It was known that the Sith Order couldn't be overly discerning with who they worked these days. Without the backup of the Imperial Government and its billions-strong forces, they had to actually use their heads for once. Sometimes this meant sneaking about, sometimes this meant calling on outside assets. Nakoa would take work from anyone; Sith, Imperial, Jedi, whoever. So long as a deal was made, or in other words, he benefited from the exchange, they really didn't care. Let the galaxy fight itself and he'd profit.

This particular instance was notable for the potential profit to both sides. A location a member of the Sith Order wanted into took magic to access, and nearly all of their arcanists had fled when the Empire fragmented. Their deal was simple. Nakoa wanted a particular item only useful to arcanists, and copies of any texts. The rest was subject to negotiation, save for a majority gain of material wealth toward the client.

And that was beyond the matter of the Mysteries of Upekzar, a requirement to even reach the location at all. Nakoa suspected this would be a long excursion. Nonetheless, the scholar in him was extremely interested in the long-forgotten world and its ancient rites.

His ship sat idle on one of the first of the Circle of Visions, a chain of volcanic islands on the world. An extremely large four-eyed fish, cleaned out and descaled for eating, was roasting over a medium-sized fire. He waited for his contact to arrive. No one else should be there in the first place. The planet was unsettled in the modern day.

Ambrosia, though she was interested in furthering her understanding of the mysteries of the Dark Side, was not exactly sure where to start. Her time with the Sith as they had been before was brief; most of her 'education' that wasn't spent learning to use the Force or fight was spent learning basic skills, like reading and math. That meant that in terms of Sith knowledge, she was... lacking. She barely knew their history, and it was only so easy to learn more when she lacked access to former archives.

So, that's where Nakoa came in. He knew where shit was, and Ambrosia didn't.

The woman landed her ship not far off and slowly made her way to the contact point. She spotted the fire before she saw him, and when she approached, she made sure to enter within the man's range of sight even if her footsteps were quiet as a mouse.

"Singh?" she called out, her voice soft and fitting for her doll-like features. The look on her face was anything but, though; her pale violet eyes were unblinking and met Nakoa's without caution.

Amber-gold eyes rose to meet the shape that entered their range slightly before they stepped through the brush, not detecting sound but the small movements of the woman's surroundings a moment before she appeared. Those same eyes met her violet gaze, expression and lack of overt intensity granting a lackadaisical air, though behind them was the hint of something further. It would pass after a brief examination.

"Singh I am," the man replied with a gesture toward the other side of the fire where the fish was roasting. Oceanic fat dripped steadily on the coals below and perfumed the air around them with its rich aroma. "Best to eat before continuing." He didn't elaborate on that statement, but rather pulled a bundle of herbs from a bowl on the ground and began to crush them for the meal.

"Your ship wasn't followed?"

Ambrosia regarded the roasting fish with what was clearly an attempt to disguise her hesitation. Though the smell was certainly nice, she had her reservations and they had nothing to do with Nakoa himself and everything to do with the woman's distaste for "survival" foods. Would the guts and innards not still be present? How... well, she supposed she didn't have much choice.

"No," she answered as she joined the man at the fire. She could not be one hundred percent certain of course, but she was doubtful anyone would have followed her ship all the way out here. Ambrosia's record was almost entirely clean, after all. "What sort of plants are those?" she asked, curious as to what he was planning on doing with them. Was he going to eat them? Were they herbs? Ambrosia's knowledge of cooking was terribly low, and it was something she'd not taken the time to learn in her years of freedom.

Luckily for Ambrosia, the fish's guts had been removed and thrown back into the sea. Nakoa simply nodded at the woman's reply and tended the fire and their meal. He didn't look up at her question, although he did eventually answer. Two long, slender fingers delicately picked up a crushed leaf. It was deeply ribbed with several curling protrusions. "Medicinal. Edible. This is a local plant similar to common mint. Good for stress." He named the others without elaboration as he ground them down, then began to gently pat them on the roasting fish's surface.

Only another minute would pass before he removed the skewered fish and de-scaled fish to a wooden board and cut from it what was best described as a fish rib steak. He passed it to Ambrosia.

"What is a Sith?" he asked her non-sequitur. Nakoa asked every Sith he found the same question.

Well, that was a straightforward answer. Ambrosia just accepted it as he said, feeling that there was no reason to not believe him. She sat down on a rock or log - whatever was nearby and suitable as a seat - and began to soak in the warmth of the fire while she waited for the food to be finished. She accepted it from Nakoa and said, "Thank you." She would have been lying if she said she had expected to be fed when she arrived. It was... different, but not unwelcomed.

