Jake sat silently on a stump of the tree as he readied his gear. This mission was a hard one, they had to capture general Hardhak. He had led some kind of rebellion on the planet of Ruusan to take over from the democratic government. Why Jake did not know and it did not really matter. Hardhak was the only thing that mattered. So the mission was given to Vu’thari and him. Jake knew Vu’thari from there meeting during the life day celebrations though not much beyond that, still high command trusted the two of them. Jake was ready for this mission he wore his standard armour with a face mask along with the normal Vibro dagger and pistol with 2 extra power packs he all so had a sword, made from sharp durasteel with Phiric finish.


Jake hoped it would be fast and easy, though when they got to a small hill overlooking the bunker Jake realized it would not be a simple mission. They had eyes on the bunker entrance and Jake could see through the Macro binocs the guards 5 humans 4 of them armed with rifles walked along the perimeter fence while the 5th armed with repeater stood in a tower. 4 droids 3 5u infantry droids with rifles stood at the entrance to the bunker with a H4 battle droid standing behind them.

"Master Vu’thari they seem very alert and those droids are stand right in front of the entrance. I don't think we could ever get in unseen. I guess we gonna have to fight our way in. Good thing there is only one way inside though"

It was not good. The bunker was highly defensible and well-guarded. In fact, he was not even sure how long they could stay concealed as close as they were without being detected. Alas, the two of them had a job to do and resources did not grow on trees, so they had to make due. Vu’thari kept eyeing the repeater nest up in the tower to the side of the bunker. Looking over at the young rebel beside him, he mused, ”Soo…how good do you think the field of fire is on that Light Repeater nest in that tower?”

Vu’thari was pretty sure Jake knew what he was driving at. The twi’lek did not know Jake that well, just meeting him at the celebration on Kashyyyk, but that was a simple introduction—now they had to depend on each other with their lives. What Vu’thari did know was that he was a force sensitive and under the tutelage of Luy, so having to hide who and what he was from Jake was not going to be something extra he had to worry about.

It is a good thing…this mission could go sideways real fast and the last thing I need to worry about his hiding from my own allies…

Continuing to watch the sentries, he said quietly, “I am going to have to get close…”

Jake looked at the tower. The guard seemed like he was focused on the main road but the tower was open top so he could look all around if he wanted to. Still, the Jake figured he was focused on the road since he had the most firepower.

"My best guess is he will focus on the road in case any thing drives up there to the bunker. These mountains and trees mean any vehicle attack would come down the road. So if we come from the north and behind them we can get close. Still, I don't see how we could get passed the droids without a fight. But at least we would be close enough to take out the guy in the tower"


Jake nodded when Vuthari said he was getting closer. "if they spot you I will fire a few shots and try to draw some of them away from you" With that Jake gave one last check to the pistol and got ready

Vu’thari knew he had not communicated himself well as soon as the human began. He clarified quickly, “My thought is that you sneak your way to the tower, take the tower guard down and cover me with that repeater in the tower. You should have good fields of fire from there on the sentries. I will try and get in amongst the droids by the door…thoughts?”

As he waited for a response, Vu’thari was already looking for the best approach to get close to the bunker without getting spotted by the patrols. The sentries had a good spread between them, so it was going to be tight.

Jake now understanding the plan nodded his head. "Might be hard to get the quietly but it should be easy enough to do." The route to the tower would mean Jake would need to sneak past or just sprint past the guards patrolling the perimeter. But if he trimmed it tight it could be done.


Jake moved next to Vuthari with his pistol drawn. " I am ready when you are. Though are you sure you can handle those droids alone?" Vuthari did not seem very heavily armed and Jake wondered his plan was to dispatch all those droids.

Grimly, the twi’lek nodded. He admired the courage of the young rebel.

He will make a great Jedi one day...

There was no perfect way to approach this with the resources they had. The entire plan would have to depend on stealth and speed. The bunker was outfitted far more than the two anticipated, but people on Ruusan…and the Galactic Alliance were counting on them.

"I am ready when you are. Though are you sure you can handle those droids alone?”

