DESCRIPTION​

The IX-N Antipode is a class of point-defense interceptor manufactured by Barancar Action Systems of the planet Barancar. Essentially a stiletto-shaped fuselage sitting between two massive engines, the Antipode is lightly built and optimized primarily for speed and maneuverability, at the expense of armament (weapons consist of a single under-slung dual laser cannon), durability and range.
Originally developed to provide independent system defense forces with a high-performance and cost-effective point-defense interceptor. Although lacking heavier armaments such as concussion missiles, it is effective at nekfighting with enemy fighters and can be extremely dangerous in numbers. Their high speed and nimble flying is mitigated by their relatively short operating range, requiring them to stay fairly close to their base or carrier.
The type is often employed by regional defensive navies and aerospace defense forces on planets in the Outer and Mid Rim.
