Orn Secura

twi'lek ⚬ twenty-six ⚬ consular jedi knight ⚬ level one

8oX3IPL.jpg

NAME: Orn Secura
SPECIES: Rutian Twi'lek
GENDER: Male
AGE: 26
HOMEWORLD: Ryloth

FACTION: Jedi Order
RANK: Knight
OCCUPATION: Jedi Consular
LEVEL: 1

HEIGHT: 1.8 m
WEIGHT: ~75 kg
BIOGRAPHY Discovered as a young child in his homeworld of Ryleth, Orn was since early indoctrinated in the ways of the Order, becoming quite the steadfast defender of its principles. That was by no means unrelated to his first master, a stalwart Jedi, firm believer in even the most archaic parts of the code, who held the Twi'lek as an apprentice even as the Order saw fit to knight most members with little training.

Of course, with the galaxy being at war thing, any formal training could not compare to what was once lectured in the peaceful Jedi temples, or to even not long before, when the title of Padawan still existed. But his unofficial master sure came close. Although somewhat lacking in swordsmanship, the older Jedi hoped to pass a bit of his wisdom and Force prowess to the newer generations of rushed members. And partaking in dangerous missions, way above what he and some of his peers were trained for, the Secura either succeeded or perished. And succeed he did, eventually adopting the warrior-monk ways of his master.

Living a hectic life, just like most others in the Order at the time, the somewhat unprepared Knight saw his fair share of adventure, helping both the war effort, in the frontlines mainly as a healer, and the general citizens of the galaxy, not fully turning away from what he believed to be the Jedi's true calling.

During their many travels - some of them putting Orn in direct contact with his original clan - the issue of Twi'lek slavery came to the attention of the young Knight, who took it upon himself to aid in the battle against it wherever he could. Sure he tried, but with the whole practice being somewhat common even in the Inner and Mid rims a single do-gooder has a very limit reach, even moreso once one realizes the size of this huge economical racket. Today it stands as another objective in his expansive and hardly achievable to-do list.

A scholar at heart, the destructions of temples, libraries, and other various places of learning affected the young Knight the most. While he was privileged to learn the ways of the Force with an experienced master, not many shared that privilege, as he soon realized. And in the neverending destruction, more and more Jedi texts and secrets were lost, making sure the next generations would grow even further from advanced understanding of the Force and its nature.

This issue, however, was not of true concern to more military-minded Jedi, and found limited interest among the ranks. A task force to find and preserve Jedi knowledge was finally formed when some of the key figures inside the Order, mainly focused in pushing the Exiles back, realized what could happen in the years to come if their resilient enemies amassed enough of the powerful older manuscripts and holocrons, that could no doubt give their readers an edge. Orn and his master took part.

To many members of this new focused cell, action had been taken far too late, the bulk of the damage already done, and yet most wanted to do their part in preserving the Order's knowleadge. As the fighting subdued and the Exiles exhausted their forces, the cell had a few successes in defending a few temples and hunting Dark Jedi who held important pieces of their now burned libraries. Unfortunately, it never gained much traction, and was kept to a limited scope.

All in all, this time in Orn's life is responsible for many important and varied experiences, not only by learning through the recuperated texts and holocrons, but also through dealing directly with the enemy. Among both the Jedi and Dark Jedi, it's somewhat understandable that not many would care enough for preserving knowledge during such trying times, focusing instead on the direct annihilation of their foes, but those who did, in both sides, usually shared a passion for the information they carried. And so, the Exiles he dealt with were rarely ever those in the front lines, being instead those who valued the Force above all else, those who had a deep connection with the dark and its many perilous yet powerful paths. Those who understood the value in allies with the same hunger and connection to the Force that bound them all.

As such, the darkside stood close by as an ever tempting mistress, the lure of power clinging to the artifacts they recovered, some tainted beyond recognition with dark energy. Some of his comrades fell, and at times even he for a second considered it, but in the end those possibilities were always shut down by his strong conviction in the light. That and his ex-master's influence. Orn, who already held his master turned peer in the highest regard, had no doubt his presence and general advice helped him to stay true to the ways of the Jedi.

Nonetheless, this time afforded him many new friendships and relations, both among the Order and outside of it. A few temptations surely appeared along the way, but for someone who daily fought against the darkside, they were easily resisted. Quite socially developed, his circle grew quick, which is why the Tragedy at Ilum represented such a blow, like to many others.

When their evil counterparts invaded the sacred Jedi world the relatively peaceful consular cell saw a provocation that could not go unanswered, and so they took part in the defense. The fighting was like nothing the Knight had ever seen, and he came to realize a lot of luck was involved in him surviving even the first skirmishes, going against Dark Jedi way more inclined to dueling than he was. But true luck came when the crystal exploded.

