~ Biography ~
Brought to Tython at a young age, Jaesun was discovered in an orphanage by an unnamed
Jedi Master in Onderon's Capital City. Even as a youngling Jae was a brooding sort. His early
diagnosis with a speech disorder led him to take on an introverted personality, preferring the
company of datapads in the library then the company of his own peers. This led to a rift
between Jae and his fellow younglings. Some younglings even turned to the age old habit
of bullying, further increasing Jae’s introverted tendencies.

Even with his dedicated study at a young age, Jae’s grasp of the force was always instinctual
and physical. Unrefined and unpredictable is often used to describe his abilities. Struggling
with even the most basic force abilities, his refuge gradually shifted from the halls of the library
to the lightsaber training and proving grounds. Emotions ran deep in Jae, and it showed in his
practice with a lightsaber. Years of frustration at being bullied on top of his inability to properly
express himself led to Jae favoring more aggressive lightsaber forms such as Ataru and Juyo.

As a Padawan, Jaesun’s Master took a more physical approach to Jaesun’s training in an
attempt to temper his ever present anger, and in a way he was successful. He helped Jaesun
temper and control his anger. Instead of relying on the age old method of meditation to get
into contact with the Force, his Master would encourage Jae to spar. Instead of having him sit
out on dangerous and often deadly assignments, his Master would bring him along.
Instead of preaching suppression of emotions, he encouraged a controlled approach to
augment Jae’s connection to the Force. Although this unorthodox approach has been
frowned upon by other Master’s, they could not argue it’s effectiveness in Jae’s training
and emotional control.

Now, recently Knighted Jedi Jaesun Aadel Rhyan, is ready to join the Jedi General in the
war against the Sith Brotherhood.

~ Excerpts of Jedi Archive Profile ~
*** Admittance Report ***
Initial observations of youngling Jaesun Rhyan reveal a quiet and reserved child. I believe this is
partly because of an apparent speech development disorder and partly because of his history in
the Onderon Orphanage System. Although slightly older than most admittance's into the Creche,
his home instability seems to have prevented any emotional attachment with parental figures or
his peers. I am concerned about his reluctance can lead to unwanted personality quirks. In his
short time in the Creche, he has done his best to avoid the social situations that would involve
prolonged interaction. It is my recommendation that Jaesun receives further supplementary
observation to offset any possible developmental issues.

Additionally in my one to one discussion with youngling Rhyan, he seemed to express a
great deal of reverence towards the Jedi Master who discovered him on Onderon. This lead to
further discussion involving the tenants of the Jedi Order. His curiosity of the Jedi Code and
Tenants of the Order seem to indicate the development of an early devotion to the Order.

*** Anniversary Report ***
As of 5 years after his admittance into the Tython Creche, Jaesun Rhyan has shown a keen
academic mind. Creche Masters have done nothing but praise his behavior in the classroom.
However, they have also expressed concern over his frustration over a lack ofsuccess in early
Force using exercises.

On a social and emotional front there has been little improvement since his initial
observation. Even with the success in treating his speech development, I fear it is too late for
any improvement of his social standing amongst his the other younglings. Several of the
older, more aggressive younglings have resorted to intimidation and bully like behavior despite
intervention by Creche Masters. Although he has yet to act out on it, several Creche Masters have
made note that they sensed a great deal of anger from youngling Rhyan when they have
intervened on his behalf.

*** Incident Report ***
Jaesun has been brought before the Creche Masters after being accused of using the Force on
a fellow youngling. Further investigation of the incident shows that Jaesun was not the aggressor
of conflict. However it is important to note that this is the first documented incident where Jaesun
has reacted to a fellow younglings harassment aggressively. It was only a matter of time before
such a reaction occurred, but what is surprising is Jaesun’s manner of retaliation. According to
archive footage, Jaesun Force Pushed the youngling rather forcefully across a hall. Jaesun
continues to struggle in the development of his Force abilities as is noted in his progress reports.
This incident seems to lend some credence to the belief of some Masters that Jaesun’s
abilities are more physical and instinctual.

It is my recommendation that Jaesun immediately begin more physical hands on training. In
part to further help develop his Force abilities, and also as an outlet for the anger he continues
to suppress.

