Are rank transfers a thing here or do I need to start my character from scratch?

I'm fine either way, though. :D

If I'm assuming your question correctly, rank transfers are indeed a thing.

e.g. rather than starting up as a Jedi Padawan or Sith Acolyte, you are more than welcome to create a character as a Jedi Knight or typical Sith.
From there, you can rank up to either Jedi Lord (or General), or in the Sith as a Sith Lord (Darth). Of course, you'll have to prove your worth that way.
