KASHYYYK
As Hal and his two companions made their way along the Wookiee settlement's winding pathways, the Knight couldn't help but muse that despite being hundreds of feet above sea level, the air was still thick and humid. Thankfully, he'd had the foresight to avoid wearing his traditional Jedi robes - which would've been drenched with sweat by this point - and instead wore a simple white tunic alongside the usual Jedi apparatus. His lightsaber, typically holstered at his hip, was discreetly tucked into the back of his utility belt, where it wouldn't interfere with his range of motion.

Em-One, however, had taken his usual perch on Hal's shoulder, and was chirping contently in Binary as if mimicking birdsong. Even if Maiko didn't understand what the droid was saying, it was easy for one to tell that the little scout droid possessed an unusually prominent positive attitude - which was in stark contrast to the unreadable atmosphere surrounding Hal himself.

As if suddenly becoming cognizant of his demeanor, Hal cleared his throat and glanced over towards his padawan accomplice. At a very initial glance, Maiko seemed to be a kind-hearted, gentle kid - but then again looks could be deceiving. Hal himself was barely older than the padawan, but something about his aura suggested maturity beyond his years. Not darkness - but a weight nonetheless. However, that weight evaporated when the Knight shot the padawan an easygoing grin.

"I hear you're somethin' of a healer kid." Hal nodded in approval before turning his head back to the path ahead. His voice was laidback and confident, but youthful too. "That's good. The Order could always use more people like you. I can't say I'm much of a healer myself. Who knows? Maybe you'll end up teaching me a thing or two." Em-One chirped in agreement. "I'm Hal, by the way, Hal Mikko. Don't think I ever formally introduced myself. And my friend here -" he pointed to the diminutive droid, who waved one of its tiny appendages in greeting, "is Em-One. How 'bout you kid, what's your name?"

Technically Hal knew Maiko's name - it wasn't as if the Order had sent him into this mission completely blind - but it was always a good idea to form some camaraderie before the work started. After all, he had a feeling this was gonna be a long day...

Traveling with Master Voran had opened up another avenue that Maiko seized excitedly with both hands. While he missed the peace offered by the Temple on Yavin-4, the younglings he cherished like little siblings, and the solid but comforting presence of his friends, the young padawan wouldn't deny the amazement he still felt whenever he was openly reminded time and again that there was life outside all of that.

Maiko was clad in the same outfit as Master Hal's, with the obvious absence of the grey beanie he almost always wore atop his head. Slung on the padawan's back was his trusty training staff, the weapon having seen its practical and combat uses for quite a while now. The construction of his very own lightsaber was coming along nicely as well.

He was content to remain quiet as he dutifully followed the Jedi Knight, drinking in the sight of the forest and the trail before them. The forests of Kashyyyk were denser than that of Sorgan's, but the life thrumming all around them reminded Maiko of home nonetheless. It would've soothed him if it weren't for the fact that they were here to give aid to hapless refugees who decided to take shelter and find peace in the homeworld of the Wookies. Ever the kind soul raised by a loving family, Maiko's heart ached for the afflicted refugees. They have the right to live peacefully as much as everyone else, and he silently vowed to himself that he would do everything within the extent of his capabilities to help the refugees as much as he could.

At the sound of the Knight's voice and the easygoing grin sent his way, Maiko responded with a kind smile and a nod.

"Yes, Master. I aim to be one as well like my Master before me," he supplied helpfully.

To be perfectly honest, Maiko had expected that his Master would be coming to Kashyyyk to give her aid as well. But with Master Vinry Forge's proposal, the Council deemed it wise to have the Padawans be guided by other Masters and Knights. The senior Jedi would be observing the students' progress and how they would handle the problems that arose in the refugee camp. Maiko was eager to learn from other Jedi as much as he was with Master Voran, and at his Master's behest he had signed up for the mission.

But to hear a Knight comment about learning something from a padawan?

Maiko smiled bashfully, lifting one hand to rub the back of his neck rather gingerly. He dipped his head repsectfully at Master Hal's introduction and waved back cheerfully at the droid.

"Pleased to meet you and work with you, Master Hal, Em-One," he said deferentially. "I'm Maiko, Master. Maiko Sigur, Jedi Knight Alexandria Voran's padawan."

He didn't know if the two Knights knew each other, but he just felt it right to throw in his Master's name in the introduction. He greatly admired his Master, and he was not shy to make it known.

Maiko didn't fail to notice the absence of the other padawan he was supposed to be working with. He had been told that the padawans were to be grouped by pairs under one Knight's supervision. But where was the other one?

Slight worry crept in the young padawan's heart as he gazed around the path then back to Master Hal.

"Master Hal? Is it only going to be the two of us who would give medical assitance to the refugees?"

He hoped the other padawan was just late and hadn't come into any form of trouble along the way.

Beau had not learned of the Jedi mission to Kashyyyk, she had no idea that the Jedi even knew about what was happening here. The Wookiees were nice in their own way, but they walked about like they had sticks up their asses, the lot of them. Very long, very uncomfortable sticks. She had stumbled upon this little situation because of luck, the Wookiees had refused to ask for help even though she needed it. So when she saw the two Jedi walking through the refugee camp she was pleasantly surprised.

"Yo, Master Jedi, this way!" She called out to catch their attention. "What brings you here, young masters? Know of a Jedi presence on Kashyyyk, I did not. Yes, hrrrm. Most curious."

The two Jedi would turn to spot the little green woman sitting among a group of children, juggling three or four bottles to keep them entertained while their parents stood huddled around a nearby tent, which seemed to be serving as the medical center for this part of the camp. She would wait for them to approach, before rising from the ground and leading them to the side so that they could talk away from the children.

"Beau I am, padawan in the Jedi Order," she introduced herself, "glad am I to see you! Surprised, yes, but also glad." She glanced back at the children, worry on her face. "Sick they are, and I know not how best to help them. Here to help are you? Yes?"
