Royal Imperial Ultra Dragoons
We Are the Bravest, We are the Boldest
The First and Last line of Defense
Explosions are our lullabies, Death is our slumber
We Will never Forgive, We will never forget
To the end we shall fight. Know we are coming
Expect us, For we will be there
Hallowed Are the Imperials
There are none Better
Overview:
Of all the retinues of the Imperial Knights, the Ultra Dragoons are by far one of the most dangerous, unrestrained, well equipped, and most extreme of the bunch. As an entity they are primarily heavy hitters. The ones called upon when something needs doing. When something needs to cease Existing. And when no one else is willing to take up the challenge. One should not merely assume the Dragoons are merely loud and obnoxious soldiers who don't seem to understand the meaning of subtlety and while they may haul a lot of hardware they take pride in themselves and what they do. Equipped both for small scale special operations as well as full scale assaults they spare no expense in keeping themselves as effective, efficient, and in good care as possible, maintaining a sizeable support staff consisting of medics, engineers, and technicians, recruited from both civilian sources and within the Imperial Knights themselves who are tasked with the responsibility of keeping their technology up to date and as well maintained with the efficiency only a small organization can achieve.
Like most, the Dragoons' maintain their own collective public identity for the purpose of both remaining hidden and securing funds to keep both themselves afloat and supplementing the rest of the Imperial Knights where possible. Primarily they find themselves at home posing as military contractors and a private security company dealing in both guards and systems all the while using their increasing influence to, rather unscrupulously, force out competitors and secure contracts on their own time, all the while passing on whatever information they may become privy to the less than honourable members with the Knights to do with as they please, often more or less screwing over various people without them even realising it and all within the relative safety of Alliance space.

Recruitment:
Comprised primarily of non-force sensitives the Imperial Dragoons Have perhaps some of the highest standards of physical fitness and mental capability, even compared alongside the proper militaries and special forces groups of the galaxy their training can be considered among the most brutal and harsh. Inside few exceptions are made, the same is expected of every person within irregardless of race or gender. The only ones to even remotely get a free pass are those who work support and get moderately relaxed requirements and those with skill sets and abilities too important to pass over. The basic physical fitness requires for entry are already quite high, requiring candidates to be physically strong, fast on their feet, and have the stamina to keep it up for long duration's. The physical exam is largely the part of the recruitment process that is responsible for the majority of potential recruits to drop out. Failure though isn't the end, often those who show promise or are close to the requirements are often worked with directly to get them where they need to be.
The second portion of the recruitment process is one much more relaxed than the first. Though just as important. The second stage focuses primarily on the intelligence and mentality of the recruits themselves. They are given extensive background and psychological checks, those who are morally incompatible or are mentally unstable are quickly thrown out. Further they are screened rigorously by force users to further cull out those who would be unwanted or unwelcome within. Finally prospective recruits are gauged mentally for intelligence and aptitude. While one doesn't need to necessarily be overly intelligent they need to possess mental skills of an acceptable level, and the higher the overall better recruits will look.
The third portion of the test is the final part recruits go on which is a total assessment of everything a recruit is capable of. With a bit of training. A Small bit of supplies and perhaps a random bit of gear. A GPS transmitter, A password, and a health monitor. Prospective recruits are ditched onto the surface of a random planet and expected to survive for a time period of one to two weeks. All the while dealing with wild life and squads of man hunters who are already educated on the terrain and attempting to track your every move. These planets can range in all sorts of environments from unforgiving deserts to deathly jungles and even places that hold villages and towns. Sometimes in groups or by yourself. Sometimes multiple prospects are dropped in random locations on a single planet each with respective man hunter groups tracking them, all the while being watched from above by high altitude drones almost undetectable through normal means, all the while tracking your every move and action. In the end you either fail, fail and try again on another planet, or go past the time limit to succeed and have the manhunters thus come in to pick you up. All of this followed by lengthy and grueling interrogation sessions to see if you give the password. However. Most support staff need not undergo this part.
If all goes well a Recruit will ultimately succeed and be inducted as a full dragoon and move on to much more advanced training within the retinue. While a lot of training and screening may seem unnecessary given the Imperial Knights position it has largely more to do with where they draw recruits rather than the quality of them. The high dropout rate has lead to them using their public mercenary identity and connections to seek out as well as attract individuals to them. Mostly rejects who wish discharged from the military, disallowed to join due to prior convictions, engineers, technicians, and Medical personnel who'd been forced out of a job.

Internal Structure:
Internally, though everyone holds rank within the Imperial Knights, The Dragoon's operate primarily on a military style command structure where actual rank within the Imperial Knights itself is treated as an almost negligible factor that only matters when it comes down to interactions between Dragoons and Individual Knights from other retinues, and those seated within high command positions above the Justicar In charge of the retinue in question. Though it may seem unnecessary to some extent the primary use of a separate command structure is to draw distinct lines of command and seccession for usage in deployment for the sake of managing the retinue better. As far as exact structure goes, It's not too different from a normal military entity. Soldiers are organised into squads, subsequently organised into platoons, and then companies, potentially higher should the organization grow enough. Technicians and Support staff though not usually deployed anywhere also hold some form of rank within the organization. Mostly to allow them to do their jobs as needed.
