I would imagine Bush supports it too.
who gives a shit what bush thinks?
Let some better presidents give their opinion and I might be like ok whoa I totally see the light now
Building a Mosque at Ground Zero is kinda like opening a gun store at Columbine. It's not illegal, but it's just a slap in the face. Ground Zero is not the place for a Mosque.
The area around Ground Zero is the perfect place for a mosque.
Instead of throwing a shit storm at the idea of a mosque - and this building is really just like the YMCA, sans Jesus - America could have stood up and openly embraced it, showing that we respect and welcome all religions - including Islam. Instead, we cried. Good luck building a church in the Middle East without having someone take a shot at you. That's supposed to be the difference between us and them.
I know, you can just as easily say "build it further away and it will be fine," but the closer it is to Ground Zero, the better the ideals of America look. This has been the problem with the United States over the last nine years. We're willing to sacrifice who we are as a country in order to fight some assholes in a cave. But that's what people are missing. Allowing that mosque to go there is how to fight assholes in a cave. It clearly paints a line between those of us who are welcoming of others, and those people who want to kill and destroy those who are different.
Unfortunately, I think we just give terrorists fodder to show how awful we are by doing this.

Indeed, but VVVVV
How are you going to open a gun store in a high school?
It was a bad example, but it worked.
lol @ this thread.
Bad taste? Personally i think its a kick in the nuts for every american, especially for every family who lost a relative / friend in the september 11 attacks.
What id do personally? Do it on september 12th. Mark a new begining etc. A new chapter in new yorkians accepting (maybe a better word is respecting?) the muzzy faith by allowing the construction to actually go through.
=).

swrp resident muzzy.
Hint: It isn't really a mosque and it's not at ground zero.