Well, at least if we are to consider seeing your comrades, people he had spent the last years with, evaporating in the blink of an eye, luck. The waves of energy stopped the fighting, killing indiscriminately throughout the planet. The ever increasing death toll left a mark on the Twi'lek, who was there to see his would be master leave cover to help a fellow Jedi stuck under a fallen structure, only to fail getting back soon enough.

The images were horrifying, something out of a nightmare, and would surely stay with him for years to come. And yet, when the crystal finally let up, there was not much to mourn, not much to recover from the dead. Such was the power of destruction of the darkside. And so they left, hundreds, thousands of their peers fallen on their most sacred planet.

Divided in many sects once it came out that the Order's Grandmaster betrayed them in their finest hour, the Jedi were, for the first time in many years, as divided in nature as the Exiles. The Guardians' retreat came as a surprise to Orn, whose trust in the light and in the Order did not fault, for he had known many good Jedi who were infected by the sickness the darkside was. It was unfortunate their Grandmaster's will had not been strong enough, but he did not see it as a time to close in the Order, instead believing they should keep their work recovering artifacts to preserve its knowledge and sanctity in the eyes of the Galaxy.

Of course, his first instinct was to hunt down every last Exile. But even then, the darkside would never be defeated, and if the Exiles ever returned in force, they had to be prepared. A new generation had to be trained and taught what it meant to truly be Jedi.

PERSONALITY AND TRAITS The tragedy in Ilum deeply changed Orn, and his outwards presence can definitely be divided in before and after that. Mainly because of his upbringing, he had always been somewhat stern, but was usually also quite light, letting through some humor even in the worse situations. After the unexpected events that shook the galaxy, however, much of that humor and lightness left the Knight, now quite a bit more serious, dry, even grim.

Although a firm believer in the ways of the light, the power of the darkside has always been appealing. But with a seemingly never-ending belief in the goodness of the Order, and amicability with the denizens of the galaxy, time and again he defeats that desire. Orn still truly believes that a Jedi's calling is in the form of helping, fighting for peace and the betterment of the life of others. Of course, this is easier said than done, and the war took quite the toll on the Order's tasks as peacekeepers, and even to the Knight it is now "less" important than other, more immediate objectives. To him, the darkside stands as a sickness in the Galaxy, and the Jedi should keep doing their part in healing it. Different than some of his fellow sect members, he is not against the use of force, and actually advocates for the active hunt of Exiles, but realizes these other objectives are, at this time, more important to the future of not only the Jedi, but also the galaxy at large.

A man of noble intentions, the Twi'lek maintains a code of honor, and tries his best to not go through the shadowy path of deception. He keeps to his word, and heavily expects others to do the same, not easily accepting help or even the company of those he deems not honorable. The times he had to deal with Dark Jedi stood as tests to this concept, however, as arguing for straightforwardness and any kind of trust in them is nothing short of crazy. And after what happened, it is impossible to not realize times are changing, and now that both sides' strength is diminished, one must accept the burden of being at least a bit more dynamic in their dealings.

Under the concerned, serious face, lies a kind heart. Orn is compassionate to the struggles of others, at times putting the well being of the innocent citizens of the galaxy over his own. There is no way to argue the Jedi had no hand in the state of affairs, and while he doesn't believe the Order is fully the culprit in the war like some other Consulars do, he does believe it's their duty to try and fix things instead of hiding behind walls to meditate.

POWERS AND ABILITIES The strong suit of Orn definitely lies within the Force, as his training focused on it, and he has quite a bit of experience using it during his years hunting artifacts. At the start mainly a healer in the frontlines, that ability is now outshined in use by some others, more combat oriented ones, but it stands as the one he has more aptitude with. Sensing and telekinesis are some of the ones he's most familiar with, but during combat he did learn a few tricks to enhance his otherwise perhaps even lackluster performance.

Lightsaber training was not exactly neglected, but he is definitely not the best at swordplay. At first user of a double bladed saber, he fell back to a single bladed one after it was broken in two during a duel, that also demonstrated quite clearly the weakpoints of the bigger weapon. With a style molded in battle, his knowledge of actual combat schools is limited, in practice using parts of many different formal styles, mainly learned through imitation.

As a relatively well traveled Jedi, he has experienced quite a few different situations throughout the galaxy, and has a good sense of scale, distances and positioning, being an able navigator even in the most sprawling urban areas. The contact with the many scrolls, holocrons, and general artifacts of old of the Jedi Order gave him some great insight in history, culture, and of course, the Force, and he is generally quite knowledgeable about a whole array of subjects, even if few of them are in depth.

