians, granted they were normally spice addled or angry, but I mean it should be somewhat similar, yeah?" he asked with a quick stretch. "That said, I will let you do all talking." he would then adjust his shades, perfect for any of that light that seemed to try to blind him from above.

[Felix]

At this point Felix was used to indy's lectures, there probably wasn't a day where he didn't receive one in some kind of manner from her but today was unusual, there was this otter padawan, he was supposedly 16 but he looked way older than that with his tattoos and facial hair a.

A perplexed expression flashed on Felix’s face at the other padawan’s anecdote before he returned his concentration to Indy. "Yes, master i think both understand why." it was pretty simple why they were here, to observe and learn from the talks and then help Indy with anything they requested. It should be simple at least, what could a village like this need help with?

Actually.

Come to think of it.

She glanced at both of them, humming quietly.

"Have any of you ever settled disputes before?" she asked them both, golden eyes contemplative. "Or worked for a common goal with people other than Jedi?" Perhaps it was time to show a bit of trust on her own side with her Padawans; both of them struggled with trust issues, after all, she would do her best to show trusting them as well.

It couldn't hurt to try.

"You're with me; we'll work on this together," she told them both, with a hint of a smile.

"So let's do our best to try and be good neighbors."

[Drastus Drahr]

Drastus would glance at Felix as they walked and as they spoke. The boy was the first padawan and it showed. He was well-mannered, more appropriate. In his presence, Drast would just feel like a bigger disappointment. He didn't dress the part or look it. Hell, he probably just looked like a criminal to some of the other Padawans, which meant he had to work harder, sacrifice more. It was a hard thing to comprehed, but he was trying. "Uhh, I have, Master Sati.. But I wouldn't call disputes between spiceheads and criminals as relatable experience. Same with criminal goals.. But, uh.. If I have any thoughts worth sharing, I will."

[Felix]

Felix quickly pondered on indy's question, looking on his past with nothing coming to mind immediately, he had only ever really been around jedi for the majority of his life. "Uhh no, not really" he replied back.

Felix only really had one question to ask Indy, "But how can we help these people?" it was pertinent for their mission now but it felt like a question a jedi should ask themselves always.

She had to suppress a sigh at both of them. Spiceheads and criminals weren't the same as peaceable Devaronians, and with Felix looking for guidance... she had to mull the words over, stopping in her tracks to look at the two Padawans with a stern expression, hands on her hips.

"Part of being a Jedi is showing compassion," she replied quietly, looking between the two of them. "Respecting other cultures, following the tenets of being a Jedi, and knowing when to help and when to wait." She looked between the two of them, features softening. "You must be prepared to do hard work with little thanks or recognition... are you both prepared for that?"

That question would make Drast laugh. "Yes Master. I been doing that my whole life. Besides, isn't the path of the Jedi one of sacrifice?" He'd ask, a genuine question despite being sure of the answer. "As far as the Culture here goes, I'd like to learn it. I only got exposed to a few different ones on Corellia. I like learning about them."

"yes" Felix replied with a nod before they started to make their way toward the village, though he didn't know if he was completely alright with having little to no thanks or recognition, as it always appreciated.

As they entered the village, Devaronian began to stare and whisper amongst themselves at the newcomers as they went to and from their day to day business. The trio made their way down the main thoroughfare towards the village hall, where they were greeted by a devaronian woman, she wasn't dressed extravagantly but her colthing expressed she had enough money for some of the finer things in life.

"hello, let me welcome you, I'm Canni Tak, a village councillor. how can we help you?"