*** Padawan Report ***
This is my final report on Jaesun Rhyan before his likely selection as a padawan. Several Masters
have stepped forward and expressed interest in taking Jae as a Padawan. The purpose of this
report is to help give them a clearer picture on Jae’s mental and emotional health as he can be
an enigma to those who do not know him as I do.

To put it simply, Jaesun is an idealist. His belief and devotion to the Jedi Code and Tenets are
absolute. He will fight for whatever he deems to be right, and he will keep fighting until his
body gives out and he cannot go on any longer. It is encouraging to see such impassioned
devotion to the Jedi Order and it even gives me hope for the future of our Order.

However, Jaesun’s personality leaves much to be desired. As mentioned in previous reports he i
s a quiet character. His interaction with people is usually short and to the point. Even awkward
at times as he has no qualms with speaking his mind. It is not recommended that he be brought
on high profile political assignments. He is more likely to cause a major incident then aid the
negotiating Master.

It is recommended that whatever Master does choose Jaesun, takes a more rigorous and physical
approach to his training.

*** Assignment Report ***
This report is a culmination of all observations of Padawan Jaesun Rhyan throughout his
apprenticeship. With his Knighting Ceremony imminent, I have had a chance to sit down with
Padawan Rhyan’s Master and those Masters who have worked in close conjunction with the
team. What I’ve learned is both insightful and somewhat worrying.

His loyalty to the order is absolute, of that nobody has any doubt. When he was young,
Padawan Rhyan took a devoted and almost zealous approach to the Jedi Code. But it
seems with age his understanding of the code and tenants has taken a more liberal
interpretation. His Master has noted numerous examples of Rhyan bending the Code to suit
the needs of the mission. This is cause for concern as one extreme example includes Jae’s
refusal to save a slaver which directly led to the slavers death.

Thanks to direct involvement with his Master, Jaesun’s social skills are greatly improved. But
he is still a difficult individual to get along with. He is a man of few words and some people
can interpret that as disinterest or a standard stoic Jedi approach. However, emotions run
deep with Padawan Rhyan as evidenced by his fighting style. In his youth he was quick to anger,
and stubborn to boot. But thanks to unique approaches by his Master, other Jedi have
now commented on Jae's turn around in emotional control. The anger is still there. Of
that I have no doubt. Just like any emotion it will forever be a part of him. But now
it is controlled, tempered. But I can't help but sense that he is teetering on the edge.

Despite his personality quirks, and flaws as a Jedi, you cannot doubt Jaesun Rhyan’s ability
to get the job done. From reading through after action reports of his Master and first hand
accounts, he displays exemplary bravery and skill in combat. But his diplomatic skills are
not up to par to handle sensitive topics. A Resolute Star Defender would stand a better
chance in the Kessel Maw. Despite these drawbacks, I do believe he is ready for Knighthood.

~ Attributes ~
*** Lightsaber ***
Expert
Jaesun’s skill with a lightsaber is remarkable. Concentrating mostly in the more aggressive
forms of Ataru and Juyo, he was relentless in single combat. However, due to the limitations
of Ataru and Juyo he could be easily overwhelmed by multiple opponents in a combined,
coordinated attack.

*** Acrobatics ***
Expert
Being able to push his body to limits most non force users can’t even begin to comprehend,
Jaesun is a natural at using the force to augment his physical abilities. His natural athletic and
acrobatic talent synergies well with his expertise in lightsaber combat. Creating a lethal yet
beautiful display on the battlefield, particularly with the Ataru Form.

*** Energy Manipulation ***
Apprentice
In rare moments of panic, Jaesun may rely on Energy Manipulation. But as evidenced by his
other Force abilities, he’s a disciple of the lightsaber. Therefore his use of the Force to
manipulate the energy around him is limited.

*** Telekinesis ***
Adept
Telekinetic skills are hit or miss with Jaesun. He does not rely on them while in a fight, but he does
have a basic grasp on them. Basics, such as small objects and his lightsabers, are easy and
rudimentary. But once you start getting to objects larger than an average humanoid, he begins
to struggle and requires concentration. But as evidenced by past events, his telekinetic abilities
can really emerge in moments of high emotion.

