THE GALACTIC EVOLUTION
________
[CLOSED]
GENERAL BARRACKS - 20:30 HRS

A woman's sultry voice sang softly in a foreign tongue, melancholic and tribal in its echoes; lilting in and out of woeful string instruments' sawing and eclectic plucking and twanging, as chimes twinkled in the distant atmosphere. An industry's professional rendition of an Askajian's tragic war story, esoteric and ethereal; yet also pretentious and luxurious. The gentle music only reached so far into the crossing hallway from within one of the private quarters of the catacomb barracks.

Inside his room, his for a month now, Cappi conversely toiled over a new suit: a lightweight black exoskeleton, standard issue. Knelt onto one knee with his bare back to the open door, he haphazardly tossed aside the helmet with a jarring clunk and ignored roll. His rough hands invaded the standing suit's innards, digging through every cavity in search of what could be discarded in favor of greater freedom. In nothing but light gray sweatpants and some wrist bracelets, perfectly demonstrating his skin's need to breath, he frustratedly stripped the suit bare; carelessly clunking thuds of unnecessary, in his eye, pieces of gear attachments harshly onto the floor into a pile beside him.

He payed no attention to the time, expecting a student to join him some time tonight. In fact she was already due. He fed a finger into the thick bunch of brown hair behind his ear under the hastily wrapped bun and scratched his skull as if to wipe the mental note of her arrival from memory.

A surrounding pattern of specifically placed potted plants of variety decorated the room, mostly near the white sheeted cot under the small circular view portal. Their generic aromas freshened the air with an unintrusive earthiness. Some were roots that reached from their legs like bare twisted trunks while others flourished with green leaves, while a small fan blew behind a water mister that delicately sprayed in thirty second intervals.

And on the dark oak dresser was three small digital frames that flipped through a montage of images of a beautiful woman on one, an old man on another, and an average man on the last with fewer images to cypher through. His frame was turned away from facing the cot.

Cappi grumbled under his breath, contrary to the nature of this soothing music as he rummaged through his new suit in his own little world.

Finding herself hard to believe that one like her couldn't find a Master so she was back to taking training from anyone. How she wished her mother was here to do her training the bond they had as mother and daughter. Treating her as if she was worth the time to teach and mold into something great. Even on the edge of of having emotion the tail of her Vine cat curl around her slender waist as if trying to tell Maya she is okay. Finding her hand on the top of Heta petting her "Well girl should we get this training over, then maybe we get a late night snack." ,

Wearing what she felt more conferrable in that was jungle leather outfit that had her tattoo that was of her tribal. Even so she couldn't help but feel like the outcast, for what she like to wear, but for her it wasn't like she was out to find a good time. No the fact that couldn't be herself around these people met that she needed to change that what needed to do then. Even so change is the hardest part for anyone that had been taught to survive do what was needed. No her mother had raised her as a lover of nature and a warrior heart.

Letting her hand turn around to give a few soft knocks on Cappi door. As this happen wondering just what kind of Knight that this trainer to be either way she knew that needed to figure out how to be a jedi, maybe more then she thought she did.

His head groggily lifted right, then swiveled left with the rest of his body; switching knees to see behind him, revealing the large and two month old scar on his left temple. His brows unabashedly raised with wonder to the bright pink and purple haired Zeltron woman, his eyes trailing down her characteristically beautiful physique and back up until settling on the reptilian feline creature at her waist. If for a moment he reminisced on all the Zeltronian seductresses he'd spent his nefarious time with in his youth on Nar Shaddaa, he now fixated on figuring out what that strange animal was. His gaze cocked curiously. Licked his lips. And he half smiled, more of a squint.

"Evening," he almost questioned her even being here with a low grumble. He rakishly dropped a chrome cuff from his right hand with a final thud and rested his wrists over his perched thighs in a squat; angling his shoulders inwards and showing off his tattoos as he eyed hers.

And then he remembered.

"You're the uh, student from the message board I offered to train. Maya right?" It actually looked like it hurt his brain to remember the name, both not his forte' and forever suffering some side effects from the recent head trauma.

While he wasn't very formal, his speech came across as rigid and sharp.