Vu’thari chuckled and answered candidly, “No, definitely not. That is why I am counting on you to get their attention. That is why my approach will put the droids between you and I. If I can get to the side of the bunker out of line of sight, their motion detectors will not sense me until I jump in amongst them. Surprise will be my ally against them—and perhaps a few volleys from that repeater…”

Jake nodded "I understand"

Moving quietly to the fence Jake all most made it all the way before a Twig gave him away just as he Got to the fence. SNAP! The guard turned and looked. The sight of a child delayed him for only a second before He raised his Blaser and fired. On instinct, his comrade fired too. Jake sprinted and jumped, pulling himself over the fence he all most made it in a clean break before a bolt hit him in the back. It was a glancing hit but the light armour jak wore meant it hurt like hell. Falling off the fence Jake rolled back to his feet and continued to sprint. By now the 2 other guards had sprinted closer to fire along with the droids. Though they seemed programmed to remain close to the door they none the lees all looked towards Jake and raised there blaster.

As Jake Dived into the bottom of the guard tower bolts slammed all around him. Scrambling up the steps Jake rushed the man holding a light Repeater. Plunging a knife into him Jake watched as it got stuck on the man's heavy duty combat armour. With a backhand across the face, Jake could taste blood as he was picked up. Attempting to throw Jake out the tower.


Braising with his feet on the railing Jake pushed back before while still being gripped in a bear hug Grabbed the grip of the repeater slung over the man's shoulder. Aiming toward the men looking up from the bottom Jake fired. Bolts erupted from the repeater as the men below dived for cover. A few bolts slamming into there armour. All eyes where on the tower or scrambling for cover.

"I understand"

Vu’thari watched as the young rebel made his way off, around to the tower. Suddenly, he heard and saw blaster fire from across the bunker where Jake was creeping up to the tower. While he worried about the young rebel, he did not have time to waste. Quickly, Vu’thari made his approach to the opposite side of the bunker. He had timed his insertion when the human guards were far away from where he was traversing. Fortunately, his approach was undetected as he came up to the side of the bunker. Knowing that as soon as he rounded the corner, the droids would sense the motion, the Jedi took a deep breath and relaxed his body. Like a torrent of water, he could feel the Force flowing through his limbs, relaxing them to a state of oneness with the ground beneath his feet, the trees, the small animals…

His bright green eyes opened and the twi’lek peeled around the corner with blinding speed, pulling his blaster pistol as he did so. The biggest threat was the one he could not allow to remain standing—the H4. It was behind the others, but all of them were facing the tower at this point. All of them began to start turning around as their motion detectors provided the data of a something approaching them at rapid speed.

Borrowing the energy of the Force under his feet, a powerful wave of concussive force slammed into the H4 before it could get its head around. With bone-crushing force, it slammed into the overhang, shattering its viewplate and rending the droid into an unusable mess. Because of the width of the concussive attack, it also caught one of the 5U Infantry Droids and sent it sprawling to the ground, pushed up against the wall. It was not out of commission, but one of its arms was mangled from the impact. Leveling his DH-7 Blaster Pistol at another infantry droid further away that was shooting up at the tower, Vu’thari cracked off a shoot, catching the infantry droid full in the back, sending that one to the earth, rendering the sentry inoperable. The Jedi was in a flurry of motion among the droids at this point. Sidestepping another infantry droid, Vu’thari barely avoided the attack, but he was able to counter by grabbing the attack hand, spinning the droid around and firing into the neck of that droid with his blaster pistol hand. Unfortunately, the droid reeled and slammed its other arm into Vu’thari’s blaster pistol, which went skidding a few feet away. At this point, Vu’thari was standing among a prone infantry droid that was rising to its feet and another droid that had leveled its rifle and was trying to get a bead on the fast moving twi’lek…

[Jake2]

Jake was still being held by the Solder as he grabbed his knife still stuck in the man's armour and twisted and bent it so he could slip it through an opening and plunged the blade into the man. Immediately the solder dropped and then kicked Jack on to the floor. Moving to kick again he was to slow as a bolt erupted from underneath as it slammed into the man's head and dropped him.

