BIOGRAPHY

Born to a small family of salvagers on Mon Cala, Jal Widase had long known how to sail the stars. The practice was natural to him - he took to navigation, flight, and the cutthroat nature of the business quicker than either of his elder brothers. Thus, even as the youngest member of the family, it was him that took control over the business after his parents were imprisoned for illegal salvage.

He was 16 when the old salvage ship became his own. From there, he took a rather different route than his family; rather than stealing the broken parts off of ships, he became a smuggler of rare and illegal goods. His operation grew extensively: At first, he was a mere mule for larger organizations. By the time he was 26, though, he had built a robust business of smuggling - commanding a small fleet of reliable, armed smugglers to move throughout the mid and outer rim.

In an even more curious move, though, he abandoned this life of crime to serve his world. He pledged his skills and business to the Mon Cala Mercantile Fleet in exchange for a pardon from the Crown. From there, he became renowned as an aggressive pirate hunter, able to lure and destroy pirates all across Mon Cala’s shipping space. It was rumored that he still had his fingers in the underground, and was merely using his station as a way to exterminate rival pirates. His loyalty to the Crown, though, was proven time and time again throughout his years in the service.

Today, Jal no longer serves as a commander within the Trade Fleet. In pursuit of greater status across the galaxy, he has taken on a diplomatic position as Military Attache to the Mon Calamari Foreign Service Corps, both in their affairs with the Free Worlds Alliance and in the Galactic Senate. In this role, he represents various Mon Cala military interests across the galaxy. As a member of the Mon Cala military, he still retains his rank as Commander, though his commission has moved to the Mon Cala Naval Intelligence branch.

Personality

Jal has a natural slyness to him. From his time as a smuggler, to today as a legitimate military official, Commander Widase has maintained a gregariousness and charisma that ingratiates him to superiors and allies. Yet, behind that, there is a shrewdness, a ruthlessness, that built him. He is uncompromising, often stubborn, in his personal ambitions. Above all, he carries himself with a princely attitude - a confidence that can hide a deep pride. He exhibits extreme loyalty to allies, as well, so long as their interests are aligned.
