What if there was something like a Second Yuuzhan Vong War or a second Swarm War, assuming they were on the scales of the first conflicts of these names. Like, considering we have seen minimal technological advancement compared to what one might expect over a thousand years (and we all know how the first ones went), wouldn't it basically be Round 2 of the exact same bloodbath as before?

I would like your guys's opinions on this...

What makes you say that?

We're kinda mostly using fancier looking versions of thousand-year-old ships with flashier lights, better power supplies, and cool new Blu-Ray enhanced textures. Sometimes it has more pointy gun-bits.

So we're using better tech on our ships than a thousand years ago, is what you're saying?

If we're talking about advancement in terms of armament than I'd say we've come a long way compared to where we could be.

I would like to think that the other side to that coin is the advancement in the medical fields and other applied sciences.

OH MY GOD THIS WAS HARDLY THE QUESTION (There, I even edited out the "complete lack" of technological advancement)

Vong, Us, how would that probably go?

Zero is an exaggeration, but here is some of the official site canon:

"The basis of modern weaponry has not changed significantly since the Galactic Civil War." (Source)

In general, there hasn't been INCREDIBLE advancements, but there are some here or there. But thankfully, the Celestials who call themselves 'Administrators' have banished the Vong tech from our Universe, thus justifying the opinion that We win by default. :^)

If you mean "we" as in the rp universe, the sith would probably just glass every planet the vong or swarm show up on without hesitation. Republic wouldn't, but the republics not the ones calling the shots anymore, are they?

If you mean "we" as in the we who actually write for the site, the human race, our most advanced weapon is a form of slugthrower, and our space defense forces are 0. We'd probably be dead.

Okay, so no one read that I edited, but okay.

"We" refers to the Star Wars universe.

I understand that the Sith have no regard for what worlds they destroy, but the Vong are smarter than that. The Sith may not admit it, but they can't just indiscriminately vitrify planets, especially when MOST OF THEIR ARMIES COME FROM PLANETS. And the Vong would basically reduce them to lifeless husks anyway, so the Sith would just be doing the Vong's work for them when you think about it.

We'd win for sure. KES would send in their fleets.

The Sith use bioweapons without hesitation, war lasts a week tops.

This. Plus the Hutts aren't as vulnerable as they were then and the number of FS-badasses has increased by a thousand-fold.

The galaxy would remember the devastation from their prior invasion and quickly band together in a firestorm of whup-ass. Then you have to remember that the Galactic Alliance came up with some effective counters to the Vong technology.

Also during the first Vong war they didnt have something that exists in universe currently, the Imperial war machine, one of the reasons the first Vong war was so devastating was because the galaxy wasnt ready for a large scale conflict.

Well, FS-Badasses would fail to help as effectively as they normally would, considering the fact that the Vong are untouchable by direct force powers, like lightning and things. In my personal opinion, the Vong would still be scary as shit, regardless of the fancy tech anyone writes. Now, in regards to Politics, I might have to agree. Things would ne'er be so easily forgotten.

After a thousand years? I doubt the Galaxy would remember; otherwise the Sith would never get any headway when it comes to overthrowing existing governments each time they come back in force.

Right, because hundreds of people who are the best damn swordspeople in the entire galaxy wouldn't make a difference???? This ain't 40k, man, individuals are very important thematically in the star wars universe. Also, Pretty sure that having half your galaxy currently geared towards war production also would make a huge difference. I don't think you realize at all how long it takes to change the direction of an economy, and how much time it would take someone to be trained to effectively fight in a war.
