Meridian: Episode One - Screenplay Draft - 01
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...
STAR WARS
MERIDIAN
It is a period of war. The SITH EMPIRE has returned from the edges of the galaxy to strike out at the noble REPUBLIC and it's far-flung border worlds. Evil is everywhere and the war has stretched the REPUBLIC fleet thin. Privateers and corporate flotillas volunteer to enter the space lanes and provide support to the embattled REPUBLIC forces.
As pirate attacks increase all across REPUBLIC space, a daring rescue mission is now being mounted to reclaim one such private affair. MEGA CORPORATION's newest prototype vessel. The Meridian. A spaceship built in solemn secrecy at the farthest edges of REPUBLIC space. A spaceship stolen by the infamous pirate queen, Leah Ashra, during it's first test flight into the dangerous Gordon Reach.
Back on planet Theta VI. Rookiee pilot and MEGA CORPORATION employee, Kitt Macy, now prepares to take his place aboard the daring rescue mission that will change the history of the galaxy forever...

Back on planet Theta VI. Rookiee pilot and MEGA CORPORATION employee, Kitt Macy, now prepares to take his place aboard the daring rescue mission that will change the history of the galaxy forever...
One - 1

The scene opens with our future pilot, Kitt Macy, scrambling to get his stuff ready for departure. The MEGA patrol frigate Exalt is scheduled to depart today and he is going to be their shuttle pilot. (**exposition about the Republic vs Sith war here via dialogue between Kitt and girlfriend**) He kisses his girlfriend goodbye from their posh luxury apartment and disappears out the door. Dragging his new uniform along with him down to the car. We pan out the window of their apartment and our camera takes us into orbit where our spaceship is waiting for us.
Kitt's shuttle arrives with great fanfare and a long panning shot of the hull. The ship is busy with people and the atmosphere is that of a very rushed depature. Kitt runs into CMDR Hails, (**our Halle Berry**), and she instructs him how to get settled in. Then hands him off to LT. McBride to get his shuttle in order down on the flight deck. Scene follows CMDR Hails as the others take the elevator.
Now we follow CMDR Hails as she joins the bridge crew on the command deck. Camera pans over the bridge and we get our first glimpse of CAPT Rand. A brown-skinned fellow with unique eyes and perhaps Zabrak origins. As his forehead shows many unique ridges and spikes. He asks Hails if everything is order for their departure to the Gordon Reach and onto their rescue mission. CMDR Hails takes her station and replies that all is ready. They can depart. CAPT Rand nods and they jump to lightspeed.

Inside the Exalt's hanger bay, and inside it's away shuttle, we find Kitt is settling into his new pilot's chair. The cabin is dark and empty, and he sets a picture of his girlfriend near the console. Smiling as he looks around his new future. A real pilot after all. The back door to the shuttle opens and LT McBride enters the cabin with a curious boredom to his search. Wondering where Kitts has disappeared to. They both exit the shuttle and talk about some of the new changes MEGA has made to the spaceship. Including their use of Super Torpedoes. We mention the war and it's progress on the border planets. Nearby a soldier is checking his gear. Kitt asks what this new mission about and why all the hurry. The LT says he doesn't really know. Just that they are supposed to be doing a routine check of some kind out in the Gordon Reach. The nearby soldier begins to check his armor and Kitt asks where their are so many commandos on board then? Routine checks don't require commandos? The soldier checking his gear and the LT catch each others eyes and nothing more need be said. McBride just shakes his head and says it will be a good first trip for the new and naive Kitts. He'll start to see the galaxy differently soon.
On the bridge, CMDR Hails informs the CAPT of their arrival. CAPT Rand nods as the Exalt exits lightspeed. Outside the ship's windows is a green planet with wild asteroid belt formation around it. The space beyond the planet is stormy and rugged. The CAPT orders the ship to scan for distress beacons. But before the order can finish a red alert hits the screen. CMDR Hails mentions that a pirate warship is closing on them. A larger vessel. (**Light Cruiser?**) CAPT Rand nod and orders the alert ship wide. Battle stations. The two ship's engage in battle and minor damage is done to both craft. Rand orders them closer to the enemy vessel and then calls for the use of Super Torpedoes. Hails nods and the orders are followed out. The pirate warship is disabled with the torpedoes. Rand nods again and orders a com channel opened to the enemy ship. They will discuss surrender. Yet suddenly the pirate vessel self-destructs of it's own accord. Leaving nothing but scrap metal outside the ship's windows. Hails is stunned but Rand says nothing. They continue their mission deeper into the asteroid belt and down towards the planet.

