Biography

The Early Years

"Woe upon he who obstructs the gaze of a Kharalambos." Words etched deeply into the minds and hearts of all who bear the name. And words perhaps personified by none more so than Izas, second son of the family's current patriarch; Zenon.

As a child Izas was fairly typical for a boy of his age, scrappy and boisterous. Though as with most young ones, he could be prone to cruelty and a lack of compassion. However, proving himself to be highly knowledgeable and charismatic, many of Izas' peers gravitated towards him as a leader and a friend.

Enamoured with the history of ancient cultures and great martial leaders, even as a boy, Izas became obsessed with the cultivation his own brotherhood. Organizing rigid rankings and infrastructure based on those from his books, he reveled in the delegation of responsibilities and the devising of rituals and initiations. A clever little dictator, to many his word became law.

Somewhat elitist in his method, Izas would quietly scrutinize those beyond his inner circle. He would often subject them to trials and tests in order for them to prove their worth to him; he was quick to dismiss those who failed, often humiliating them for doing so. Naturally, this led some to resent him. Though quietly, for fear of reprimand or isolation. The same was true of his rivals, whose own ventures Izas rarely allowed to persist. But eventually, as with all things, Izas' reign was cut short by the cruel hand of time itself.

On the cusp of adolescence, at the age of twelve, Izas and others his age were to be whisked across all corners of the planet in order to continue their education. Izas and his friends, all high achievers, were expected to be sent to the planetary capital - The Grand Ziggurat of Rasianthes. There they were all to be educated at the planets most prestigious academy, under the watchful eye of the Wise Imperator himself. The Force however, it seemed, had other plans for the young Izas. For it was that day that The Bright Order came knocking.

The Bright Order

Saiyafa's armed forces are primarily overseen by a government faction named "The Bright Order". Though volunteers may apply, the vast majority of the Order's recruits are selected at the point of educational transfer. An appeal may be placed in the case of most, however Izas and those few like him were an exception. Those with a direct connection to the Force.

The realization of Izas' latent potential came as a revelation to both he and his family, though there was little time to discuss the matter. For no sooner had he discovered the result of his selection, much to the horror of his mother especially, the Bright Order had arrived to prepare him for transfer to their flagship - The Radiance.

From the moment he set foot aboard the dreadnought's deck, Izas found himself forcibly humbled by the brutal methods of his new superiors. The Bright Order was already infamous for their harsh regimen, but the conditioning Force Sensitives underwent was both physically and psychologically extreme.

There was no place for lack of control within the Bright Order, who abhorred succumbing to corruption. Considering it weak and pathetic. To fall prey to the corruption of the dark could even be grounds for exile, not only from the Order but from Saiyafi space entirely; in the most grave of cases, execution could even be a consideration.

The first three years of training brought Izas dangerously close to the darkness. Barely treated as human, he and the others like him were shipped to a remote jungle world. They were accompanied by a number of older trainees, undergoing the last phases of their own tutelage, who were charged with the survival of the young learners.

The first year of exposure was spent learning the tools necessary to thrive in their environment. Hunting for food, slaying for survival, high altitude runs, and spars to exhaustion. Sleep was disallowed in lieu of meditation, and those who drifted away would be beaten and bloodied by their ever-vigilant guardians. Not that true sleep would have provided solace anyway. The guardians were adamant that corrupted souls stalked them from the shadows of the canopy, waiting for the young ones to crack so that they may become vessels for the dark side.

During this time, Izas considered his gift a curse. He watched as those around him were wracked by paranoia and severe stress. Some broke early, and most were forced to continue. Though those who passed a certain point would disappear overnight and naturally no explanation was given. Instead it was left to those remaining to fill in the blanks. Izas initially found himself plotting to kill his harsher guardians during meditation, convinced that they had been culling the group. At times his pangs of murderous thought even turned to weaker students, when their punishments were spread to the collective.

Time passed slowly, though eventually a second year passed and thirty were dwindled down to just ten. At this stage Izas and his remaining comrades were well within the swing of their daily routine. The runs had grown easier, and their form had sharpened. Desensitized to the concept of death, they ambushed prey and broke it down without batting an eye. Although beatings were rare now, when they occurred no tears were shed.

That was when the groups guardians disappeared. As with the other children who had seemingly failed, one moment they were there and the next they were gone. Izas and his comrades were alone. Expecting it was some sort of test, most were fairly unfazed during the first week or two. Though once a month had passed, it became abundantly clear that the guardians were not returning any time soon.

For a while, the group was in disarray. Although they had been provided the skills they needed to survive, the guardians focused more on developing individuals rather than a team. Now, without them holding things together, the cracks within the group began to widen. For Izas, now was the time for him to come to the fore.