"What is a Sith?" What a broad, open-ended question, and yet it had been something on Ambrosia's mind ever since the splitting of the Sith from the Empire. She had yet to come up with a definite answer that satisfied her. She doubted she would be able to give Nakoa one either.

"I'm not sure," she answered after several long moments of silence. "But I do not believe that it is what I once thought it to be." Her old instructors were Sith. They were the very embodiment of Sith to her. But when the Empire came with their decrees and threats, they'd surrender their lightsabers and picked peace over conflict. They were no Sith in her eyes after that. They had never been.

"You often work with Sith, correct?" she asked. "How would you answer your own question?"

A sly, bemused little smirk slid over the Wrean's face. "Short version? A miserable pile of secrets" was his answer in a tone that suggested humor. Nakoa didn't expand on that and didn't plan to unless she asked in the hopes she'd question it herself. That was the most fun part of philosophy, the back and forth.

He ate quickly in the meantime, drinking only water. The sun steadily set somewhere behind them, off the coast. Without any preamble whatsoever he'd gesture vaguely toward the nearest mountain. "We'll be climbing halfway up that, then entering a system of caves. They aren't mapped." Any original information beyond the vaguest stuff for what was explicitly inside had been lost a long, long time ago.

"Hope you like adventure."

Ambrosia regarded Nakoa with a certain look in her eye as he smirked and gave her the answer to his own question. But she said nothing as she ate in silence with him.

Though the Arkanian wasn't happy to see they'd be climbing a mountain, she had to admit that it seemed less daunting now than it would have a few months ago. Unmapped caves seemed dangerous as well. Neither of these things deterred her from continuing with Nakoa.

"Mm." She started after him, pushing past tropical brush and grasses as they found their way onto a game trail. She was careful not to touch anything wet or sticky looking, and Nakoa would probably notice her reluctance to casually brush up against even the most innocent looking of plants. Try as she might, Ambrosia didn't feel like she would ever get used to romping about in the dirty wild.

"These caves - are they manmade?"

Nakoa didn't say anything, but he seemed to have a sense of what was dangerous and what wasn't. Assuming Ambrosia would follow in his footsteps he strode around a beautiful-looking plant growing around a large flower with petals that shone like oil slick, dripping with slime. Conversely, he walked right through a batch of vines covered in sky-blue flowers without regard.

"No," he replied. Several seconds passed before he remembered to elaborate on that information. "Natural formations. Places strong in the Force." Another pause. "Also beetles." Lots of the old records had spoken about beetles, although Nakoa wasn't entirely sure of their significance. Must be important if they kept mentioning them, though.

A good amount of trudging eventually lead them to the base of the mountain. Nakoa lead Ambrosia up a winding trail, clearly well-worn but since overgrown and only used by wild game for centuries at least. He pointed up the path. "This should take us to a cliff face to scale," he informed her.

Ambrosia looked up at the path, then further up toward the cliff face up ahead. Her expression didn't really change, but internally she was dreading what was ahead. 'Scale a cliff face?' Again? Holding back a sigh, Ambrosia nodded and trudged forward, pushing aside more brush as they walked from forest to rocky cliffside.

"Beetles are the ones with shiny wings, right?" The question was a bit out of the blue, but it had just popped into mind and she felt like asking. If she was imagining the right critters, they were small little creepy crawlies. Gross, but shouldn't be a huge issue. She could get over that.

They arrived at the cliff face not long after, and Ambrosia looked up. Thick, woody vines crawled along the surface and disappeared into a recess in the stone several meters up. The cave, she assumed.

"That's it?" she asked, referring to the recess above.

It took the Wrean a few moments to process what Ambrosia asked. Not so much that she didn't know what beetles were, but how to answer the actual question. Once he got to it, the answer was, "Yes. And wing casings." He figured he'd be specific since lots of bugs had shiny wings.

At the cliff face, he looked up the vine-covered stone to the recess beyond. "It is." Amber-gold eyes turned to look at the young woman directly. Ambrosia did not look like someone who climbed cliffs much. Or stairs. Very thin, she was. Nakoa looked at the cliff face again. Sheer stone, but lots of vines and handholds. Short climb. He looked at Ambrosia again.

"Will you need help?" he asked her. Nakoa felt he could handle her weight going up if she did.
