Ask Yavin IV In the Wake of Saturday

Bored was a pretty common word in Maura's vernacular. "I'm bored!" and "This is boring..." were phrases her teachers knew all too well, yet they never did much to appease her boredom. The girl didn't understand that they had a job to do, and one kid's lack of interest wouldn't make them change the directory of their lesson. So, during the week, Maura suffered through her classes and eagerly awaited the days when she had none to attend.

Unfortunately, and even though she had none on this particular day, the little rainbow-haired kid was relentlessly bored.

"UggGGHH!" She flipped over, rolling off of her bed and landing flat on the ground a foot below. Maura slowly sat up, glaring at the beige walls she had covered in tapped-up doodles. She sat like that for a few minutes, then groaned again and flopped back down. The only thing she had to do was homework, and there was no way she was going to do homework when she was this bored.

Maura eventually made her way out into the hallway, the laces of her untied shoes dragging along on the floor as she searched for something to do or someone to bother. Luckily for her, though maybe not so luckily for the person, her black eyes caught sight of a familiar face. Or rather, familiar, stark white hair.

"RIVER!"

River always looked forward to the weekends. She was always so busy during the week with so many things that there was never enough time to just hangout and chill. This morning, River had decided to go for a run. Nothing too crazy, just a couple miles, but it always made her feel good after she was done. A solid way to start any day, even a lazy Saturday. As such, she was wearing just a simple exercise outfit, though she always liked how tanktops let her show off her tattoos.

As she was heading back to her dorm after her run, Riv's eye was caught by something posted on one of the bulletin boards. She had stopped to read it, earbuds still in and playing a song just a little too loud.

And yet, even over the blaring vocals and kickass drums, River still heard a familiar voice calling her name. Pulling out her headphones, she turned to face Maura, a smile already spreading across her face from ear to ear.

Hey Maura! She said with a wave, walking up to the kid holding out her hand for a fist bump. You know, we should really come up with some kind of dope handshake together. Make all the other kids jealous of how cool we are.

Reaching into her bag, River would pull out a breakfast bar and open it, offering up half to Maura before digging into it herself. Strawberry! She said through a mouthful. What you up to today? Got any fun plans on your day off?

"Bsssssh!" She made an explosion sound after their fists bumped off one another and briefly outstretched her fingers to mimic one too. Her eyes widened at the suggestion of a secret handshake, and she immediately voiced a suggestion. "Yeah! With three fists bumps! And wavy fingers!" She might've gone on with more, but the offering of food cut her short. Maura never declined food, so she happily accepted the other half.

"I don hweve annwqeing to bobwause I'mbered andedn't wanna dro hofdsdork!" The kid swallowed hard, then a thoughtful look crossed over her features. Maybe she should try to hangout with River?

"What about you? Are you doing anything cool?" Maybe if she was, then Maura could too! She thought River was really cool because she didn't talk to her like a baby. "ALSO! Do you like bugs? Cause I saw this really cool bug the other day and I accidentally squished it, but I don't know what kind of bug it was because it was too squished for me to tell."
