DESCRIPTION
The HS-1 Yellowjacket is a light starfighter inspired by the TIE/LN. Although similar in role and layout, the Yellowjacket is not made by Sienar-Jaemus Fleet Systems, the current manufacturers of the TIE line, but rather by Holcomb Garages, a small firm local to the Barancar System.

The HS-1 Yellowjacket, sometimes referred to as the "Hi-TIE," is Holcomb Garages' first foray into series production of one of their products. Designed in large part to generate positive cash flow as the company got back on its feet after their evacuation from Kessel, the Yellowjacket was inspired by company owner Helen Holcomb's experiences behind the controls of a standard TIE, her first interaction with Galactic technology after being abducted from her technologically backward home-world. Although subsequent experience flying in and against other TIEs had lowered her opinion of the type somewhat, the memory of that first flight remains, and it is this which Helen and her design team have sought to recreate.

Although similar to a TIE/LN in size and layout, the HS-1 Yellowjacket is a unique design, incorporating numerous design differences and refinements which make it a distinct craft. The most obvious of these is the cockpit viewport, which is a two-piece bubble rather than the faceted design of most TIE variants; this allows for increased visibility for the pilot. The ship's armament is fairly heavy; retained are the chin-mounted twin medium lasers of a standard TIE, but also a pair of light lasers above the cockpit, which have a higher rate of fire and are better for strafing attacks on soft targets. Top speed is a blistering 115 megalight with excellent maneuverability. The Yellowjacket is also equipped with a class 1 hyperdrive and navicomputer. There are unfortunately no shields to speak of.

Overall, HS-1 Yellowjackets have been a success for Holcomb Garages; although only a tiny portion of even the local starfighter market, the type has still garnered something of a following, and has helped immensely both to keep the company afloat and to fund certain projects.
