Ruusan, Mid Rim, P-11

Ner’Giza faced her co-conspirators across the table in the command station of The Nightingale going over finances of all things. Master Luy wanted a big honkin civilian vessel and so naturally they all had leapt at the chance to acquire it for him. Only the old codger was stiffing them for the bill. WHo knew Jedi could be so devious. Who knew they were all so easy to read. Who knew they were all so gullible. Well, the answer was as plain as the tentacles on the overgrown behemoth's head. She sighed heavily and slapped her case of creds down on the table. It was everything she had made on bounty hunting for the last month combined and still would not be enough. Her new co-pilot Nyassheeeghrorr, or Nyash for short, laughed as he saw her letting go of her hard won funds as he still didn’t see what the big deal was about just stealing a ship for the Feeorin. What Master Luy didn’t know wouldn’t hurt him, right? She was a bit more skeptical about what the elderly man did and didn’t know.

They were headed for Ruusan, that much was easy. They had learned through the pirate contacts of Ashlynn Talmount they had a semi-legal black market auction going on. She cued up the specs on the comm to cause the holographic image of the Grey Lady to hover over the table round which they were gathered. Naturally she thought the CL7 Transistar bluk passenger liner was about the ugliest thing she had ever seen. They could pimp her out later though because no way would they find a better price than on a ship that had been repossessed! It was your typical blue light special for sure. If they could manage to purchase the vessel it would be a miracle. At least she had plenty of able bodied Wookies to help man the crew the huge liner would require. They had attached themselves to the Twi’lek after their rescue from the slaver factory on the orbital platform above Nal Shaddaa and were attending to their life debt they owed her.

Naturally she thought such a thing was ridiculous and suspected it was just an excuse of Commander Greybok to make sure she didn’t crash their new Corvette or some such stuff. At any rate she was learning how to swear in Shyriiwooki. But for someone who had a slight aversion to hair it was a lesson in forbearance. SIghing and giving Nyash a heavy sigh, she set her eyes on her partners for the mission and opened the case on the table to reveal it was full of creds. ”Alright then, I showed you mine. How much did you guys bring?”

While the crew kept them on course through hyperspace, they had a few more hours to plot before reaching the shipyards. Hopefully they could at least make a down payment. Perhaps if she forged her uncle’s name as a co-signer the auctioneer would go for it. Otherwise she was at quite a loss how they could manage the deal.

Funds acquired during these missions:

Karacaldra's ears were flat against her head as she sat, wearing her military uniform from her former world as she fidgeted with the rim of her cap, her blue eyes staring at Ner'Giza like a pair of hardened sapphires as she sat in silence. Her tail swished nervously as she spoke.

"I had signed up for this mission, with the goal to help these people become stronger assets. With the intention of adding my own funds..." Her voice was a bit deep, and her s's were drawn out a bit as she spoke. The 8 ft tall togorian marine then lowered the brim of her cap slightly, ears pressed down and head tilted low as she spoke.

"However, complications have arose. Mainly...my Former Commanding officer has frozen all of my funds. Citing Desertion...and being a bad daughter..." The words made her feel embarrassed beyond belief, and luckily her white fur hid her blushing as she burring her face in her hands, shaking her head.

"Maybe we can commandeer a vessel...The empire has many ships they've earned through illegal activity. Taking it from there, would just be appropriating them back to their rightful owners...in a sense." She tried to spin it but there was no sugar coating it, and Karacaldra had to finally sigh as she spoke. "I'm broke..." she finally muttered in defeat, putting her head into her lap as she shook her head, "She actually took all my credits...I'm destitute.".

Joran was listening to the conversation about gathering the finances for the ship. So far, it had been uninteresting, but there was a funny moment in there. The first person was full of money. Good for him. The second... Not so much. When revealing she was bankrupt, the insides of Joran erupted in laughter. He didn’t show it on the outside, but he found plenty of amusement in the matter. Then he got series
“I have a few credits here and there but not much.”

Jake knew a lot about Ruusan. He had fought a few fights on the planet. Though this time he was here for difrent job. A job to help Master Luy get a big ship, one of those civilian freighters. Though all things needed money.

Russan was a planet of black markets and ilegal activities even so Jake had helped the government bring two terrorist to justice. Perhaps there was a way Jake could get some one in the justice department to help. Maybe they knew of some smugglers that could have some of there cargo be removed or maybe just pay them for a job. Either way Jake maybe the youngest here but he knew far more about Ruusan than any of the others abourd this ship. Other than that all Jake had to sell was a freighter that he had stolen and his pistol though it would take a lot for Jake to hand over his pistol.

"Russan has many ways we can get money. The government there is not freindly to the empire so we could ask them for assistance. Covertly for some money maybe through work or by pointing us in the right direction. I have some contacts there from helping them in a internal conflict so they kind of owe me more than a few favors. We will have to keep it low key though."

Eyeing her teammates, though she thought a better term would be fellow patrons, she waited in expectation of what they would be adding to the pot, as it were. The Togorian’s resonating tones drew her attention and as Karacaldra went on, Nera’s hopes began to lessen. It seemed the marine was not only strapped for funds but cut off from what creds she did have by some officer? Wait, desertion? Daughter? The Twi’lek’s painted eyebrows raised as her eyes widened, her hand coming to rub at the back of her neck as she wondered what she could say to that? Well gee dear that bites but… Nera was practical minded but she was hardly ever crass. Such a delicate matter, like family, well no way was she going to be prying into that can of worms. It was not like her own parents had won any awards for tenderness.

