DESCRIPTION

The Hunter was created to counter the threats to supply convoys and Capital Ships in the Empire. The ship is a good counter to larger ships of 40m and larger. It cant target smaller or more maneuverable ships with its heavy weapons and depends on its own high maneuverability and forward and rear dual medium laser cannons to deal with them.

The Hunter went through two versions before the III was created and perfected. The first versions had a few problems with having a heavy Turbo laser on such a small craft. Because of the power needed to operate the turbo laser, the ship had to alternate power between the shields and the turbo laser which would burn out a lot of power converters and would take a bit of time to re-engage the shields after using the main cannons. The turbo-laser was downgraded which helped maneuverability but the power needs problems continued. What came next was genius, one of the engineers working on the project, came up with stripping the Turbo laser from the power core and thus ending the need to switch the power between the two, this however, caused a problem with the turbo laser power needs. The next step to this plan was to add a cartridge mechanism to the turbo laser, much like that of a handheld blaster. Thus, creating an eight shot turbo laser cartridge (meaning the dual medium-turbo laser may be fired four times before it must be reloaded). Another problem with this however, was that the reloading station took up too much room in the small craft and had to be removed, again meaning after the cartridge was used, the main gun was not able to be used again until after being reloaded while docked. The same issue was used to fix the problem with the torpedo reloading and thus created the single shot torpedo tubes.

The decision to use torpedoes instead of rockets or missiles was due to the fact that the ship was designed to counter bigger and slower ships. This needed higher grade explosives which torpedoes provide and also less maneuverability which torpedoes also had. If the ship were to counter fighters, it would use seeking rockets.

The Hunter uses its heavy laser cannons to drain down the targets shields and the turbo laser and torpedoes to finish them off. In a group of 3 or 5, they are capable of taking on Corvettes and frigates.

The duel medium laser cannons are mainly used defensively against fighters. This is the Hunters greatest weakness. Capital ships have a hard time targeting this ship with turbo lasers due to its maneuverability, but smaller craft like fighters are able to swarm it and destroy them fairly easily and thus, creating a need for a fighter group to play wing to it in fights.

Due to the Hunter being a flying weapon, it has virtually endless weak points. Once the shields are down, a direct hit on the engines, torpedoes (If not fired) and turbo laser (If not emptied) will start a chain reaction destroying the Hunter. Even some bleed damage through the shields is capable of destroying the ship. The bridge is fortified with the only armor on the ship and in case of ship destruction will detach itself from the ship. The bridge has no engines but the communication point is located here for retrieval.

Ok so straight of the back no turbo lasers.
Turbo lasers are restricted to capital ships.


So there is a dual laser front and another dual laser rear. Just confirming that.


All so seems like you trying to make a sith facstion ship with out the process.


My ideas swap the turbo laser a ion cannon

Make it restricted for milltary personal only like all other warships

All so you need to say how many threads you would need to get one of these.

I'm going to go ahead and archive this, for a number of reasons. The main being that it is way way waaaaaay over gunned for its size. This thing has the firepower of some light frigates at a quarter of the size. It's in the freighter/gunship size class, while turbolasers are generally reserved for capital ships, and 16 torpedo tubes is a lot no matter what kind of ship you are. On top of that it's fast and maneuverable (especially given the armament) despite also being well shielded and armored. I appreciate that you tried to balance some of that with drawbacks on its survivability and ammo capacity for the big guns, but it's all still way too much.

On top of that, this reads like Faction Tech- which only the Faction Leader can submit, generally after some development plot and usually to fit a specific role that is left unfilled. The role this craft is intended to fill is already covered by some of the Empires already available corvettes and gunships which are specifically designed for escort duty.
