Interesting thing to offer.

Big price, but, question is, worth it?

To be honest, its an artbook, the game, and some crappy night vision goggles.

The goggles will probably be the same a kid could buy at a toy store.

Its true, think about it. In the United States Army and Marines Night Vision goggles are one of the biggest things the Military keeps it eye on; why? Because a real pair retails at $900 easy.

That will be a cool looking 'video camera' vision of nightvision when you turn it on a half decent camera I'm thinking.

I worked at Toys R Us for two years. All the toy guns and toy military stuff was kept in the back and not sold; because people complained that it "encouraged violence" or was "military propoganda for children". It always made me sigh and wonder what the **** happened to this world?

I regret buying the special edition of Fallout 3. I totally would have worn the Pip-Boy 3000.

My friends dishing out the 150 dollars for this crap.
I buy a game for a game, not a bunch of silly toys and books with it.

The books are sometimes worth it. F.E.A.R. 2 and the Baldur's Gate series come to mind. Of course, neither of them charged extra for that shit...

Oh right. A dying game from 2003 makes it totally worth it.

I wish they left vCod alone. Its the last memory of a time before Activision and IW began to whore out to the xbox users. Sigh.

The good ole days.

But CoD4 is a great game. Why miss the days when CoD was worse?

We have differing views.

The PC gaming community generally sees IW and Activision as crap for focusing on money whoring themselves to xbox users when the pc community has also been loyal to them.

Now adays they make the game for the xbox because they can make more money out of it with a higher price, downloadable content, etc and then simply port it to the PC. Porting the xbox version to the pc provides a generally crap game where anyone could be good, because its so much easier.

vCod was a game that required skill and was a damned good game for its time. Five years later, yeah its not as good as compared to other games. Hence why I said let it remain as a memory for us pc users who don't really wish to remain loyal with IW and buy their newer games. But what do they do? Offer it to the xbox users so they can pay extra money to buy their stuff and play it.

You're right, but a lot of us pc gamers don't like it. Since their games have become big steaming piles of s*** on the pc.

Pft. At least we get to mod, custom map. create skins, etc for free.

Saying that IW makes the game for a console specifically is ridiculous. first off I am gonna say that on the original Xbox we had the first Call of Duty... so we had it at the same time. It would also be to make a game for one console if you were going to dedicate the entirety of the gmae to it, you would be better of just making it console specific. I am thrown by your use of only Xbox though. Call of Duty has been on PS3 too so you should change your complaint to consoles in general. Back to your original argument though. Since we had CoD at relatively the same time IW didn't change it just to appeal to us, the original CoD was great and that is why they brought subsequent titles to the console platform.

Instead IW changed CoD due to the evolution and new mechanics other games were bringing in. Regenerative health, faster and more cinematic gameplay, and accessibility. They weren't targeting console audiences at all. They were changing the game to compete with the other titles that were incorporating these developements... and it seems like these changes were popularly recieved seeing as CoD is now one of the best selling titles out there.

Though I still don't see how it takes more skill to play the original. Aim and cover are still a precedent. All that I can recall changing is we are in the modern day, health regenerates, bullets penetrate some surfaces, you can sprint, and melee now kills in one blow. I've gone back to previous CoD titles and the basis for the gameplay is the same. Would you care to elaborate?

Pft. At least we get to mod, custom map. create skins, etc for free.

EDIT: Which I say will always make PC gaming better than consoles. I am sure some modder feels the same as you do and has tweaked either Cod 4 or the original to better suit those like you.

Righto. I meant to say console, but the topic was mainly on xbox at the moment. Anyways, I never heard of vCod being on the xbox, probably because it was PC orientated game and ported over to the xbox. Making it not very enjoyable.

Anyways, I was talking about how vCod is simply being ported from the Xbox/PS3 these days to the PC, making it a much crappier game. This dumbs down a lot of elements, because PC has a lot more control because of the mouse and keyboard. Games are increasingly easier on a console, because its made so its easier for you aim, hit, kill.

Back in the days of vCod, on the PC it took much more skill to be good. Playing on CoD4, 5, etc its just become pure crap. Its spray/pray like crazy and lot of the skill has been ripped out of the game.

Sum: It's a console orientated game, because of money. Making it a poorer game for loyal PC fans of CoD. And why I won't be buying anymore of them.

Like I had said, the first CoD for the Xbox was good. True it was a port. Just because you port a game from PC to Xbox does not make it bad. Though the game isn't being ported today. To be ported it has to be made for one system and then brought over to the other at a later date. As far as I know all the versions are released and developed at the same time. Once again though it is more fo a gameplay change and not the consoles fault. In the first two CoDs I noticed it took more skill because the WWII firearms were able to engage at longer ranges so most engagements required careful aim and it was much safer to stay afar. The movement into modern day shows more close combat and prolific use fo autmatic weaponry that can maintain accuracy and longer ranges. All games have their spray and prayers. I will concede that CoD 4 can be a bitch when that's all people seem to do. The problems you are experiencing on the PC is the game simply changing. Not changing for console users.

You hit the nail on the head with that last sentence. The PC version has undoubtedly been dumbed down since the spotlight went to the console and in a lot of peoples opinion, including my own, worsened. The sad thing is: Call of Duty is dying. At least PC wise. Dropping the CoD out of its name and leaving the franchise in the hands of Treyarch?

At least, that's how I feel. Its already dead for me as I won't be buying this new Modern Warfare games nor the Treyarch games they make so they can get games done 1-2 years apart to make more money.

Activision Blizzard has a developement cycle for CoD. IW makes a game that you play while Treyarch makes a game that you play while IW makes a game. Modern Warfare 2 has stuck the Call of Duty tag back on as to not confuse idiot customers and retailers.
