Hi guys, I'm an old hand at role playing, I know quite a bit about Star Wars. I plan to make an Imperial Knight character or make my own mercenary faction, depending on different factors. There are too many Star Wars role playing games out with very rigid structures, I'm looking forward to a more free form sandbox type of experience.

Got any advice for a new player wanting to make a gray force using character?

Hello and welcome to the site!! As boring as it sounds, I'd direct you to read the rules of this forum as well as the welcome sticky first. Other than that, you can ask questions on the forum, or to the various administrators if you are unsure. This sticky tells you who to contact and for what :)
I am not the most qualified to answer questions about gray Jedis, but welcome anyhow :D

Welcome man, as Franny said probably referring the the welcome board rules and outlines is the easiest way.

As for a gray Jedi, I would imagine just like most characters it can be without a faction and independent in this world but still can't be without the rules of strength and such!

The rules you asked about regarding RP can be found here, whilst the Hutt Cartel information can be found on their forum here, alongside their sign-up thread. I would be more than happy to help you throw some ideas around regarding your character, so just shoot me a PM, and if you have any questions relating to the Hutt Cartel, by all means ask me - however you can also ask the Cartels 'Faction Leader' (The Dude in charge) @ZayPat.
