Giju​

Giju was home to the hulking Herglics pecies, and the capital world of Herglic space. This isn't a random Jedi good-will venture, this was a carefully planned diplomatic missin in order to establish an alliance with the Herglic people. Such an alliance would benifit the Jedi. The Herglic people are strong warriors. Not only that, their home space - Herglic space- is home to many star systems. There are such to be a myraid of resources that could benifit the Jedi. Giju itself is also known for it's manufacturing centers and it's array of spaceports. And if negotiations going particularly well, maybe perhaps a temple placed.

In Harald's diplomatic yacht the Svanevit, Harald saw the ocean world in the viewport as they were closing in on it. Soon, they would be making touchdown. A newly minted member of the Diplomatic Corps, having recently passed his Knight Trials, this would be Harald's first outing. It would be quite an undertaking. But having read into the history of the Giju, Hergli cspace, and the Herglic people, he came up with some talking points that could help, and he might find the Herglic to be quite amendable.

Harald would be the passenger side as his droid pilot took them into the planet's atmosphere. A lot of Giju was ocean. The herglic people had underwater buildings, yet they had settlements on the surface, mostly for other species. The yacht would take them to a landing pad on one of it's ocean-based starports.

The Sverender wouldn't be alone, as he is with padawan, Theia Durand (@GABA). Harald does like the company of others, and perhaps this will be a good learning experience for her. Maybe it will be for him as well. Who knows. "You ready for this. We should be touching down in just a few moments" he said, looking through the front viewport as the ocean spaceport is just ahead.

She had not done diplomacy while under the guidance of a Jedi; it was certainly a skill and had taken many courses in school on communication, etiquette, and policy, and she was curious to see how much of it would carry over now she was with the Jedi Order. She was accompanying another Knight, Harold Svendsen. He seemed like someone she would know from outside the Order and certainly matched the dress and mannerisms of the boys from a neighboring academy where nobles and diplomats sent their sons to learn.

She had never been to Giju, but knew it was of the helergic species, of which she had previous encountered on her dinner stop not too long ago. It didn't go well, she even broke a chair over the whale-like species to knock him out. She hoped he just wasn't related to anyone they were going to speak to; though she was certain the coincidence would be unlikely and it would draw on her end, some suspicions if they had some connection to the spice trade. Regardless, Theia was excited to just be out of the temple and doing things that didn't seem like community service. Theia was dressed modestly, not in typical jedi robes, but an outfit she would generally wear when she travelled with her mom to diplomatic and business affairs.

The ship was nearing their rendezvous and Harold spoke, checking in with the padawan. "Yeah! Lets do this, it should go well...I hope."

"With that kind of energy I'm sure we will " the Sverender grinned and eager to get started as well. It is also refreshing to see some of padawans enthusiastic to try their hand at diplomacy as well. Now the yacht would touch down at a landing pad and soon the ramp would bear down. "Alright, off we go." he moved foward, already he could see Herglic going about their day, getting momentary glances from others.

While they would make their way to their destination, the governor's office. Not only were starports like these used for traffic on-and-off planet, they were also used as staging grounds for diplomatic relations with the rest of the galaxy. Harald would make some talk with the padawan, maybe get a bit of background. "The Herglic are an often overlooked people. Don't be fooled or intimidated by their size or appearance. The Herglics were technologically advanced species in past. They were exploring the stars and founding new colonies at around same time the Corellians and Duros were. They even built a decently large trade empire. They are natural exploders and traders." In addition to their worlds, having Herglic on the Jedi's side would be a big boon. "They are an easy going and kind people in general."

Now he would talk about their present situation "Unfortunately, they have been oppressed by the old Galactic Empire, its still something thats buried in Giju's psyche. And now with the collapse of the New Republic, Herglic space is vulnerable, even pirates and marauders are encroaching on trade routes going into Herglic space. " Fortunately, those are things Jedi can address.

They are coming closer on the large central spire, that's where they are meeting. "Well, here we are." he would stop now that they have arrived inside. Harald would check in with the protocal droid the lobby, checking in for their appointment. "The governor will see you shortly. Please have a seat. Thank you."

Now Harald would take a seat while waiting. It will be a few minutes. Or so. "It's almost time. Nervous?" he would ask in a friendly manner and give an assuring smile. Soon they will both be in front of the governor for some important talks.

