The wall of bone was covered in an invisible barrier, courtesy of the Dark Side. The sight looked macabre, yet in effect it made a perfectly square battlefield for the duelists. The two Champions, Zazai and Ren, would be put to the test against each other in a fight using whatever they had on them and what skills they possessed. Even now the Empress was watching, so they had better perform well. It didn't seem like the Darkness wanted them to take an lives, yet it wasn't adverse to seeing brutality, either. It waited hungrily for the fun to begin.

((OOC: This fight will be PVP, but death disabled. Serious injury and the like, however, ARE enabled. The fight ends when one opponent forfeits or is knocked out. Have fun!)

Ren clung to the residual Dark Side within himself that he had built up. So the Force had decided that they were to truly fight after all? So be it, he thought, for he was no weakling, and if this other Sith were to underestimate him it would be his end. But Ren was not arrogant enough to believe that his opponent was any kind of pushover either. He would have to play to his strengths. Kneeling down on the ground, Ren reached out and drew the darkness within himself, channelling his power and that of the unnatural void that resided within this place. He could feel it well up within himself, power growing until eventually, Ren felt that it was time. With a quick and sudden outstretching of his hands, a literal well of darkness rose up from within himself. Shadow reached out to hopefully engulf the entire room in pitch black darkness, blinding his opponent if this was successful. But Ren would suffer no such hindrance, for even though his eyes would not be able to see, this power was his own and he could feel any living things within it, any hair of movement. He would turn this battlefield into his playground.

Assuming the veil of shadow successfully fell across the arena, Ren would slowly rise and use the remaining built up power to become the monster his Master strove so hard to create. He fed on his own agony and suffering and would move through the shadows like some ethereal nightmare, his metallic laugh filling the void as if from all directions. He would attempt to feel the life force within the other Sith and lash out at it, attempting to draw it away from his opponent, aiming to tend to his own wounds while creating an even greater advantage for himself. Ren would swiftly move in quick circles, reaching out from different points in the darkness to feed on his opponent, hoping to create a disorienting effect. Ren would not fall here.

The other Sith had played all of his cards, shown his hand and yet Zazai stood the victor of the first round.

Now the room urged them to battle, and Zazai surrendered himself to the darkness of this place. You think a snake such as this would know better than look away for an enemy, especially one he had just attacked.

As soon as he kneeled, Zazai attacked. With a flick of his wrist, the Force would slam the man face forward, breaking any hope of concentration and sending him the ground face first hard. With his lightsaber in a defensive position about 15 feet away, he immediately reached a hand out seeking to wrap the Force around the man's neck, constricting and forcing the life from him while holding him in place face down, furthering the man's difficulty to muster any type of use of the Force.

"Yield." he growled.

The man's face was slammed hard into the ground, the ancient stone cracking slightly from the force of the blow. His helmet the only thing saving him from his face from being utterly shattered.

Hate for this snake coursed through his blood, setting afire as the Force seized the man's throat. In his dazed condition, he offered no resistance but Zazai could feel the terror build and then turn to hopelessness as the consciousness was squeezed from his mind.

Zazai didn't let up. Hatred continued to bubble forth. The darkness in the room seemed to revel in the pain around him until it suddenly stopped him. His anger was diminished, robbing him of that glorious power, that thrill.

As Ren's body slumped to the floor, unconscious, Zazai disengaged his lightsaber, returning it to his belt.

"Pathetic" he growled

The second challenge was his.

As the loser fell to the ground, the air seemed to ripple around the victorious Champion. The ground burst forth with tendrils of pure darkness, wrapping around the victor until he was taken from sight, though there were no one else around to see him at this point anyway. It was time for the last leg of the Gauntlet, something that the surviving contestants would need to work together in order to defeat. Or not, it would be their choice. Perhaps they would think themselves powerful enough on their own to face the creature they were on their way towards, an echo of a confrontation that had shaken the very core of the world it had happened on. Regardless, the Empress was still watching. She had yet to decide on the winners yet.

((OOC: The last thread of the Gauntlet will take the winners from each fight to put them against one final foe. I'll have that thread up soon.))
