PERSONALITY Jace is as straight-faced and by-the-book as they come. Well, that's how he reads in his old CorSec dossier, at least. Back then, he was one of the most up-and-out-standing cops on the entire Force. Never broke a law, reported everything he did, even down to the way he tied his shoelaces, smiled at everyone, made caf each morning. 'Course, that was way back when, before he took that IED to the cranium. After that, they always said he wasn't the same. He immersed himself in his work, and quickly rose through the ranks, achieving a CorSec Inspector's rank. His partners never stayed with him for more than a few weeks at most, finding him to be cold, calculating, and reserved in the extreme. Cairnspur preferred to work alone, and took extreme measures in his investigative work, going so far as to push away each and every other Inspector he worked with, who filed reports of unnecessary force that never reached the CorSec Director's ears. Eventually, he quit the force, and went off on his own. The next morning, his fellow officers found his badge on his empty desk. During his tenure as a bounty hunter and mercenary, he was entirely apathetic and uncaring, dealing with targets and enemies with the same unemotional capability he had when he was an Inspector. |
BIOGRAPHY Born on the planet Corellia in the year 1,000 ABY, young Jace always dreamed that he would join the Corellian navy, to fight against the "evil" pirates and smugglers that had reportedly been the cause of his father's death. He never spent much time with others, preferring the company of wires and gears to people, and wished that he himself was a robot, so that he wouldn't have to waste his energy on flesh and bone. Called a prodigy by both his mother and his teachers, he was always urged to go to engineering college, he instead found his place in the Corellian Security Force, the next best thing to the Corellian navy, in his young adult mind. He excelled in the force, and quickly found a place among the officers of CorSec. Loved by all, he was a friend who listened, a man who had grown out of his introversion. Cairnspur rapidly climbed ranks, until the fateful day when he was performing a drug smuggling bust in a local warehouse. An unexpected improvised explosive device and an incredibly expensive cybernetic surgery procedure later, funded by CorSec itself to bring their finest soldier back to life, Jace had become what he always dreamt as a child: a robot. He began to act like one as well, and some wondered if the explosion had struck deeper than the doctors claimed. With his new-found drive and cybernetic enhancements, he soared up the ranks even more quickly than before, and became an Inspector within a year of his fateful encounter with the IED. His partners dropped like flies, however, and the detective... he never batted an eye. Eventually, he tired of the ceaseless smuggling stings and pirate raids, and left CorSec, searching for a life among the stars, rather than one on the crime-choked planet's surface. He became a mercenary and bounty hunter for hire, and an engineer by trade. Armed with an arsenal of apathy and a holster of indifference, he became infamous for his glacially efficient work. Jace sought to mire himself in battle, to dance on the knife-edge between life and death, anything to splash the cold water of reality on his face and wake him from his unfeeling purgatory. Then, former detective Cairnspur found it, in the cause of the Makuran rebels and their fight against the oppressive Damarian Federation. This, finally, of all things, ignited the flames in his heart, that burning desire to fight, to protect, and above all, to win. This was a cause he could get behind, a battle he could brawl, and a war he could wage. If anyone were to, it would be him, Jace Cairnspur, former CorSec and subsequent bounty hunter. The Commonwealth Remnants needed every gun they can get, and he'd be damned if he he didn't offer his own. |