[Theia Durand]

Despite the odd looks the jedi duo were getting, Theia was doing her best to keep a poker face and not allow herself to gawk at some of the larger helergics that passed them. Though she enjoyed seeing the diversity within the species, the colors and markings were all just as unique as the individual they past. She recalled often the girls at school, though they all had to wear the same uniform, would try to be unique in wearing it, but remained all looking the same to Theia. Unluckily for her, the red hair made her stick out more than she was sometimes comfortable.

She listened to Harald carefully as he explained more in brief about their history and focus; luckily for her she knew much about interstellar travel and hopefully there was still a spark of that curiosity that they could both draw outward. Pirates will always be an issue regardless of where one goes in space, some systems were not as rich in their defense budgets as others. However, Theia understood the importance of building their own agency from within and the Jedi would be there to support it.

The padawan remained quiet mostly as they entered the building; her mind quickly taking note of everything she was observing and also feeling. She had been focusing more on building her connection with the Force, to be able to feel it as well as the rest of her senses. However, with her nerves being heightened as she attempted this unfamiliar path of diplomacy, it was much harder to focus just on anything. Her eyebrows rose as Harald spoke.

"Yeah," she agreed, she assumed it was easy to tell she was nervous, her fidgeting with her nails would have been a dead give away, "I just don't know what to expect."

"We- you'll do great. Just some advice. Don't try too hard convincing them to join us on feelings or sentiments. The herglics are a practical people. We need to sell to them that they stand to benefit from an alliance with us." he would smile towards the padawan, and re-assure her.

The protocol droid would then arrive to get the Jedi. "Greetings Master Jedis. We are pleased you've made it here safely. The governor will see you now. Please follow me"

The Jedi duo would then be escorted into a meeting room, after the doors open, they would be greeted with the slight of an Herglic with visible winkles and slightly taller than most. They must be and old one. The protocal droid would then station itself to the Governor's flank. "Greetings Jedi. I have been expecting you. Knight Svendsen and Padawan Durand yes?" Harald would nod. "I am Nirosa-Evik, Governor of Giju" she said with a loud booming voice, typical for her larger species.

"Do have a seat. We also have drinks if you like." she pointed to the large seating, there would be more than enough room for humans that's for sure. They would have a taste of Giju's hospitality.

Once they are all situated. The Governor would then start negotiations. "So, I understand the Jedi are seeking an alliance with Herglic space. Why so?" The tone of the Herglic leader suddenly shifted. Sent went all pleasant to down to business. Wanting to know the why of things. Like why Herglic space instead of anyone or anywhere else? Harold would give his best answer. "Well, the Herglics are a very interesting people. although underlooked by the galaxy. We know a bit about the history of your people, about how your people became great traders and explorers and still are. We can stand to benefit from your people's ingenuity, not to mention your mercantile expertise and access to the markets among other things. The Jedi would be delighted to have Herglic space as allies and partners. I believe we have a lot to offer each other."

"Oh, indeed?" The governor the question "What do the Jedi have to offer us?" Harold's eyes would look towards his padawan partner, so she can practice her hand at this. This is a good of a time as any to get her feet wet in the realm of diplomacy.

[Theia Durand]

Theia listned closely to Harald and took a deep breath, taking heed to his words and trusting he knew what she would need to do. Her light eyes settled back on the door, her senses reaching outward, feeling as her master had taught her as she practiced toward habit. A protocol droid escorted the Jedi to the meeting room, Theia caught up in the unique decor of the herglics, she noted the curves and waves from the murals on the walls to the furniture, reminding her of the ocean waves. Inside the meeting room waited the governor who was quick to jump to business.

He asked the two jedi their purpose, which was an easy enough question to answer and Harald seemed to respond on script as to why the jedi were here now. Though the question of what the jedi could give in return was a tougher one, but one Theia could respect. She leaned forward slightly in her seat, trusting to know the words and fulfill what they could offer back.

"The jedi order has a long standing history of being trusted advisors, liaisons, and peacekeepers in the galaxy. We have been working to return to that standing and there are many of us who would be more than honored to hold that respect with you and the hergleic people." Theia started, taking in a small, but deep breath before she continued.

"There are threats on all ends, the new Empire, the Sith, AMS, Darth Raze, even the Killiks still threaten to unravel what you have built for your world and what you stand for. Its not a matter anymore on if it is a necessity, it more than is as we need to be an united front against these adversaries." Theia explained, "Its nothing near material wealth for your world, but it will keep the integrity of everything you stand for here."
