Jedi Army v. Jedi Order

I've read on the site the verging difference between the Jedi Army v. the Jedi Order and I'm fairly sure I understand the distinction.

My question is if there is somewhere else on the site where the 'Jedi Order' exists? Not saying I want to leave the Jedi (Army) faction, but was just curious.

Thanks!

I'll tag @Vosrik here to correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe there is a "Jedi Order" faction on the site at the moment, just the Jedi Army

Phoenix is correct! If one were to want to be a part of the Jedi Order, they would have to play as an Indie because the Jedi faction revolves around the Army ;)

I'm just curious as why we can't have both just under your wing @Vosrik ? :) Also wouldn't it offer more logical paths IC-ly for characters? For example for the players with really, really pacifistic Jedi characters, I mean like, actually it does not make any sense whatsoever to have em in the army does it @_@?
Also what if someone does play a member of the Jedi Order and plays them as Indie as suggessted here? Do they still have to tag/ask you for anything revolving around the Order/the army / the council? I mean it would make sense but why then separate them in the first place?

Also would it be possible to put this in the rules for the Jedi :)? That you can play either a member of the Order (Indie) or member of the army (Jedi)?
Because as of now noone is aware of this and I think it should be available knowledge for everyone :) (new members most likely would rather check the rules then every thread in the OOC)

sorry for bothering you Vos, this is just something I was wondering about for quite a while. I know the timeline is more about the army and that's totally fine with me (prefer the warrior badasses over monks anyday :P) however if people still decide to go for peaceful Jedi, would it not make more sense to offer them the Order and let them still be part of the Jedi faction and to not force them into the army if the concept of their character and the army clashes?

Hope it's ok I posted here even <3

Well, this answer's going to need a little backstory. Way back at the beginning of the timeline in February, the faction ran quite similarly to what it did now under the leadership of Bauren, only the Jedi were literally steamrolling through missions maybe a week at a time and jumping into PvP everywhere. In fact, it got to a point where the Jedi got a sort of a bad rep in that nobody else wanted to RP with them. While perhaps our methods back then were a bit aggravating to others, it certainly encouraged a great deal of activity.

Now, when Bauren stepped down after the attack on Tython and then had a transition between Eli and myself, the lines between the Jedi Army and Jedi Order became very blurred. The Temples were used regularly and some people made extremely pacifistic Jedi in the faction, the Army (which clearly doesn't make a lot of sense). I had the choice right before revamping the faction to either have the Council killed and assuming control of the entire Jedi Order, or just sticking with the Army like we had in the beginning of the timeline. I chose the latter, because unfortunately being pacifistic and defensive doesn't breed activity - we had a huge lull when being "defensive" after the attack on Tython.

Now with that being said, what I mentioned about having a character in the Order needing to be Indie is simply because they won't be able to participate in Jedi Army (or Faction) activities. Although this certainly can seem as limiting, it gives the faction an excellent sense of direction as a whole instead of having it split two ways (the active more warlike ones vs the pacifistic ones).

Also, as for interacting with the Council, I suppose they would have to contact me about it. It's been assumed this timeline that the Order mostly sits back on their Temple worlds and study the Force, staying out of the affairs of others (and therefore not really to be NPC'd or interacted with).

@Vosrik - Hmm... my Jedi might be more of an Indie, then. But if you're part of the S.A.D, that's still within the Army, right?

My question is if I were to go indie, would I loose my powers, I think right now the republic is against the Jedi correct me if wrong. If they are not it would make for some interesting threads considering mine is an ambassador/ diplomat and there are a few others as well

Yes, though technically if he is an Indie he would be a contractor and not be party to some of the more secret information/ larger asset requests but given your char is a member of the Order I might just make an exception mhmm. Or maybe he does missions for the SAD and then slowly comes to believe in what the Army is doing? We'll work it out when I get back from my trip, remind/pm me.

I feel like someone should actually make the 'Jedi Order' indie faction so that they do exist in some official form, even if solely as a tool to be used by people wanting to interact with them. I think i get that this is a more combat centric timeline, but isolating those who wanna be jedi and not fight completely seems a tad odd. :/

Love you all <3