For general skills, he does understand how to work a ship and pilot one at a basic level, as one would expect from an almost-nomad warrior-monk. Alternatively, an interest in cooking has always been strong, and he is known to make some good meals from almost nothing, which comes in handy when stranded in temples or what have you, hours to lightyears away from the nearest restaurant.

mainly for inspo for future stuff cuz I never got to write up any of the old ideas too deeply

Where's my arc?

Onderon might not be the first planet that springs to mind when the talk is crime, but put a few million people in an enclosed space within walled cities and anything can happen. For even if Iziz's defenses work as intended against the many creatures that hunt outside of its perimeter, keeping the inside clean might be a considerably harder task.

A swoop gang might act as one would expect, always with the same patterns, making it somewhat easy to predict. Organized crime on the other hand, not so much. They are more dynamic, they improvise, adapt, overcome. The law is the one always having to play catch up, as if left unchecked this evil eventually expands its tentacles through all levels of society. Or at least that's what they like to think. With a vigilante out and about, however, things might not go according to plan to one of the few relatively well established Corellian crime syndicates within the great walled city.

Mainly present in the slums, but also with some small ventures in the Merchant Quarter, this organization acts as employer to Kader Madine and his crew, one that found their business in the distribution of spice to lower-income sectors of the capital. Quite the lucrative market, if you can keep your head over your shoulders, that is. Many try their hand at it, but not many manage to succeed for extended periods.

The plot will follow this unstable crime syndicate and the events that finally send Kader out of the planet, as he tries to step out of the shadow of his deceased yet somewhat famous uncle.

Ileh Secura

twi'lek ⚬ twenty-eight ⚬ jedi knight ⚬ lone consular

8oX3IPL.jpg

NAME: Ilehs'ecura
ALIAS: Lio, Ilieh, Iloh
SPECIES: Rutian Twi'lek
GENDER: Male
AGE: 28
HOMEWORLD: Ryloth

FACTION: Jedi Order
RANK: Knight
OCCUPATION: Jedi Consular

HEIGHT: 1.8 m
WEIGHT: ~75 kg[/b]
BIOGRAPHY Originating from a Secura clan off-shoot, Ileh was born with the definition of a silver spoon. Although relatively far from the main line, his close family held some considerable political power over Ryleth’s second capital, Kala’uun, where he spent most of his childhood. Intended for power, he was groomed since early in the arts of intrigue and subterfuge, with diverse and rigorous private tutors.

From that experience, however, the young Twi’lek got no enjoyment. Truthfulness and loyalty had been qualities he both admired and displayed since early on, much to the dismay of those around him.

The life of a Twi’lek politician amidst the bustling trade port was quite the turbulent and seldom long one. Kala’uun did not have the watchful eye of the Twi’lek Clan Council keeping the peace, and its huge influx of people, both for tourism and commerce, meant trouble was constant.

Forced into a world he did not appreciate, the Secura might’ve not liked it, but he learned. From his political mentors came tact, a disposition towards diplomacy, and the more shadowy ways of courts around the galaxy. His martial instructors taught important lessons in discipline, respect, and most importantly, pain.

However, during his years among his clan, Ileh’s most important ability was that of masking his true self. With a sense of bitterness he eventually resigned himself to filling the role he didn’t truly want.

Pressure became even more apparent once his “gift” in the Force emerged after a messy run-in with some young thugs, during one of his many escapades. From what he remembers, that day was when yet another tutor arrived at the Secura mansion, a place the now teenager was prohibited from leaving.

An elder Bothan who was also attuned with the Force, this new tutor soon became a favorite of the heir-apparent. With him, he felt safe and at peace, something he struggled with inside his own home. His master’s backstory was one shrouded with mystery, and while seemingly no subject was off the table between the two, the elder went awfully quiet when it concerned his many years of living.

Regardless, with time Ileh was able to trust master Visk, from him learning the basics of the energy that surrounded them. With a warm aura, Visk was both a guide and a refuge. In him, the Twi’lek found the affection his parents lacked.

As time went by, the Secura, now not an only child, became more and more outspoken about his dissatisfaction with many aspects within the clan. His many cousins were ruthless in business and politics, and would frequently butt heads with their more compassionate cousin. That painted a target on his back. The black sheep of the family, who was, in fact, quite light.

From early on the practice of slavery was despised by Ileh, who became a vocal advocate for some kind of law against it in Kala’uun. It was not a secret at all that the huge commercial port was one of the main hubs for the exporting of Twi’lek slaves, coming from all over Ryloth through a multitude of means.

At first he tried to fight the crime families directly, which led him nowhere. In fact, as he would soon find out, it actually led him right back to the top. These criminals were among the high casts of Twi’lek society. Among the people he grew up with. In fact, a big chunk of those slavers either had contacts or worked closely together with the higher clans. Including his.

