Vergil looked down at the message displayed on the datapad. He’d been assigned to do some reconnaissance of some old ruins right smack in the middle of the Imperium territories. Vergil wasn’t sure what the thought process was for sending two padawan’s there was, but it was to be a rapid deployment. The planet that was to be investigated was called Dathomir, which historically been home to many different sects of force sensitive’s. Vergil had been a little concerned when reading over the names of some of the prominent groups as they appeared to be dark side practitioners. It would be no doubt that any ruins they came across would be powerful in the dark side.
Perhaps this would be a test towards reaching Knighthood, Vergil mused, and this seemed like a deliberate assignment to a dark place to test his resolve. It would certainly prove to be interesting regardless. Passing through Imperial space would prove excitement enough for the jedi.
Vergil arrived to the assigned hangar. The pair was to be assigned a nondescript ship in order to travel around without attracting the wrong attention. As it was, Vergil was wearing one of the normal sets of clothes that he possessed. The other two pairs that he’d received were haphazardly thrown in the duffel he was carrying. Vergil unconsciously felt for his lightsaber at its normal spot, which was hidden away in a secret pocket with his durasteel armor. The duffel wouldn’t pass a normal security sweep, but Vergil planned to hide the contraband on the ship until they’d arrived to Dathomir.
Vergil waited by the landing ramp of the small freighter that they’d been given. It was a YV-929 or something close to a beat-up version of one. Vergil supposed that it would be usable, but an extended trip probably be boring to the extreme in this crate. He hoped that this other Padawan, Sil, would be a good conversational partner. Perhaps, if he was lucky, there would be space onboard to practice during their trip. But he’d tour the ship soon enough, for now he would wait for Sil to arrive.
