Jarak walked quickly along a durasteel corridor aboard the Jedi Flagship, the "Will Of The Force." He could usually be found studying on Tython, but he had been summoned here. He hadn't been this nervous since he first joined the Jedi, his palms were sweating and his padawan robes seemed stifling. A Jedi Master, Vortigen of Lorrd no less, had summoned him for some one on one training. He had been surprised and honored by the offer, but now, as the moment neared he was somewhat intimidated. Vortigen of Lorrd had a reputation as a fearsome Jedi, and Jarak, having never met him in person, did not know what to expect.

Soon Jarak reached the door of the training room that Master Vortigen had specified. Gathering his courage, he set his face into a neutral expression and began to calm himself. Then, Jarak activated the door control and entered the training room.

Inside, Vortigen sat on a bench to the right. The room was conservatively lit with cheap lights; enough to give a good view of things but not for any close view of things. Vortigen held a slender piece of metal in his hand. It was a single sided blade, a kind that some Jedi with a fondness for the Purity of Combat. Vortigen shared this fondness for an old way of Jedi combat.

"Welcome, Padawan." His voice had a weight like a large beast, like a deep feline growl. He too was large, even seated the Lorrdian was clearly of large stature. "Take this sword, we begin with the basics."

Jarak bowed without a word and took the single sided sword, he smiled slightly to himself. The sword was very similar to the Iridonian war swords that he had trained with most of his life. That, along with his basic Vaapad training and Jarak felt very confident of his abilities.

With a flourish he brought the sword into a traditional double handed defense pose, left hand dominate, right foot back.

"I'm ready master." said the powerfully built young Zabrak.

He could see the training, aggressive undertones, a potential for darkness. That kind of training would need to be tended to, he would need to be groomed to a proper Jedi. That would take time, but training was a group effort in these times.

"I can see you've had some instruction, but you've never been been allowed enough to grow. Straighten your stance, don't show me how aggressive you are. You are a Jedi, not a warrior. Present yourself in that image and you reveal no weakness to your enemy."

Vortigen leaned back on the bench. He was relaxed as his eyes picked out details that none other than a man of Lorrd could see. His head gave the inclination to his student to shift his position, to take his advice and adjust.

Jarak felt his temper rise slightly at his basic stance being corrected, but he quickly quelled it. He was after all, here to learn, not to display his knowledge. Trying, with partial success, to adopt a more humble, neutral attitude.

"Yes master, I will do as you say."

He said, adjusting his stance slightly, following the silent directions of the Jedi Master. He took up his new ready stance, still crouched a bit forward, but more balanced, more aware of the room around him, trying to let more of the force flow through him and less of his own emotion.