The boy noticed change in himself as the weeks went by. Having been subject to tactics not unlike his own for the past two years, he reflected on where he had gone wrong in the past. Instead he chose to guide rather than enforce; he didn't declare his way as the only one, but as an option worth considering. Rather than separating the weak from the strong, he found himself propping up those who struggled. He was more receptive to his comrades and, having shared their hardships, more empathetic to their individual strife.

Using these new found insights to his advantage, he gradually ushered the group into coalescence. Even the most stubborn among them, who had forged out alone, eventually returned in service to a single goal. Thrive. And after another year in the wilderness, lo and behold, a drop-ship arrived to take them back aboard the Radiance.

Service and Departure

Fortunately a months respite was given to those who survived the three year excursion, though a good majority of it was . Though now at 15 years of age, Izas and the rest of his Force-sensitive comrades were quickly integrated into wider military drills, training, and further indoctrination.

The Bright Order incorporated Force-users into their ranks as Special Forces, with an emphasis on spec ops, squad command, and naval command. Intended to be employed as a trump card across a variety of situations, they worked closely with all aspects of the Order's branches. Izas especially took to covert and special operations, proving himself to be brutally efficient tactician and a strong lightsaber duelist. Strengths that he utilized against a number of incursions into Saiyafi space - once he'd reached the age of 18 and begun his service.

Now 23, Izas had proven himself to be an exemplary asset within The Bright Order. His mandatory minimum had come to its end, and he was forced to consider whether or not he would continue on. Having fought and bled for his home, the ambitious Izas had turned his gaze outside of the Zarkaris system and toward the plight of the Jedi, whom he had worked with in passing on a small number of collaborative operations.

Of the mind that working with the Jedi to eradicate the Exiles might serve to protect his home from the corrupted in the long run, he has reached out to one of their many sects with the hopes of leaving Zarkari space and joining their ranks.

Personality

Izas is perhaps best defined as "Pragmatic". Quietly ambitious since he was a boy, he always seems to be striving for higher heights or working towards some personal goal or another. A key aspect of his personality, this has fostered a rather cutthroat attitude in regards to achieving certain goals. No matter how large or small. This hunger likely stems from the exploits of the heroes he used to read about as a child, and perhaps somewhat of a fear of becoming forgotten and lost to time.

Having spent half of his life under the tutelage of the Bright Order, it is natural that Izas' mindset has been steeled against the pressures of being within an elite military organization; he has no qualms about eliminating a threat to himself or his allies, and the death of an enemy rarely has carries any emotional weight. This can lead to the impression that he lacks empathy, but in fact he tends to bond strongly with those he cares about.

Although he has dispelled the tyrannical tendencies that he displayed during his early development, Izas still maintains a certain knack for rallying people around him and thrives in positions of leadership. He enjoys talking strategy and planning ahead, then watching his well oiled machine function. He also manages to glean great pleasure in overcoming obstacles that would scupper his plans, and is quick to see them dealt with.

Izas was taught to view dark side corruption as weak and pathetic. That those who succumbed to it were not unlike children, who struggled to control their emotions, and that they were to be pitied and shamed rather than something to be afraid of. He considers them undeserving of their connection to the Force, parasites, and wastes of the gift.

Notable Skills & Abilities

Bright Order Training: Izas played an important role as a Force Sensitive within The Bright Order, where those touched by the cosmic energy serve as a special forces regiment. As such he has undergone intense training, primarily specializing around covert operations, special operations, and the skills necessary for those roles. He is familiar with a great deal of military protocol and weaponry. Piloting skill was also essential during his time in service, with squadron fighting and interception as a focus. Izas also has experience in naval command, flight squadron command, infantry & marine command, and rudimentary understanding of fleet command.

Talent for Augmentation: Izas' command over the Force is mostly centered around facilitating his lightsaber prowess and physical action. His strength lies in intrinsic usages of Force augmentation, and using this ability to vastly increase his physical capability on a whim. This talent makes him extremely dangerous in direct combat, though this has left his outward projections of the Force somewhat lacking. For Izas, it would be easier in most cases for him to just lift an object himself rather than attempt to do so telekinetically. Instead he favours more acute and dexterous applications of skills such as telekinesis, weaving them in amongst combat or other movements, as opposed to impressive displays of large manipulation or energy projections.

Physical Conditioning: Izas' was conditioned from a young age to will his way through physical pain, in what would be considered by most to be a highly inhumane practice. This allows him to take a larger degree of punishment than most, especially taking his Force usage into consideration as well. However, the skill of ignoring pain does not mean he has the ability to circumvent damage. Without careful management of his condition, it wouldn't be out of the bounds of possibility for Izas to put himself in a horrendous state after a bout.