Kitt helps move wounded crewmen down to the medical deck after the battle. Damage is shown to have spread to the inside of the ship as well. Here Kitt speaks with the nurse for a moment before the leader of the commandos, CMDR Takada, asks his name. Kitt mentions he is new to the ship and it's shuttle pilot. Nobody special. Takada asks him about his record for fancy flying and daring manuevers. Kitt agrees that he's aquired a rep for dangerous flying. But that all of that is in the past now. Takada smiles and says he hopes that it really isn't. Kitt and the CMDR Takada are then told to return to their stations in a hurry. They've found something outside.
Outside the Exalt's bridge lingers the image of a cluttered astroid belt, a dingy pirate space station, and new type of MEGA starship. The Meridian. Attached to the side of the pirate space station near the foundation of a large asteroid. CAPT Rand nods to the discovery. Quickly CMDR Hails gives a new report of a full squadron of pirate fighters that has just left the pirate base. CAPT Rands asks if the pirates have seen them yet. Hails replies that interference from the asteroid field is masking their approach. The commando's leader CMDR Takada arrives and requests a suicide mission against the pirate base. He'll take the shuttle down there and capture it for the team. Meanwhile, Rand is to lead the enemy starfighters away from the planet so that they cannot interfere.
Hails barks at the idea but Rand is moved by the idea. He agrees to the wild plan and orders the shuttle launched while the Exalt fires it's Super Torpedoes at the pirate defense guns. The commando CMDR Takada nods and returns out the door. Hails gives the CAPT a look of disbelief but it is too late to change the plan.
Kitt's readies his shuttle as the commandos climb aboard. They all wear the same black armor and look very special-forces'y. The commando CMDR Takada stands behind Kitts as the door closes and the shuttle bay opens. They launch just as the Exalt reveals itself to the enemy base and shoots more torpedoes. Destroying it's defense guns. The Exalt pulls away as the enemy starfighters notice their mistake and double-back to give chase. They begin a chase over top the asteroid field. Meanwhile, Kitts lands the shuttle inside the pirate base and the soldiers disembark. Kitts attempts to stay with the shuttle but the CMDR orders him to come with them.
He says he needs a pilot.

Hails declares the defenses of the ship as the enemy starfighters begin their assault. The Exalt is greatly damaged and Rand declares they must jump to lightspeed. They exit the asteroid field and make the jump to lightspeed just as the starfighters fire their last missiles. It is a clean escape and the missiles miss.
Meanwhile, the commandos have killed many pirates in the base and are now approaching a bulkhead door. It leads to the captured MEGA prototype on the other side. Using explosives and hacking tools the commandos blow the door and board the ship. Inside they discover that much of the crew has been killed. There are blood stains on the floor but no bodies. The CMDR Takada leads Kitt to the bridge of the prototype vessel and asks if he can fly it. Kitt agrees he can. Suddenly a firefight breaks out between the commandos and some droids. Kitt says he needs the CMDR to restart the engines manually as there is a computer lock down on the systems. The CMDR nods and leaves to blast droids and find Engineering. Leaving Kitts alone on the bridge.
Kitts plays with the computers and accidentally activates the ship's A.I. A holographic woman named Meridia. At first she believes Kitts to be a pirate but he quickly shows her his badge and outfit. She acknowledges the lock down and tells Kitt that he needs to remove her electronic shackles so she can retake possession of the ship's systems. He nods and tells the CMDR Takada the news. The CMDR nods, finds Engineering, and removes the shackles. Allowing Meridia to restart the ship.
Just in time too. The pirate starfighters are returning and Kitts needs to make an escape. Without their bombs, the starfighters shoot lasers at Kitt's ship. The shields block them easily. Kitts takes the ship away from the pirate base as the CMDR and his commandos return to the bridge. Meridia takes command of the ship's weapons and begins shooting down the starfighters. Kitts notices the shields are failing but doesn't think they can go lightspeed. They are rescued when Rand and Hails return from lightspeed and begin to shoot at the starfighters too. The remaining pirates retreat to lightspeed.

