Imperial Coruscant, Undercity

Jarek was... Well if truth be told he was a little bit lost. He had heard rumor that his sister was on Coruscant, so, to Coruscant he had came. From there the trail dried up, so he had spent his time searching high and low. At this point he was on the low part of such a search. He had begun in the towers, so many towers. Soooooooo many towers.

Coruscant was big. Brentaal IV was no small planet, but Coruscant was just. Vast. Vast in a way that was likely beyond the scope of human imagination, or that's what Jarek thought. Tired of spire after spire, Jarek had decided to try his luck in the Undercity. He had heard rumor that the lower levels were dangerous, poverty ridden squalors. Which was, in his mind, just awful.

He had ridden down one of the giant elevators that traversed the heights and depths of Coruscant. Down, down, down, and down. He had to pop his ears every few minutes as the altitude change built up pressure in his head. A Sith among the people, squeezing his nose and blowing every few minutes.

He had ended up getting lost pretty quickly after getting off the elevator. About five minutes after following a little girl who had eagerly told him that she knew where his sister was when he asked. After guiding him through alleyways, over roof tops and down into urban ravines, she had seemingly dissapeared as she turned a corner ahead of him. Scratching his head, Jarek proceeded, wondering if he had fallen behind.

That had been two hours ago. Standing on a bustling under city street corner, a crowd of unwashed, grime ridden underdwellers travelled about a street market, where various junk and food pedalers marketed their wares. It would be hard for some, including Jarek, to tell the difference between the two. Was gutter slime junk or food, he wondered, glancing at the slime salesman who screamed at him in some alien language. Rolling his eyes, he approached the slime dealer.

"Do you speak basic!?" He yelled loudly at the alien, gesturing with his hands outwards to somehow pantomime speaking. More alien rambling and screeching. "DO.YOU.SPEAK... ugh, HAVE. YOU. SEEN. THIS. GIRL." he shouted, slowly, maybe that would help the alien understand him. And loudly. Pulling a holo of his sister out of his pocket as he shouted, a holographic image of her appearing, spinning slowly. The alien just squawked and gestured. Deactivating the holo, Jarek groaned in frustration and turned the direction the alien was squaking in. Blowing a stray hair out of his eye, he waded into the crowd.

OOC: Just looking to run into people and do fun stuff, but if you want it come get some I guess.

The deep underbelly of Coruscant; it probably wasn't the greatest pick for a "vacation", yet at the same time Demolly found herself drawn to it. She wanted to experience it, the people and how they lived. Maybe even learn how to survive in it. She was pampered, really, where she was from. So far the experience was terrible, as expected, but she kept going. There was some spice she wanted to try in this area and she was onto a lead about it until a little girl came up to her.

"Miss," the girl chirped with her little voice, tugging on Demolly's long pink sweater. "There's a man looking for you in the market."

Demolly blinked down at the little girl, surprised she had brought the info to her until the girl rose her hand up. Oh, the young Sith thought, finally catching onto why the girl had. The young Sith plucked a few credits from her pocket, placing them in the girls small hand. "Thanks. What can you tell me about him?"

The little girl stared at Demolly in return, still with her hand extended out. Demolly wanted to be annoyed, but couldn't help but laugh. The little girl was pretty smart for her age. "Right," Demolly said, putting another credit chip in the girls hand.

"He's tall, pale, with brown hair and yellow eyes,"
the girl said happily, stuffing the credits in her pocket.

Demolly frowned, feeling anger begin to stir inside her. Without answering the girl, Demolly smothered her signature and marched to the market. As soon as she made it, she started to sneak around, behind people, their makeshift kiosks and random piles of trash or barrels until she caught sight of exactly who she thought she'd see.

Subduing her temper just enough not to explode, she noticed he was speaking to a slime salesman. Demolly smirked through her clenched jaw, brought her hand up and wrapped the Force around one of the slim pots above Jarek. She tipped it over as fast as she could, in an attempt to cover Jarek's entire upper body with the disgusting puke-green slim; thick, chunky, oozy slim that permeated the entire area with it's nauseating smell.

"JAREK!" Demolly screamed after, the deepness in her voice clearly projecting her anger. "What the hell are you doing here?!" she growled, moving towards him with clenched fists, half tempted to pull her sabers out and stab him through his big stupid head. "Did father send you? I swear to the Force if you say yes I'm going to..."

The undercity was a great place to find all the shady, questionable people and equipment that made the intelligence community tick. Varyn didn’t like it, but it was a necessary part of life that he’d grown accustomed to. It was rarely somewhere he spent time if he could avoid it, but more often than not, he just couldn’t avoid it.

That was the case today, it seemed. Varyn’s paranoia had the better of him, so he kept feelers on what was going on involving his people - the Venatori. Not tracking their movements, mind you, but making sure of any threats to them on world.

Normally simply questioning people wouldn’t be enough to raise one of his alarm bells, but after going to enough towers and asking around, Varyn caught wind of it. Then the hunt was afoot.

Unfortunately, tracking someone on Coruscant - as Jarek was discovering - wasn’t easy. After a descent into the underbelly of the city, Varyn finally picked up the scent. He had no idea who he was following, but that was the whole point: find out who was asking.