"Welcome to my home away from home." He sat back fully onto the floor with a sigh, leaned onto one arm, and extended the other to beckon her closer to shake his hand in greeting. "You're no stranger to floors are you?" Almost challenging her, his tenor continued to subtly carry a sharp undertone despite his relaxed image, basically telling her to sit with him. And finally he had to ask about the reptilian-mammal that clung to her waist. "And what's this one's name?"

Stepping quickly to the same space this one called home. First thing that catches her eyes was the plants. Bring her eyes back upon Cappi watching him look upon her shapely form. This in turn got a raised eye brow , begin to wonder just what kind of trainer would this one be. Even so she would try and watch herself to her behavior she would hold her tongue. That to her was better said then done. "Evening"

Seeing it as she was looking more interesting at the plants with in the room, "It beauty such lovely white leaves." as she gentle stroking the white leaves. Almost missing him motioning her over to shake his hand, which she appeased him but letting him take her hand, giving it a more firmer shake then one would think. No stranger to the floor, but I would get some kind of skin rug lot softer to sleep upon." Coming to floor first to her knees in front of him then down on folding her legs with in each other into a relax position. As Heta curl up at her side by her hip, even then she could see that on his face very much interesting in her pet.

"This is Heta, I raised her from a kitten, her mother a band here because she was weakest of the litter, it just one of the smaller vine cat species that roam jungle planet I was born and raised on, I have a Akk dog also he such a sweet little skin. Its only fair if I can ask you about your planets there so lovely, I got a lot of plants in my ship, some say that I don't have a ship I have a flying jungle."

Her handshake was surprisingly firm, even as she carried herself a little more delicately; begging a twitch of his cheek as he resisted a ridiculing smirk. Ridiculing because, well firstly because he still struggled to see women as anything more than objects to enjoy but also because her firm grip suggested in his eyes that she needed to prove to him that she was strong. Of course he had improved vastly from just years ago when he wouldn't have been able to keep this all to himself as he did now, all contained in that little twitch. And instead of answering her individual points of conversation, he enjoyed waiting and listening until she was settled.

"Abandoned?" he echoed ruefully in his low baritone, looking down at poor little Heta. His hands opened on the floor near Heta to see if she was interested in meeting him, to smell his fingers if she wanted and get aquatinted since she'd be spending some time here tonight.

"Oh. Thanks. Hah-hah. Yeah, the guy who raised me on Nar Shaddaa is a self proclaimed botanist but he really just sells plants. That one there is a Mycosia flower. It's white now, but it'll turn a light pink pretty soon. Got those buds supposedly from a Hutt's security advisor when he wanted to populate a secret garden for his mistress. Heard the wife found out when the second mistress got jealous and told the wife about the first mistress and they had her killed. So the guy never came back for his cultivated flowers. Pops said that meant the Mycosias represented a passionate jealousy in retrospect, the cold white petals only turning pink in a brief moment of hindsight like someone's last moments before death."

Cappi's friendliness retreated back into shell a little now, gulping a quieting swallow, always reminded of the pain he felt when returning to his former outgoing self; returning him to his newer, more stoic self. He turned a little darker, wondering about the key characteristic of Heta that Maya mentioned: having been abandoned. And he wondered if she surrounded herself with abandoned animals because she herself was abandoned by her mother, the same way she surrounds herself with jungle themed plants to replicate what she knew.

Again, in the past he would've outright prodded with discourteous questions about it without hesitation. But now he kept the thought to himself to touch on later, if at all. Instead he just coldly looked at her for a moment with a judging squint.

"Here," he said as his right hand volunteered a soft white towel as the Force summoned it from the cabinet telekinetically floating into grip and offering it politely in-hand yet somehow with a hollow temperament behind his stare. "You can sit on this if you like."

He'd set the towel down next to him if she declined.

"So how do you like The Galactic Evolution, compared to the jungle? Space ships aren't very green. Some Jedi Temples work themselves into nature. You've probably been to a couple of those. How long have you been with the Jedi?"

