DESCRIPTION​

The HVP-200 Hover Shopper is an ultralight landspeeder manufactured by Borliss Automation Concepts Incorporated, a firm better known for its repulsorlift hand trucks and industrial automation products than its vehicles, although this has not stopped the Hover Shopper from being among the company's most successful offerings.

The Hover Shopper is about as basic as repulsorcraft get, little more than a comfortable seat and a secure cargo bin attached to an under-powered drive unit and a set of simple controls. The vehicle is intended for use in urban environments, and is popular as a secondary "grocery getter" runabout for middle-class families, having an impressive 300 kilogram cargo capacity. The Hover Shopper can only reach about 60 kph, however, which is seen as just about adequate for use in cities, but too slow to be practical anywhere else; it does have excellent maneuverability, however.

Hover Shoppers, predictably, are a niche product, but it's a secure and profitable niche. They are generally only found on heavily urbanized planets, or in large settlements. Aside from their target middle-class family market, they are also used by small delivery services, such as takeout restaurants and couriers. Their slow speed and small size means that they are generally considered a nuisance in traffic, however.