He just saw someone holding a small projector in hand and talking - no, screaming - at a slime dealer when there was more shouting. Wait, had Demolly found the man searching for her? What had he stumbled onto? He wasn’t sure, but began to tentatively approach, keeping a straight face despite the confusion and curiosity creeping up on him.

Jarek was just turning away from the slime dealer when two things happened at once. Jarek's senses picked up... something. That something being a pot of slime tumbling off its shelf and spilling its contents all over Jarek's front. Looking down in disgust as the pungent odor began its assault on his nostrils, his ears were likewise assaulted by a familiar, and angry, voice.

Turning to be greeted by the sight of his little sister screaming at him in anger, Jarek forgot all about the slime covering him as his face lit up in a grin. "Demolly!" He shouted in delight as his long arms reached out to embrace the much shorter Ysirath. "I've been looking all over for you! Do you know how many doors i knocked on trying to find you?" Wrapping his arms around her and pulling her into his slime covered hug. Looking down at his sister her frowned as he realized she was covered in disgusting slime. "You're a mess. No wonder Father sent me to look for you."

Looking around, he realized they were being approached, A man coming out of the crowd to approach them. "Get behind me." He hissed to his sister through clenched teeth as he stepped forwards, an arm subtly nudging her behind him as he addressed the newcomer. "Can i help you?" His mind lay on the lightsaber hidden beneath his cloak behind his back, the double bladed weapon ready to spring forward into his hands if the newcomer turned out to be a threat. @Dread @Phoenix

Varyn's brow furrowed at what he was watching. It wasn't exactly what he expected, and he didn't like that. Fine, so he was a stickler for not having the unexpected happen, but time to improvise? Improvise to what? He didn't even know what he was watching yet. The man - whoever he was - was now covered in slime and moments later he was embracing Demolly.

He moved a bit quicker, expecting the embrace to turn into a stab, but it didn't. In fact, his quicker movements seemed to draw the attention of the man who pushed Demolly behind him. A defensive move, and given who she was, he figured it either was excessive, a familial instinct, or this man was quite the fighter. Regardless of the reasoning, the logic led to one conclusion: he wasn't here to kill her.

I was going to ask you the same thing, he said, not moving in a threatening manner. He could tell whoever this was was on edge, and for good reason. Likely Sith or... other Force user? Or maybe at the end of the day, Varyn had stumbled onto something he wasn't supposed to and they were both about to try to kill him. The thought caused him to pause up short of arms reach. Care to introduce us, Demolly? he asked with a raised eyebrow. @Dread @Arclight

Demolly wasn't able to finish her sentence before finding herself embraced in her brothers arms. Her first reaction was to grunt a half-annoyed, "Jerak..." She was only half-annoyed because it reminded her that family could be warm sometimes.

However, her second reaction came only a few heartbeats later when it suddenly dawned on her that he had covered her in slime because of it. She let out a scream; a scream of complete, total, I'm-going-to-kill-you-Jarek disgust, "EWWW! EWWWWWWWW! JERAK! UGHhhHHH!". Her hands shot straight up to push him away as fast as she could.

Really? Really?? That had to happen?!

She was seething.

Then... then... THEN he straight up admitted that their father had sent him. Demolly was about to completely lose it before Jarek told her to get behind him, which confused her in her state of blind rage. When he turned towards someone and tried to push her behind him, a lot of emotions ran through her. Thankfully for Jarek's sake, and quite possibly his life, most of it was confusion followed shortly by surprise when she saw Varyn.

"Varyn...?" Demolly's voice softened as she spoke to herself. Why was he here? "This...this is my brother, Jarek," she answered simply.

As the confusion passed, her anger resurfaced somewhat, realizing now that she was still mad at her brother. She slapped at Jarek's arm near her. "And I'm not a child anymore, Jarek, I don't need you to protect me. This is my..." She paused. What was Varyn to her besides a Venatori? "My friend? Uhm, Varyn."

Demolly was MAAAAAAD. That was for certain. Between the screaming and pushing it was clear to Jarek that he had screwed up somehow. But none of that mattered now as he stared down the man who had approached them. He seemed... Sith. More shocking however was that Demolly seemed to know this man. Blinking once in surprise when Demolly spoke the man's name and introduced Jarek, he looked at her in time for her to smack his arm. It didn't hurt but it did inform him that his sister was still mad.

"Friend?" Jarek raised an eyebrows at the hesitant explanation before giving the "Varyn" character a once over. Dark clothes, sinister sword on the hip. Definitely Sith. And older than him. Much too old for his sister. "Isn't he a bit old for you?" He hissed at his sister through the side of his mouth, never taking his eyes off the man who was apparently Demolly's boyfriend.

"So. How long have you and my sister been dating?" And am i going to have to kill you? The undertone carried clear in his voice as he assessed the man. He seemed dangerous. Held himself with the casual grace of a swordsman. But otherwise Jarek couldn't get much of a read on him, which in itself told him much. The man seemed dangerous. Which probably meant bad news for his sister. @Dread @Phoenix

Brother? That was a tad unexpected to see him appearing here, but that would certainly make a great deal of sense to how he was acting around her. Understandably Demolly was a bit confused as well, and it dawned on Varyn that this probably looked a little bit stalker-ish, but it was an innocent mistake. Or as innocent as Varyn ever was in anything.