It seem that Heta had a mind of her own while the human was talking back and forth. Her eyes darting back and forth with her eyes of hers. Giving a sniff as if trying to figure the one that sat before her and her master. Mostly Cappi as it seem to look and give off different kind of sign which made her twitch her tail a few time. Before making her mind up to come away from Maya side to cheek him out for all he was worth. In her mind was would he be a snack or would she let him be, seeing that he wasn't threatening her owner.

Even so she would first cheek his fingers out giving a look back to Maya. She picking up on Heta behavior she would let her mind wonder to hers telling her that he was friend, be nice. In a way that Heta understood even so she couldn't help but give a smile as it seem Heta finally letting Cappi hand go to Heta head and body. Speaking first to smooth the cat any fears she might have of this one. "Good Girl"

Maya looking at the soft towel to sit on, she only raised her eyebrow. In her mind had the questions was trying to show off for her or maybe he was trying to make her more relax with in his place either way. I"m fine, but thanks for be a good host."

Did she just mess that part of still trying to get use to not having to put up that thick wall around for protection. Now came the first real question how long she been a jedi. That question was a more tricky question as to how to answer it. Face of her mother came to her mind, she was such a great mother but also her teacher of the force.

"Its nice I guess, I just got here, haven't even really got my feet wet, yet guess you could say, a few class I guess, it seem everyone knows everyone, I seem to be the odd one out. For being a Jedi, I don't know really how to answer that question I guess.

Just how much should she tell of her mother or her up bring, for now she would leave it simple, until ask to give more detail to her past. "I grew up with a Jedi in my jungle home planet of Hurran Kal."

That last mention of growing up with a Jedi triggered an ease in Cappi, always taking to conversation geared towards the subject of family; one of the few subjects that reflected a strong foundation in his life. And the way she said the word 'Jedi' as though representing someone very specific and dear to her, Cappi assumed that person had greatly impacted Maya; whoever that person was.

"Then you've been one of us for a long time now," he reassured her with a calm and steady tenor. "Being a Jedi is a credo, a way of life. We're all trying to reach the same peace, following the same tenets. That means we all know each other, despite our differences."

His goal then, as he enjoyed Heta's affection towards him, was to get Maya past her new school jitters. The Jedi were a family. He learned that the hard way. In fact, everyone might have to learn that the hard way, whatever that may mean to the individual in their own way to truly understand. But at least he wanted to plant the seed in her to know that there were plenty of Jedi who could either relate to her personal woes or who desired to comfort her. The New Jedi Order was one big jigsaw puzzle, every piece paired with one or even four other pieces by the very rules of their existence. There was no odd man, or woman, out. Maya would simply have to place herself, her piece, on the board. There was no convincing him otherwise. If he, a smart-assed egomaniac womanizer, could find a friend in the Jedi, namely Jaleer, then anyone could. It only took the deaths of a couple hundred, especially one in particular, to make him realize it. What Maya's story would be would be up to her. But it was more than all that. Other Jedi loved Cappi in such subtle ways. He only realized it later. That was the Jedi, the brotherhood. Family, even when you least expect it.

"A little piece of advice: find someone you can share yourself with. If there was only one thing I could teach you, it'd be the importance of openness."

A little hypocritical of him to say so, but still important in his opinion. Whether he did that or not, he knew how significant having a real friend was. He wasn't exactly volunteering himself for Maya, as he was in fact just as closed off as he ever was; just in a different way. But he could fairly guess where he'd be without Jaleer. It wouldn't be here.

"Okay. You didn't come here to get a pep-talk. You came to learn a few new tricks, yeah?"

Cappi pulled away from Heta, not liking the way she eyed his forehead scar; thinking she was licking her chops every time she looked up at him. He was a little self conscious about it.

So Cappi flexed a couple fingers open towards the window and two potted plants floated over, settling down before them. The white one Maya had eyed and a simple green one for Cappi. A thought flickered passed Cappi's eyes when he worried what Heta might do to the plants when down on her level, overprotective of them in the face of a fickle feline. But he opted to give the cat a chance. Maya had handled Heta well so far.

"Let's center ourselves first. She'll be okay, right?" he asked hesitantly about Heta, trying to put his worries out of mind by making sure Maya had confidence in Heta's feng shui.