Rand says that pirate reinforcements will reach them before MEGA or the Republic can send another ship. Meridia offers a solution. Another pirate vessel down on the planet's surface. Rand and Takada agree. They'll steal that pirate hyperdrive for the Meridian.
Kitt's lands near a shoreline behind the ruins of another pirate base. The commandos disembark and meet up with the security team from Rand's vessel. Hail is leading them. Together the security teams move to find this lost pirate corvette spaceship near the ruins. Meanwhile, Rand boards the Meridian and speaks with Kitts about flying her. He is unfortunately, relieved of duty and the A.I. Meridia is asked to stand down too. Saddened, Kitts exits the ship to help with supplies.
Meanwhile, Hails and Takada find a group of MEGA captives in the ruins. Members of the Meridian crew who survived the pirate assault in orbit and where captured. Including CAPT Marcus. They ask where the pirate guards are and about a lost Hyperdive they can steal. Marcus replies that all the guards have just left on sandskiffs because two new vessels where approaching from orbit. Hails and Takada share a moment of horror. Rand and both vessels near the beach are in danger. But Marcus does know where they can steal a hyperdrive too. Marcus and Takada decide to chase the drive while Hails leads the security teams back to the ships.

Kitts is in the jungle when he hears a strange noise nearby. Pirate sandskiffs fly right over him as they begin to attack the Meridian. An explosion is heard in the direction of the grounded Exalt as well. Kitts drops his supplies and rushes to cover. He realized he has no gun. Cursing himself he slides closer to the battle.
CAPT Rand rallies a defense against the pirates on the beach but they are all quickly cut down by pirate attack droids. Super Droids. Large machines that drop out of the sandskiffs in teams of two and shoot repeating lasers. Rand throws an energy capsule and then shoots it. Blowing up two of the large machines before the pirates turn and shoot him too. The remaining crew retreat inside the ships and close the doors.
As the pirates moved to blow open the outer doors with explosives, Hails and the returning secruity teams attack them from a ridgeline. Splitting their focus, the pirates task the attack robots to deal with these new interlopers. The rest begin to set the explosives. Kitt hijacks a sandskiff and begins to use it's laser cannons to destroy the pirate's robots. Another sandskiff crashes into his and they both go down. Hails and the commandos overcome the remaining pirates before they can blow the doors. The ships on the beach are safe.

Underground now. CMDR Takada and CAPT Marcus find a pirate shuttle deep in an underground grotto and check it's hyperdrive. It still works and can be salvaged for parts. Marcus decided to fly it to the Meridian for it's tear down.
Meanwhile, Kitts and Hails discuss piloting issues on the Meridian. As Kitts is the only remaining pilot and CAPT Rand has died from his gunshot wound. Marcus and Takada arrives and Hails discusses what is going to happen. Marcus says the pirate fleet will arrive before they can swap the hyperdrives out. So they have to hurry and come up with a new plan.
Marcus and the captives alongside the remaining crew of the Exalt, begin the repairs. Meanwhile, Kitts and Hails talk with Meridia about fixing the ship and escaping. A pirate dreadnought arrives in orbit and begins to survey the events. It is a massive vessel that once again aims to capture the Meridian vessel on behalf of the Sith Empire. Lead on the bridge by none other than the infamous pirate queen Leah Ashra. They dispatch landing vessels to the beaches near the ruins. Where only one MEGA spaceship is left standing. Only the Exalt is visible on the beach.
Hails and Takada take cover in the jungle with a detonator and a sniper's rifle as the landing ships of the pirates arrive on the beach. They are alone. The pirate troopers disembark and begin to move against the beached ship. Hail's presses her detonator and the ship's laser cannons begin firing upon the enemy formations via remote. As the pirates shoot back in vain, the pirate dreadnought fires it's main cannon from orbit and the Exalt is destroyed. the CMDR Takada uses the explosion to fire his sniper rifle and attach a hacking unit onto the pirate's super robots. Slowly, the robots eyes change colors as Meridia's virus takes control of them.
The pirates and their robots move to search the ruins. The pirates are unaware their super robots are no longer their own.
Nine - 9Hails and Takada take cover in the jungle with a detonator and a sniper's rifle as the landing ships of the pirates arrive on the beach. They are alone. The pirate troopers disembark and begin to move against the beached ship. Hail's presses her detonator and the ship's laser cannons begin firing upon the enemy formations via remote. As the pirates shoot back in vain, the pirate dreadnought fires it's main cannon from orbit and the Exalt is destroyed. the CMDR Takada uses the explosion to fire his sniper rifle and attach a hacking unit onto the pirate's super robots. Slowly, the robots eyes change colors as Meridia's virus takes control of them.
The pirates and their robots move to search the ruins. The pirates are unaware their super robots are no longer their own.
Inside the ruins the pirates are attacked by the security teams again and their radio's are jammed. The super robots switch sides and obliterate the pirate troopers. Marcus smiles as Takada and Hails return to the caves. The security teams don pirate jackets and quickly return to the beach to reboard the pirate's loading vessels. They report the enemy ship has left the planet and are accepted back aboard the dreadnaught. Though the pirate queen remains skeptical when his LT does not give the report.
The pirate queen awaits in the hanger bay of her dreadnaught as the ships return from the beach. They unload only their hacked super droids and no crew. So the pirate queen curses and demands to know what is going on. She grabs a radio as the small laser cannons on the returning shuttles begin to swivel. Then the commandos attacks the hanger bay to great success. The pirate queen is killed by an assault droid.
CMDR Takada dismounts the shuttles in his pirate outfit and waves the security teams up towards the dreadnaught's bridge. They arrive just in time to note that a self-destruct sequence has been activated and the pirate ship is set to explode. The commandos flee to escape pods as the countdown ticks away. The CMDR messages Marcus that the dreadnaught has been taken out and to have the Meridian pick them up in escape pods down on the planet's surface.
The pods launch with the commandos and the dreadnaught is destroyed.