Standing up Jake grabbed the repeater, cutting the sling so he could move it without needing to drag a heavily armoured soldier with it too. Moving to the railing Jake could feel like that kick did a real number on him, enough that some kolto would be nice.


Aiming down it was clear that the droids where being handled and the human solders noticed too. With there focus away from the tower Jake aimed and fired. Blaster bolts erupted and flew towards the guards. One was hit on an already compromised section of armour dropping him. Two more took hits as they dove for cover but a fourth returned fire. Turing to shoot one of the soldier's blaster bolts slammed into the repeater both knocking it out of Jakes' hands and destroying the weapon as Jake was the one now diving for cover.

If I stop, I die…

Vu’thari knew this about combat. He never made the decision to initiate combat, but as a resident of Nar Shaddaa for five years, it was simply a way of life. It felt like slow motion as he faced the 5U droid pulling the trigger to the blaster rifle. With reflexes beyond the normal being, the twi’lek sidestepped the bolt—but it was not a complete success—hot pain exploded from his right shoulder blade as the bolt singed through is skin and into bone. Fortunately, it felt worse than it really was—once again during his life, grazed by a potentially life-ending blaster bolt. Suppressing the need to address the pain, the Jedi redirected the Force flowing through him and slammed the rifle-wielding droid into the wall, shattering the metal parts from the impact. The prone droid, who lost its blaster pistol reached over to grab it. Located approximately 20 feet away, Vu’thari was still without his weapon, which has skittered away to the corner of the bunker overhand. Extending his hand, his DH-7 blaster pistol responded by soaring through the air to Vu’thari’s waiting hand. As soon as he adjusted his grip, the twi’lek loosed a bolt, catching the prone droid in the head, finishing it.

With all the droids neutralized, the Jedi turned to address the humans that were attempting to shoot young Jake out of the repeater nest. Snapping off a shot, he caught one of the sentries that was pummeling the tower’s cover with suppressing blaster rifle fire. This fourth sentry had cover on the wrong side of Vu’thari’s shot. Connecting with the sentry, the bolt knocked the human off his feet and to the ground, unmoving. With the repeater inoperable, Vu’thari now gained the attention of the last sentry…

With the last guard distracted Jake got to his feet. He was still alive and fighting. Though the repeater was ruined Jake had his own pistol still.


Standing up Jake aimed and fired. The guard had switched to aim at Vu’thari and was exposed to Jake. The bolt hit him I the head causing him to collapse on the ground.



It seemed everyone was dead or dying. No more shots. Walking down the steps Jake left the tower and aproached Vu’thari. "That went better than expected. Guess next job is to going in side and kidnap a general. Though I doubt it will be tat easy. Any case I am ready when you are sir."

Vu’thari nodded, “Are you alright? You took a pounding up there…”

Looking over at the bunker door, he observed, “We better get in and out fast—we don’t know if they are on to us and reinforcements might be enroute as we speak.”

Padding over to the bunker door access console, the twi’lek reached into his pouch and began quickly unhinging the cover on the assembly. As an electrical engineer, he repaired blast doors all the time as long as it was an electrical issue. He was no slicer, but he could accomplish the same thing—it just took a bit longer. Pulling out the circuitry, the Jedi went to work on the wiring, striping off a pair, reconnecting them and then switching circuits on a circuit board with his small spanner. A minute later, Vu’thari looked up and smiled at Jake with a satisfied nod, “Are you ready?”

Once it looked like the young rebel was ready to go, Vu’thari touched two final wires together, rewarding the two by the bunker door rumbling open, revealing inside…

“Are you alright? You took a pounding up there…”

Jake nodded his head "I will be fine sir, not the first time I have taken a beating before and you should see the other guy"


Jake watched as his partner began to take apart and open the control panel to get access to the wires inside. As Vu’thari was busy Jake moved to behind a low wall and covered the entrance. He did not know what was waiting for them and how could he. But unknown to them their fight had not gone unwatched. The soldiers inside formed a firing line and covered the blast door ready. So when it opened Jake was face to face with 12 blasters.