Once his clan’s involvement was in the open, Ileh became irate. While he had so far accepted his future role within the family, a line was drawn right then and there, and years of suppressed emotions came flowing in.

Among the discussion a threat to basically ban him from the clan was made, culminating in Ileh storming out of the mansion. It had been a few years since master Visk’s passing, but in that moment the Twi’lek felt what seemed like his warm presence once more, a proud gaze over his actions.

At last free from the mold he was expected to fill, a still remarkably young Ileh loitered around in the streets of Kala’uun. Without much in the way of money and nowhere to go, the self-exiled Secura relied on his limited contacts to eventually make his way to Ajan Kloss.

Years went by and Ileh Secura became quite the accomplished Padawan. His connection to the Force was remarkable for one his age, and years of martial training gave him the tools needed to succeed in melee combat. Through the Jedi way he saw a way forward with his main goals, a way to truly help the galaxy.

After quite a few adventures at the side of his new master, in which he successfully assumed the roles of peacekeeper, healer, and even explorer, the Padawan who now preferred to omit his surname was finally recently knighted.

PERSONALITY AND TRAITS Cool, calm, and collected. These attributes perfectly describe Ileh Secura on the outside. Through trial and error (and great teachers) he learned how to block most of his emotions from showing, to the point where wearing this mask is almost natural.

An ability essential in cutthroat politics, but horrible for socializing and making deeper connections. In fact, that has been something Ileh historically struggles with, appearing as distant as he does. Inside a very passionate and compassionate Twi’lek, he curses the childhood that made him the loner he is.

He’s a Jedi of focus, commitment, and sheer kriffing will, and a true believer of the order and its creed. Perhaps at times even too dogmatic, like the Jedi of old. Due to his upbringing he has a tendency of judging those in positions of power who openly display weakness. Here, of course, he considers himself to almost always be in that position of power, becoming extremely thin-skinned when it becomes apparent he is not.

Usually able to exert this mastery over his strong emotions, when Ileh ends up finally having enough, the most pure version of rage can be seen. Thankfully those occasions are extremely rare, even more so after joining the Jedi, yet some of that danger is always there below the surface.

Although he prefers that people refer to him simply as Ileh or even Lio, the Twi'lek is not foolish, and has nothing against using his pedigree when it serves him. Which he hopes will be a frequent occurrence in the future, as, although extremely faithful so far to the Jedi dogmas, he does believe not taking part in politics to be a nonsensical move.

Loyalty and dedication to a cause are of utmost importance for him. The Secura does not forget, and seldom forgives. This lack of leniency goes for most he sees as equals or superiors, with the strongly compassionate side reserved mainly for those he either considers inferior or those in adverse situations. He truly does have a heart of gold underneath the masquerade. One just might need to dig a bit deeper than in most to find it.

calm ⚬ compassionate ⚬ dedicated ⚬ disciplined ⚬ respectful
reserved ⚬ cautious ⚬ dogmatic ⚬ thin-skinned ⚬ vengeful

POWERS AND ABILITIES Since a young age Ileh was groomed for inheriting the duties of his clan. Training with specialists, he at least dabbled in various subjects. Among them, politics and it’s inherent plotting and scheming were very prominent, as was hand-to-hand combat with a focus on self defense, and general stealth and secrecy. He was also trained on the basics of the force by a mysterious Bothan teacher, which gave him an edge as an eventual Jedi Padawan.

Ileh’s affinity to the Force is quite strong, and was so far the main focus of his time with the Order. As an extension of this earlier, more general training, he was able to attain proficiency with the basics and start on a path of discovering new powers and abilities quite early on.

Quite synergetic with his perhaps forcefully instilled interests, he worked quite deeply on any abilities that would allow him to go unnoticed when needed. These included a mix of cloaking, illusion, sensory and telepathic powers. However, his biggest capabilities lie in Force Healing, for which he is becoming relatively known among the ranks.

Combat-wise, the Twi’lek can’t be said to be more than an adequate duelist. Swordplay, although also included in his early Secura training, never truly interested Ileh, and, as he never showed a natural predisposition for it, it was eventually neglected. He can take care of himself, but focuses mostly on defensive styles. As for the force, he has some training in Barrier and previously dabbled with Deflection, yet these are far from being his strong suit.

As for his more general skills, it’s fair to say he is quite well-rounded. His time away from civilization not only as a healer and peacekeeper, but more recently also as an explorer, looking for ancient Jedi artifacts and wisdom, made him a decent pilot and capable engineer. If anything, his ability to adapt and make-do with what he has came in handy in quite a few situations in the Outer Rim.