And if all was assured, then Cappi would continue.

"Alright. Close your eyes. Deep breaths. And feel the world around us."

Cappi closed his eyes, inhaling deeply and slowly releasing. He fed his being into the tide of the Force, feeling the plant before him, the floor beneath him, and the air coming from the vent above. He heard the minds of hundreds throughout the ship, as they tossed him through their activities. And he attuned himself to the woman next to him, connecting to her every vibration; getting to know her through the feelings she was having, more honest than any words that could be spoken. And, from there, he would help her.

Listening to every word that he spoke. How could he know that one like her needed someone that she could trust when she had herself. Knowing what it was like and speaking words where to different things. Even with her own body should could sent doubts about what he spoken with a shrug of her shoulders.

Finding herself feeling the emotions from Cappi not meaning to do this but something that came natural. Even then she couldn't help but feel something deep in that he didn't like the scar on his face. Yes the fact that all had scar some was more visable then others met one had more to work on. Change to be made was she really a jedi as she was born of two different word the other of her father snuggling world. Why did her mother see in her father all she saw was that some of the business dealing wasn't at all good, it met those that would never taste what it was like to be free.

"Heta come here" pulling from her leather bag something that seem to get a good reaction from Heta. Opening up her palm as she let her lick her hand of all the crushed up purplish herb.

"She will be good if anythings he be a sleep before we get started deeply in the lesson to be taught tonight."
With that said she watched him bring down two planets as she wonder just where he was going with this lesson. At fist she didn't do what as ask but watch him for a time as if making sure this was some kind of trick to get her drop her defense.

After some time she let herself close her eyes slowly her breathing was but a whisper of what it had been. Even then she let herself open to the force to feel the life around included the now sleeping Heta curled up by her side with her much slower breathing. To the life around the room, letting the swirls come out to begin to touch all in the room bathing it with her force present as if something happen some how there was life where there had been little to no life before. Slowly unlocking a bit of her here and there as she did this she spoke from deep with in her.

Im was born into this world from a healer of I was raised with warriors that had life that beat loudly and proudly. I was brought into the galaxy shown its way from a father born into the ways of a smugglers life. I am what you see from this all the off spring of complex person.

Her initial hesitance peaked his interest as he watched her through the Force. He found it strange opening himself up to her like this, vulnerable to her mistrusting scrutiny. So many times had he been the one to distrust others, and show it; like a wounded animal that lashed out anytime someone tried to help. Hers was more subtle, though. She had a gentler way of handling unknowns. And he understood that she'd do well in curtain situations as a Jedi because of it.

When he was about to move forward with his instruction, prying just slightly into her mind to invite her into his for deeper conversation, he overheard something she was saying to herself; what sounded like a chant, a calming mantra of the self or perhaps even a prayer.

Cappi did his best to allow her the privacy of finishing, pretending like he didn't hear her inner voice before his telepathically interjected in her thoughts.

~ Good. I can feel your core anchored to this spot. Now focus your senses on this plant before you. Let it fill your mind so there's no room for anything else. No people. No ship. Just you and your plant. Feel its life, its breath. Feel the hairs of its stem as its skin opens to the moisture of newly sprinkled water droplets. Its petals. Its leaves. All the way down to its roots stretching through potted soil. ~

As he spoke to her via their telepathic connection, his mind revealed a visual depiction of themselves to her that she may see with her mind's eye. There, in darkness under a single light source, the two of them sat before their plants with eyes closed as though they hovered in limbo.

~ Can you sense origin of its energy? Can you feel the direction it grows? How it radiates so slightly with the Force? ~

He waited for her to sense it. To see it with the Force. For if she could do that, if she could not just assume all plants grow in one direction and actually feel its life blooming out, then she could learn this technique. And if so, he would continue.

Call it a warrior instinct or maybe it was more so that she didn't want anyone to be in her mind with her. No it was her only place she felt safe. Wanting nothing more then to push him out of her mind, only to find herself. Once again to relax to find a reason to relax that he wasn't there to harm her but to teach her. Even as she listen that became the doing part that came next. Could she do as he asked her to do. Even then she couldn't help but to have herself begin to push outward of herself. Even so she could start to see in the force the plant take form.