*** Healing ***
Novice
Jaeun lacks the ability to heal a papercut from old tome, let alone a severe blaster burn or other
complex injuries. He acknowledges the usefulness of such abilities, but much like the Force to
common people, the ability to control the Force and heal wounds is beyond his grasp.

*** Status Effects ***
Novice
This is a branch of the Force that Jaesun has never been able to find an interest in. His connection
with the force is strong, but he lacks the mental control to manifest it in such a way.

*** Trance ***
Novice
Having never truly being able to grasp the art of meditation, Jaesun’s trances are lackluster.
He’s always been a man of action, the idea of staying behind to be the support is not his style.

*** Sense ***
Expert
Along with his natural physical augmentations, Jaesun’s instinctual use of the force has granted him
keen senses which comes in particular use while using the lightsaber. Being able to sense the events
around him and the intentions of those wishing to do harm in the maelstrom of battle has saved his life
multiple times.

*** Mental Manipulation ***
Apprentice
Similar to Status Effects, Jaesun has never had the mental control to properly affect another's
mind. He can sense one's intentions and get a general idea on what is running through their mind,
but he lacks the ability to alter it.

~ Gear ~
To support his fast and aggressive style of lightsaber combat, Jae employed the use of two lightsabers.
One standard blue lightsaber for his main hand, and one short blue lightsaber for his off hand.

He wears light, form fitting composite armor on top of his Jedi robes. The armor is equipped with
several pouches filled with survival essentials such as energy rations and medkits.

He also carries a short vibroblade strapped to his ankIle, "just in case."

Just gonna put this out here that WIP aren't usually allowed in this sub-forum, although he seems to have most requirements. However, there are quite a few things that need improving.

First of all, you didn't put a rank in the the faction. Is he a Padawan? A Knight? This leads to my next point, which is his biography.

I don't see much of an actual story with his biography, it feels more like a brief sum-up of his life, not a full biography. Based on his age I would say add at least another paragraph. What was so horrible in the orphanage that led him to be an introvert? If he's a Knight, what was his Padawan years like? What missions did he go on? There's tons of questions you can ask to flesh him out better.

Next, it looks like you have the bare minimum for personality. Just because he's an introvert doesn't mean he has practically no personality traits. What's his drive to serve the Order? What does he think of various things? Try to make his personality as realistic as possible. One-sided personalities are not fun to RP or RP with and can be quite difficult.

For his attributes, you're going to have at least 3 sentences for each. Things like the novice-master scale and -/10s mean nothing in RP or PvP and are usually just a reference point for the writer.

Affirmative. Thank you for the constructive criticism. Really can't address it right now because my brain is shot (on hour 14 of a 16 hour work tour). But I'll take the character down and work on him some more when my brain is more up to it.

Lack of sleep and wanting to dive into the action probably led me to jumping the gun too early.

Ah, I see you chose to join the Jedi.

latest

Totally joking.

Anyway, this is a great first profile! It's clean, organized, and with a physical description more detailed than all my other profiles combined. Biography is a brief and concise summary-- I like it! Same with the attributes and gear (I don't even have that for my own character charts, neither do quite a number of other writers). However, if you plan to delve deep into the PVP world, it might be best to go further into that.

Although I do agree with Reya: the personality could use just a wee bit more. You could add other aspects to his psyche such as his honesty, trust, apathy/emotion, ambition, or intelligence.
E.g. "His prolonged fixation with books had wrought an unparalleled intelligence; an aptitude that propelled him forward in his studies. Yet this sharp mind came with a dull wit. Conversation is hard to come by on his own part."
You're more than welcome to use that, because it's just an example for Jae I'll probably never use again.

Just remember, criticism can be taken differently-- you are welcome to take my advice or refuse it. You should not feel immediately obligated to edit or change your creation unless it's against the rules or just absolutely nonsensical.
By the way, you should sign up your Jedi here, if you believe everything is in order.

P.S. I love that realistic aspect you took: his frustration in life leaking into his fighting style. Nice job!

Thanks. I originally signed up for the Jedi but I deleted the request until my tinkering with the profile is done. Currently overhauling the Personality, Biography, and Attributes section to add more detail. Writing it up in a series of reports from Jedi involved in Jaesun's development and growth.
