DESCRIPTION
Perhaps one of the nastier droids to come out of Imperial-Controlled Hutt Space, the IG-00 was the end result of Project Onset Darkness, the baby of a now-deceased Sith Master. She wanted an assassin droid that would be able to learn from each mission to increase overall effectiveness. An initial run of six prototypes were produced at great cost. It had to be able to pass inspection as a protocol droid, match or even exceed the strength and agility of a human (at least in short durations), be durable against physical damage from close combat, and be able to think critically when presented with a series of obstacles and mission constraints.

Hutt Space offered the perfect proving ground. The prototypes were sent on assassination missions that targeted random civilians, criminals, and eventually crime bosses. The prototypes' abilities and performance were then evaluated after each mission to ensure progress was being made. Satisfied with the initial run, dozens more were ordered before the steep financial costs forced the Master to end the Project. The droids remain, though relatively few in number. As a result, the loss or destruction of an IG-00 can result in shame and punishment for the Sith that deployed it.

Due to their high cost of maintenance, and their irreplaceable nature, IG-00 droids are used sparingly and may often have a Sith team standing by just in case. When sent into the field, their combat prowess is undeniable. However, they have been described as "having a callous disregard for, and perhaps even an enjoyment of, collateral damage." Whether this is a quirk of their independent programming, or a side-effect of the assassination programming is hard to say. Exceedingly careful mission parameters have to be given to avoid collateral damage completely as the IG-00 line has a curious habit of using "mission-critical reasons" to circumvent poorly-crafted parameters. A number of these droids have been captured by the Old Empire and re-purposed for their uses, while a number of others have simply gone missing.

LEGALITY
Assassin droids are illegal across the galaxy. While they may have "legitimate" use in the Empire, they are an easy reason to execute anyone caught with them under suspicious circumstances.

INTENT
To create a useful, if destructive, tool for the Sith or anyone lucky enough to get their hands on one. There are no true assassin droids in the tech boards, save for combat droids and they tend to stick out like a sore thumb. Hutt Space is where the least morality can be found, and the development of this droid is an excellent example. It can be used as a formidable weapon with some deniability in the interconflict within the Sith, against Mandalorians, or Jedi should they ever be discovered.

ADVANCED TECH
YES. These droids are very rare and their use is restricted from day-to-day activities. They will take a 3-thread tech plot to obtain, one of which must be Open/PvP. Further, permission may be needed from faction leadership to bring one on a mission.