Deeper she went in the force the better she could see the life the plant itself was giving off. Even then she begin to explore deeper into the plant itself discovering for herself something deeper then the plant itself. the beginning of where this one grew from it start from that point she let it take her upward, to every location of the planet itself.

-Yes I can its so beautiful to see such a energy so pure so brightly with in the very fabric of the force itself the core of what makes up this plant giving it life that it has with in the force that it shines so brightly in such darkness-

Even feeling the soil itself give its life to make the plant whole with in the force doing its part it was all coming together as if to have harmony with one another. With out the other elements this plant wouldn't have the life it has to have the blocks of life it made up of giving its color but also how it struture to the naked eye. One had to only think of how very much woven this was with the natural life of the force itself.

-I can feel as those something deeper is at work in something as simple as thi plant how the force gives it life.-

He could tell she now knew what was needed to be known, seeing what needed be seen. No matter what someone thinks they know of life, it's something else entirely to see it clearly before your eyes in such a precious state of beginning. And with the Force, even the simplest things could demonstrate such a magnificent beauty.

~ Mhm. And yet it's impossible to tell where one ends and the other begins. It's true of all of us and our connection to the Force. We're all connected. But we can choose when and how it behaves. We can choose to feed and flood its life source the same way we gather and release the Force from our hands, but for this plant instead. ~

As he finished speaking, a soft white light swelled before him and the Force pushed into this plant. It's curled body lifted up straight and bloomed. It's color bled with vigorous saturation. And its limbs stretched out with strength, growing physically as the Force radiated spiritually; for once the body surging the same way its inner energy did. And it grew until he let the light subside, the plant now twice its original size.

The light was merely a representation of the Force in this place. Where as in the real world one would not see such detail. But it would serve here as a descriptor for Maya, something she could see and feel to know what he did and how.

~ Go ahead. Give from yourself to the plant. Call the Force into that heart you see at its core and guide it up through the course of its life-force. It already has an origin and a path. All you have to do is build on what's already there. ~

More then listening to what was being spoken, but something deeper was beginning to take shape. As he spoke once again about the path of the force and the core of the plant that sat in front of her. Even then she couldn't help but listen to force herself to listen more so also to feel what he was doing to the plant itself. As gentle as she could she let her force out of her its glow was nothing more the small at first then the brightness that putting off. Even then she felt him with in her own mine. A part of the warrior with in her wanted to get her out of there. It wasn't a part where she let anyone come into, not since the passing of her mother.

It was the bond that she shared with her mother that made her strong wondering if that was always between both mother and daughter or just that there was the fore that played a roll with in their own relationship. Even now she wanted to speak but she dared not to only to whisper words to herself. He here to help not to harm you.

-Life is such a very complex and woven threads of life, as if one can't life with out the other be light the air or the soil, one must use all element to grow.-

Even then there was a push from her with in the force as she let herself feel deeply inside the planet itself to the very nukulist core of the very building blocks of the plant itself. As if oneself like her beginning to understand all of life. Even why her mother side that she must understand the uses of each plant and herb that she used in healing, before she would show her anything else. Knowing the hard work it had taken all the years of that part of the training, knowing nothing happen over night, but but time and practice itself.

Waving herself with in the very system of the planet finding herself pushing up and out the flow of the planet itself to make it grown but not at the rate like Cappi no but it was a start.

-Sometimes I wished she was still here. Her wisdom her very nature of looking at life itself unlike others of caring for all not looking at anything good or evil no just paths we are each able to take and choice to help all not just one or being she saw only one path but many, even for me to choose my own, no she gone- Letting single tear drop fall upon one of her white leave as if it had some how it ran into the plant it self.

Cappi's presence slipped from her mind as this entire world fell out from under them. And he awoke with a sharp inhale through his nostrils. And just as he had, so would she. For that world was a product of their joint meditation.

Returning to the room, the floor, it would all seem like a fast dream. Their conversation would replay vaguely in fleeting memory, words translating into impressions and emotions. Maya would soon come to realize that they never actually spoke those words from a moment ago, never so much as thought them. And a moment ago had actually been almost an hour already. Instead, it was a complete openness of mind shared between the two. It wasn't telepathy, it was meditation.

