A Holonet Address,
from the honorable Senator Diran
of Celandon

The feed would begin, casting the face of the young Iridonian with a simple violet background. The collar upon his formal fashion of robes met his jawline, almost precisely where the thin stripe of tattoo reached. His thronelike chair was of a similar color to the violet, reaching up past the top of the viewing box. Diran's expression, while maintaining a cordiality of pleasantness, was accentuated by a small furrowing of the brow to demonstrate purpose. The Zabrak allowed himself a deep breath before beginning, his voice projected as confident, yet stressed.

Good day, great people of Coruscant, and to everyone else viewing. You are all equally valued by myself and so many.
To introduce myself, I am Senator Diran of Celandon, newly elected. I campaigned on the pledges of reform, and it is reform that I shall fight for day in and day out. Unfortunately, the Alliance needs no greater reform then that of it's concern of it's people.
We find ourselves in the Boiling Point of the Vicious Cycle once more. There is no lying to any of you anymore; war is becoming an inevitability. Unfortunately, the majority of Senators refuse to consider mobilization; they would apparently rather have billions of you murdered as war-cause before preparing to engage the enemy. The security forces here on Coruscant and across the galaxy are stretched far beyond practicality, in fact, it was only last evening that a security officer snapped and heartlessly murdered two of his own colleagues and attempted to slay a Jedi. Behold the fruits of over-pacifism and under-consideration.
Another problem is, even if we mobilized, there is small chance of your planet receiving defense; the Alliance has shown a past tendency to create one central armada and hope that the rest of the galaxy can survive without it. Tell me, good people of the Alliance, how is that being Allies? How is that representing your very life, or those of your loved ones?
This evening, I am going to attempt to present two different pieces of legislation to the Congress. The first is a mandatory one-year conscription of everyone at the age of twenty by human years and the decentralization of our military. I know that many of you are already eager to defend yourselves and your homeland, only waiting for the call to arms but praying it doesn't come after the Empire annihilates all that you hold dear.
The problem is, mobilization is not cheap, nor is the training or arms required; therefore, the second piece of legislation I am going to propose is the centralization of all taxes and tariffs, to better enable the Alliance to allocate the resources needed for a full-scale conflict; and there is no lying to you. We are on the brink of war. Do you want to lose your loved ones, sleeping comfortably in their beds, to crimson-bladed marauders, or do you want to fight? I encourage you to reach out to the Congress and support my cause if you find it worthy, and let us find a way together to end this Vicious Cycle once and for all. Thank you.