My, my, aren't we presumptive, he said flatly to Jarek. The other man's stance was both passive and aggressive at once. Ready to strike, but not making the first blow. He pondered the likelihood and possibility of him suddenly charging Varyn. Unlikely and illogical, but the assassin had known plenty of men - Sith especially - whose first course was irrational violence. He'd keep that in the back of his mind going forward.

When people go to every tower on Coruscant asking around, it tends to attract attention, he quipped as he began to explain why he was here. And when those questions are about a friend of mine and lead here - he said motioning around the the scummy underbelly of Coruscant where people were murdered for a dime on the regular - I tend to take notice.

Varyn, though she was courteous enough to introduce us, he said with a greeting nod. He considered extending a hand, but had decided the greeting a tad too dangerous after he once saw a handshake turn into an amputation. One minute they were shaking, the next someone's hand was on the ground with a stump pouring blood. Sith could be so unpredictable.

I take it you're not here to kill her then? he asked, glancing at Demolly who had seemed quite angry and trying to gauge whether - family or not - this might devolve.

Demolly's first instinct was to clench her fists tightly because she wanted to punch Jarek in his stupid face for suggesting something like that. She barely even knew Varyn, let alone had thoughts about him besides those questioning why he was here in the first place. She listened, however, as Varyn spoke and felt her heart soften somewhat. He was here because he heard someone was looking for her. He wanted to... protect her?

She looked away from them both as that sunk in. Joining the Venatori had more perks than she first realized, and, really, it was sweet that Varyn had come in the first place. She doubted that many Sith would go out of their way to not only protect someone they barely knew but track down a possible assassin to do so.

Looking back, she moved to place herself between the two men. Despite badly wanting to kill her brother right now, she didn't want him and Varyn to end up fighting. She knew that both her brother and Varyn were extremely skilled fighters and so, she wasn't exactly sure what would happen in the end. Besides, she wasn't looking to draw that type of attention their way.

If no one stopped her, she'd face her brother, putting her back to Varyn. It was a risk to turn her back on a sith but... he had earned some of her trust. In fact, she trusted him more right now than her own brother. As she came to a stop, she answered Varyn, "Jarek's an idiot. A massive idiot, but he wouldn't hurt me."

After pausing to let out a sigh, she addressed something else that needed to be addressed, "Brother, you need to actually listen to me right now." Demolly looked him straight in the eyes, trying to get across how serious she was being. "I'm not going home, and if you try to force me to I'm going to resist." She tapped her foot absentmindedly, annoyed to even think he'd try. "I left because I wanted and needed to. So go home. Please."

Things were unfolding rather swiftly, and Jarek was beginning to wonder if he had been wrong about the whole situation. While Varyn never outright denied that he was Demolly's boyfriend. In fact neither of them did. And then Demolly had to go an put herself in the middle of things, blocking Jarek's attempts to protect her from the boyfriend/stalker type that she seemed to have gotten herself wrapped up with.

"Massive idiot? That's a bit uncalled for don't you think?" He grumbled at Demolly's description of him, though she was right that he had not intention of hurting her. Of course none of that mattered as she proceeded, her tone resolute as she put her foot down, figuratively. "I'm not here to... Okay yes father sent me to bring you home, but that's not why i came." He began to reach out, to lay his hands on her shoulder's but thought better of it it. She was still mad after all. Glancing from her to the stern and serious Sith behind her, Jarek considered how to proceed. For half a moment.

"I understand why you left. Father is... well, you know." Overbearing. Controlling. Malicious. The unspoken words lingered in Jarek's mind. He had been the man's pawn for years and had finally had enough. "I'm tired of being his pawn, I didn't come here to bring you back to him. I'm here for the same reason you are." Finally putting his hands on her shoulder's in a gesture of solidarity. Remembering they weren't alone, Jarek once more glanced at Varyn over Demolly's head. "Unless he's the reason you're here, then i'm not here for the same reason you are." @Dread @Phoenix

This was apparently some sort of family feud that he'd walked into, which just made this all the more strange. Despite the tension between the siblings - which was very evident - it didn't seem that the two of them actually disliked each other so much as just the standard sibling rivalry. It also meant that the danger to them was... well, probably not a danger at all. It didn't go unnoticed to Varyn that the Sith woman had turned her back on him. Or perhaps it was a matter of distrusting her brother that much.

In fact, this almost made him want to just do the shuffle out of here, and brought back memories of the little showdown with the Mandalorians when Eddard had been shot in the foot. Maybe it was time for Varyn to stop getting involved in other people's business.

Do you two need some time? he asked, taking a few steps back and fully intending to leave them to their argument. It was clear that this wasn't a matter of danger, and it was also clear to even the untrained eye that these two needed to sort some things out. He glanced at Demolly to see if there was any indication of needing him further, quirking an eyebrow slightly. @Dread @Arclight