”Well of more importance to the mission than your creds is you showed up anyway. If it comes to, commandeering a vessel we’re gonna need your skills, not your incomes”, she commented then fell quiet as Joran spoke next. He seemed to have a bit to add but she was quick to caution, ”Only put in what you can spare. No way do I suppose that Master Luy expects us to go hungry. We’ll think of something.”

When Jake put forth his idea she knew he spoke the truth. She and Aurel had been on Ruusan during the conflict with Master Aurora Blackwood taking relief supplies to a bombed out village. For certain the Alliance’s assistance during that whole affair had earned quite a lot of good will. She had stayed out of the political aspect of things so it was good that Jake had volunteered for this return mission, although now it was the Alliance coming to seek aid. It fit with her mentality, scratching backs and all that. ”I’m all for calling in debts even if we have to pull a job to help sweeten the pot. Care to tell us more what you have in mind Jake?”, she asked the youth. When she was his age she too had been thrown into a life that most people of more advanced years would not have chosen to risk. Even though that had been at least half a life time ago for the 33 year old Twi’lek, she didn’t just assume being older meant being more capable.

"Ruusan? Would they really be willing to give us a Ship for this venture?" Karacaldra asked, still a bit depressed over what had come of her families relationship. To her mother and former superior officer, the Galactic Alliance was a glorified Pirate Outfit. One that had gained the attention of the Empire, but didn't have the firepower to hold them off.

Perhaps it was fear, or a misplaced sense of protection, but her mother had made it clear. Her being out here, meant she was on her own, completely. Still, she couldn't let that get to her. No matter how much that hurt, there was more pressing matters. "If those on at Ruusan have a means of getting us a ship. I'd be willing to do what it takes."

Joran listened to the meeting, trying to get a sense of the conversation, though his mind always seemed to drift back to his days as an actual Imperial. Where funds wasn't an issue, you just waved a lightsabre or blaster, or just plain begged for some funds and you would have some by the end of the hour. Ah, the Rebels. Perhaps it was a good thing that they had to work for everything. It made him, and any former Imperial far more... Grateful for the comforts which they did have. But now they had to work like everyone else. He looked at Jake, waiting for an answer, and saying nothing. He didn't really have much expertise in the area. Probably better for him to shut up a bit

Jake gave it a few seconds before talking again. "so, we will need money for this deal. There are a lot of smugglers and such on Russan who have cargo that the government might not like. If we do so. E freelance work for them they might turn a blind eye if we keep the Money."

Jake knew it was vague but there was very little ways to make money at least the amount they needed. So best choice they had was to steal it from drug dealers.

The Twi’lek nodded thoughtfully knowing thus far all their ideas were mere speculation. Even so, a person had to start somewhere and she knew whatever plan they made it would require they work for it. Stealing from smugglers was risky business at best, however, not to mention finding a crew worth stealing from. The intel concerning just the right crew at the right time and place was not something that would just land in their lap either. Fortunately they had plenty of time to kill and could afford to investigate their options.

When at last she spoke she was hopeful they would turn up something that would get them the funds they needed. ”I suggest you call in those favors then, Jake. Get us a line on any job we can do in service of the government. This won’t be the first time the Alliance has stepped in to give Ruusan aid so they will already be familiar with how useful we can be”, she said. Her hand came up to rub at the back of her neck falling silent for a moment as she recalled the burned out village to which she, Aurel, and Aurora had delivered relief supplies. Looking up she added, ”Don’t be shy about reminding them; we are good friends to have.”

"I agree. With the empire the way it is, we're gonna need all the help we can get, and to call in any favors we can." Karacaldra said as she crossed her arms. It wasn't like she enjoyed the idea of holding good deeds over the heads of others. It was more or less the fact that she had to, they were to have any hope of getting this done. As far as she could see, it was an unfortunate side effect of having to do business when you were an underdog organization.

Jake nodded his head and started to type away on his data Pad. "I am Sure once we get there i will have some thing for use. Lost jobs on Ruusan." Jake looked at the data pad for a bit "So our best bet is to recover one from smugglers or get money to buy our own one. Both are options that we can go for. Either way it will be leg work"

She nodded her head and said, ”Hopefully it won’t come to stealing a ship. A vessel of that size is not going to be easy pickings and would hardly be wandering around without some pretty hefty escorts and while it would not be impossible I wouldn’t want to tackle such a job without the full support of an entire fighter squadron.” The woman sighed getting the distinct feeling they were over thinking this and making it harder than it had to be. She was tired, running herself a bit ragged, and more than likely that was to blame.

Looking at the display on the consul she came to a decision. ”Let’s convene back here in an hour. Hopefully there will be some sort of communication from your contacts, Jake. In the meantime get some rest. For certain whatever pans out we will want to be at our best for the task ahead.” Unless either had anything else to say she would exit the control room and head to her berth for a power nap.

Gifted with the remarkable ability to fall asleep with little to no effort in just about any place, she was out as soon as her head hit the pillow. She did not dream, at least that she could remember, and in little to no time at all 99’s voice was waking her up. So it was when she returned to the control room for their meeting it was with a certain sense of expectancy that she awaited what news Jake had discovered.

Karacaldra nodded, taking the time to work on her Vibrosword, making small calibrations to it as she worked on waited for the time to reconvene. This was certainly a difficult task, and she couldn't help but wonder what they might end up doing something illegal to get this ship. The prospect of becoming a pirate had crossed her mind, the rebellion after all needed supplies, and the empire had them.

But she wasn't sure if she could go through with such a plan. She had to hope jake's connections came through. She rejoined the others, hoping for some good news from either of them.