Firing Jake ducked behind the wall as a barrage of return exploded on to the wall. crawling Jake to out of there cone of fire and moved to the right side of the entrance and hid behind an overturned Metal repulsor sled used to carry cargo. Aiming back at the Door Jake was ready for them to start pushing out. But at least it was only 11 now and not 12

Fortunately, the twi’lek was out of line of sight when the blast door parted. It was like an explosion of stinging insects as soon as the bunker door opened. Blaster shots shot out from inside, Jake barely avoiding the bulk of them. The young rebel managed to snap off a shot and get the first one that poured out of the opening. This was one of those times that Vu’thari really wish he had traveled with his Mandalorian allies—he was quite sure a trio of grenades would have found their way into the bunker by now. But since brute force would get he and Jake killed, they had to rely on cunning and wits…kinda.

Vu’thari called out in a loud voice from the side, “Hurry, they need our help on the southern edge!”

Immediately after that, he maneuvered his position up and over atop the bunker. Guards began pouring out, but unfortunately for Vu’thari, they were not convinced the voice was one of theirs. Instead of running off to the south, they began looking around for opposition.

Well, they found it…

Snapping off a shot from his DH-7, the bolt slammed into the neck of a heavily armored human, forcing him forward and to the ground unmoving. Another shot from the twi’lek slammed into another, dropping him. Vu’thari’s shot third shot winged a guard, causing him to drop his rifle. But they that was where the advantage of surprise came to a rapid close. One of the guards cooked up a grenade and tossed it on top of the bunker. Vu’thari’s eyes widened and he quickly dove for cover…

BOOM!

Shrapnel pieces caught him in the back and his tunic began to soak with small spots of blood. His ears were ringing and he was disoriented for a moment, but quickly got to his feet, scooping up his dropped pistol in the process…

As the men came rushing after him there attention was broken by Vu’thari so Jake was able to get to cover before an explosion rocked the soldiers. That really got the soldiers attention. With the explosion and voice, they were looking in every direction. Jake watched Vu’thari get away from the blast but he was still really close to it.


Firing a shot Jake watched it hit a solder on his armour plate and watched as buckled to his knees and struggled to catch his bearing before he started to stand up. Though before him or any of his comrades Jake was gone into the trees that surrounded the bunker. There was no way 2 could take on 12 in a stand-up fight but Jake did not plan on fighting a stand-up fight. These men would die one by one.


Already a small group headed after him while the rest focused on Vu’thari, Though now the numbers were easier to deal with for both of them.

One of the other sentries thought that was a good idea, toss another grenade up top. Vu’thari had just got to his feet when a cooked grenade was lobbed on top of the bunker. Just as the Jedi was about to redirect the grenade, it detonated…

BOOM!

The concussion grenade exploded. The Jedi found himself off his feet, tossed high in the air. Slammed into one of the surrounding trees, he heard *CRACK* from his shoulder, falling to the ground. He was completely disoriented. The twi’lek took a hard hit to his lekku, which was just as bad as taking a hit to his head. There were a few moments of blackness. He found himself up against a tree, with his arm at an awkward angle. The disorientation turned to pain and it took all his self-control to not cry out in pain…

Breathing in and out, the Jedi cleared his mind, still sitting against the tree. With a casual motion, he picked up his left arm by the wrist and twisted it. He was rewarded with a *POP*, as the dislocated shoulder snapped back into place. The bad news was that he was bleeding, recovering from a dislocated shoulder and still foggy in the head. The good news was that he was still alive and now amongst the bushes and trees.

Just as he was about to try and get to his feet, a sentry was making his way to the top of the bunker. He didn’t see the Jedi sitting down. Vu’thari lined the human up with the tree behind him and with a deep breath, released a wave of kinetic force, centered on the man’s head. With a crack, the man’s head slammed into the tree, effectively knocking the guard out…and out of the fight.