And when Maya opened her eyes, she'd see the two plants before them in their new forms. Cappi's had grown almost a dozen centimeters. Flourished up and out. Maya's had grown a fraction of that size, but had grown nonetheless. Both would have grown less than depicted in their dream. In their joint meditation, Cappi's understanding of the Force made it easier for her. Yet here, in the physical, she would be on her own.

Cappi's head pivoted towards her, a playful gleam in his otherwise stone-faced eyes as he watched to see how she reacted.

"Good. Wanna try again?"

He waited a moment, a hand extended towards her plant as she would likely need that moment to register where she was and where she had been. Dropping in and out of joint mediation was different than when alone. It could be jarring.

"No rush. Just you this time."

And Cappi waited to see how she handled sharing herself with him like that, Cappi having heard impressions of her mother and felt those wounds of love. Self reflection would pair itself well with a second attempt, even without trying to make the plant grow and just feeling what she had done inside the plant. Would that she stayed focused on the technique, he would remain silent for now. But he felt it would soon be necessary to address the elephant in the room.

And once she had done all that she wanted to do, Cappi tilted his head in empathy. He gulped down a difficult lump that was growing in his throat and he looked away somberly.

"You know there was this ... guy. I used to look up to him. Thought he was so slick. So confident in himself and his world around him. It was like he knew every pebble on every corner like the hairs on the back of his hand. When he breathed in the morning smoke it was like the air of the city happily fed him the news of the day from every crime lord's dirty laundry to every casino's lucky number. He loved life and it loved him back, from every people to every broken building and the bugs crawling beneath them. He was in touch with it all somehow. ... He never liked giving things to me. Didn't even acknowledge me most of the time. But when I wake up in the morning, or walk through a jungle, or fly through space and I breath in that place's air, everything I ever learned from him is there. He may not be with me. And he may not have been right half the time. But it's all there."

He looked at his plant, hands opening in his lap with a joint gesture towards it.

"That's how I see this. Everything it's learned flows through its being. There's so much to grasp. But you don't need to grasp it. You just need to let it flow through you and carry you on."

Letting herself just blink a few times, as if walking up from a very deep sleep. Even then she tried to remember where she been or what was spoken. All should could really get was feeling from where she been. Even her pool of pink eyes looking at him in a different kind of way. Just what kind of emotions was she feeling from all of this. Speaking nothing, but looking down upon the plants in front of the two of them. One like herself couldn't help but knowing that he been inside of her very mind her safe place for her to go into.

It was where her mother was still there for her if it was only whispers now and then. Having that was all she needed many times to make it through some hard places in her life. The very nature itself like that of the life in this planet brought her the peace that she always searching out to reach.

Taking one of her fingers out touching one of the now bigger leaves with her finger tip softly as if she knew the plant on a more deeper level. "How do you...." could she bring herself to ask the next question. Not that she wanted to it would mean for her giving a part of herself open herself up to him. It was the way she had closed off her warrior with in to protect herself and just like now she wanted to run.

Feeling something upon her arm, was it him, or the empathy that was flowing out of him into her. Had she found a safe place to share what should been talked about right after her mother death. This bring her far from her the path that her mother had put her upon. "I want to let it flow in me like this plant before its just hard for me, for reason." knowing that a lot had to do with trust but that had keep her alive more time then she dared to count on her many runs for her father smugger ring, the Pink Sun.

"I had to choose my own path some of those have lend to unpleasantness things upon me, for those memorizes one don't want to remember or bring up, as I had good ones with knowing at that time I had chosen to follow the path of my mother, to know I had her watchful eye her loving caring arms around me even when I mess up." Looking once again her own eyes following one of the life up to the top. The next step was her eyes wondering up towards his. Seeing the way he looked at her with empathy the same that ran through her own blood. Reaching over to his hand, "I want to try again, this time..I.." as she dropped her head once again not to look at him directly. Wanted to say she would let him in all the way, even to the deep part of her warrior with in herself.