Marcus smile on the bridge of the Meridian as Hails and Kitts coms in. All escape pods accounted for. Takada and his men are safe. They are returning to the ship now on a sandskiff. Meridia tell Marcus that the repair to the hyperdrive is almost complete and they can leave when ever they want. Marcus nods and is grateful. He dislikes this planet anyway. He takes the CAPT's chair and strokes the leather. Ready to go home.
Everyone returns to the ship and they make ready to leave. Marcus makes an announcement to his old crew of their escape from the pirates custody and thanks the new crew for their rescue. Together they are all going home. He then turns to Kitts in the pilot's chair and says: Let's go home. Kitts smiles and they escape from their hiding place in the pirate's grotto.
The camera pans back to space where the Meridian makes lightspeed and the wreckage of the dreadnaught remains.
Eleven - 11Everyone returns to the ship and they make ready to leave. Marcus makes an announcement to his old crew of their escape from the pirates custody and thanks the new crew for their rescue. Together they are all going home. He then turns to Kitts in the pilot's chair and says: Let's go home. Kitts smiles and they escape from their hiding place in the pirate's grotto.

The CMDR Takada is sitting in the starport in his new uniform as his (*alien) girlfriend arrives to hug him in great surprise. They embrace. She asks him if he is leaving again for outer space and he says he is on medical leave for a broken *something. She smiles and nods to his semi-vacation. Together they move to the windows and outside in the dock is the Meridian. Shiny and new. The CMDR smiles to his girlfriend and they embrace again. He says he'll miss that ship. She was quite the beauty. The camera pans to a memorial of all of the original ship's lost crew. Many names are present but the view comes to rest upon CAPT Rand. A moment for the lost as the camera goes dark again.
On the bridge of the Meridian, CAPT Marcus is in command. He takes his chair and asks for a report. Hails turns around from her console and nods that they are ready to go. Marcus smiles and turns to the pilot's chair. Kitts turns around and says all clear. Marcus nods and then turns to the ship's A.I. Meridia appears and gives him a happy salute. All hands accounted for. So the CAPT nods to the windows and the Meridian leaves the space dock.
Ready and new for another adventure.

A particularly uncommon design by CEC, the Vesper is a dynamic spaceship built for aggressive light duty. While somewhat lacking in size and strength compared to larger capital ships, this patrol boat is fast and agile enough to interdict against most exotic commercial vessels and starfighters. With a full compliment of space faring equipment and a tiered communications package onboard, Vesper's also make for ideal recon vessels out into uncharted space.