Jake Moved through the trees, 4 men were following him. Poking out from behind the trees Jake fired. The bolt slammed into his head dropping him to the ground. Before Jake could respond a grenade exploded nearby. The trees stopped most of the shrapnel and blast but it still knocked Jake to his feet. Scrambling to his feet Jake spotted the 3 remaining soldiers.


Firing Jake ran through the trees as blaster bolts exploded on trees around him as he vanished into the wood. The 3 soldiers moving moved through the woods and looked for the fleeting rebel. Though they were able to follow the trail of blood dripping from the many small cuts that covered the young rebel. Still Jake was able to stay out of there site for now

Pain was throbbing everywhere. In addition, the twi’lek was fighting to keep from blacking out. But he knew to do so was death for him. The last two sentries were working their way up around the bunker to his position. It was clear they did not know where he was yet, but on the path they were taking, they would see him sitting, leaning against the tree. Vu’thari decided to not even stand up—he didn’t want to risk the exertion, so he would have to make it work from where he was.

Peering over at the one he just fell, a blaster pistol laid at his feet. Reaching out, the Force flowed through him and the pistol wiggled off the ground and flew into the twi’lek’s waiting hand. Noticing the movement, the pair started looking around and found their compatriot’s unconscious form. Both looked around and one of them laid eyes on the sitting twi’lek. Not wasting anymore time, the twi’lek squeezed the trigger of the leveled blaster pistol, catching the man full in his unarmored chest. The last sentry was still searching for Vu’thari, but his luck just kept getting worse.

The energy pack on the acquired pistol was spent. The human female turned on the Jedi with a scowl on her face and brought the blaster rifle up, snapping it to her shoulder. Desperation fueled the concussive Force that emanated from the Jedi’s hands. Thrusting both hands forward, the kinetic force tore through the earth, shredding branches as it went and slammed with bone-crunching force into the poor bodyguard. She flew up in the air and slammed into a tree. The sickening sound of her spine collapsing from the impact could be heard from where Vu’thari was. She died instantly.

Exerted beyond what he had left in him, his eyes faded to black…

The sound of shooting had died out from the other side of the bunker. That was either a very bad thing or a very good thing. Jake could not tell right now and it did not matter. The real threat was before him now. relading his Blaster Jake peaked from around the tree and fired two shots, each one finding there mark as the soldier died. But a second shot came the side. Slamming it to Jakes' forearm it sent the blaster flying out of his hand.

The blaster had hit the guard full on and cracked it a bit but it was still good. Moving to recover his pistol Jake saw the third solder and rushed him. He spun around and tried to slam the but of his rifle into Jakes Face but a quick move had it hit Jakes arm instead. The Guard absorbed most of it but it still hurt. Exposed with his arms out the solder could not stop the knife as it came up through the chin into the head. Pulling it out Jake moved through the trees now only armed with a knife with a solder still close on him,

His eyes blinked open, seeing the twilight sky and the high branches from the trees overhead. Pain assaulted him as he worked to clear the haze from his head. His mind was swimming, trying to make sense of where he was and what was going on. Whenever Vu’thari was in a bind like this, he always took a deep breath and exhaled, drawing the Force to flow through him.

It was quiet. Another blaster shot from the other side of the bunker. Jake was still fighting. Summoning what strength he could, the twi’lek pushed himself off the large tree and the cold earth. As he made his way over, he saw his DH-7 over on the other side of the bunker. One look at the weapon and he knew he couldn’t walk over there. To Vu’thari, drawing the weapon in with the Force was easier than the exertion he would face limping over there.

Coming up over the bunker to the other side, he saw another guard searching the forest for his companion. Vu’thari was making plenty of racket making his way across, losing any sort of stealth advantage he could be hoping for. The guard turned and began leveling his rifle at the newly found enemy. It was a matter of speed and Vu’thari had the drop on him. A bolt streaked out from his DH-7 and caught the guard in the chest, spinning the guard around and laying him low.

Making his way over, he whistled to get Jake’s attention. Now, they just had to go in and take the leader of the rebelling forces, captive…what could possibly go wrong?

Vu’thari's mental thought of this produced a slight chuckle…everything had gone wrong today. It was a miracle he was still standing…so far.