Imposing Physicality: Tall, slender, and wide-shouldered, with a strongly defined musculature, years of intense conditioning and training have shaped and refined Izas' powerful physique. Combined with his powerful cardiovascular system and resilient bone structure, he has been afforded tremendous speed, strength and durability. This facilitates his success as a nigh relentless athlete and combatant, practically constructed for the art of warfare.

Skilled Acrobat: Though he prefers a more straight forward and efficient style when it comes to combat, Izas is an experienced gymnast. Capable of all manner of flips, rolls, aerial readjustments, and other feats of agility, he has no issue incorporating these into his style as is necessary. He is also somewhat able to contort his body into strange and awkward positions, though perhaps not quite to the same degree as a performance enterologist.

Life by the Sword: By far his greatest asset, Izas is monstrous in close quarters combat; his lightsaber technique is exemplary. He favours a style centered around systematically exposing weaknesses in his opponents technique, building momentum, seamlessly transitioning into bouts of intense ferocity, capitalizing on those weaknesses, and then settling back into an analytic stance once again.

Martial Artist: Paired frequently alongside his saber combat, Izas makes frequent use of hand-to-hand techniques - putting his high level of physical prowess to frightening use. His style is based in opening up and striking vital areas with harsh kicks, elbows, and knees. These swift and decisive tricks facilitate strong grappling and swift submissions, designed to disable and neutralize the opponent as soon as the opportunity presents itself.

Infiltrator: Izas has a penchant for boarding, infiltrating, and capturing vessels, and the planning that comes with such a task. He has successfully carried out a number of these operations whilst under the employ of the Bright Order, and is keen to one day try and capture a battleship. With knowledge of breach-and-clear tactics and CQC at the forefront of necessity, a number of these skills are also translatable across any number of raid situations.

Mental Fortitude: Emotional control and mental fortitude was highly emphasized whilst within The Bright Order, and for its Force-Sensitives to an extreme degree. Izas was no exception. His mental fortitude is strong, and he is able to clear and focus his mind fairly easily. In tandem with his physically focused Force usage, naturally this has also strengthened him greatly against mental incursions.

Wilderness Expert: Izas' time in exposure, and later during external operations, has provided him with a great number of survival skills. He is able to thrive in all but the most drastic wilderness environments with minimal prior preparation.

Equipment

Ishtar: Created during his training with the Bright Order - Ishtar is an ornate lightsaber, sporting a white and gold curved-hilt with maroon etchings. It is primarily composed of a white steel-like metal, but is embellished with elaborate electrum elements. The hilt also features an electrum chain knuckle-bow, that spans from the from of the guard to the pommel. Ishtar's blade seems to

The Sun's Blessing: A set of high quality ceremonial robes, issued to force-users by The Bright Order as a mark of surviving indoctrination. White and maroon with a gold trim, they depict golden motifs of the sun, clouds, stars and sky.

I think you will need to make an NPC Faction write up for the Bright Order if you want to have any further interaction with them. It might be easier to say they were wiped out or at least had their advanced technology wiped out. The Republic doesn't even really have things like Dreadnaughts currently. Also, as a level one character, all characters have the skill and strength of an average Jedi Knight. The way you present your character's skills are far beyond that. This will need to be toned down a bit. Also, consider adding in some weaknesses, currently your character's only real shortfall is he is kind of a jerk. Weakness adds room for growth and makes the characters feel more real.

Let me know when those edits are made and I will hop back in and take a look!

Just a couple of things before I make tweaks.

I don't really intend to use the Order again for a long while, if at all, it's supposed to be a very insular place; I'll just adjust the wording to 'Flagship' in regards to the Dreadnought thing (they were tooled toward a different era initially, didn't take that into consideration). If a write-up is necessary though, I'm happy to put one together.

I mostly attempted to word his skills in relation to someone of his level, as a gauge of skill biases, but I can tweak some of the wording; I'd have thought he's fairly over-specialized in terms of skillset. Do you have any suggestions in terms of toning things down? Is it just the wording itself?

Outside of skillset though, I feel a little obligated to contest the lack of weakness. Sure on a surface level he's certainly fit for purpose in terms of his psychology, but I'd argue that a somewhat insidious tyrannical tendency and ambitious nature seem like massive potential drawbacks for a Jedi aspirant. There's also his pretty cut and dry attitude towards the exiles, and a sort of selfishly pragmatic approach. I think these elements have compelling and potentially dangerous implications, especially taking his new affiliation into consideration. Same again though, I'm happy to expand if you still feel it's necessary here.

Sorry for the delay. I am going to go ahead and approve the profile, but please change the phrasing for "Saber Master". I think it is fine to be more skilled in some areas. If he wants to consider himself a Master Duelist, that is one thing, but the reality is a Level One character isn't a master at anything. Everything else looks good or was merely a suggestion on my part.

APPROVED.
