X'jan strode down the hall, entering the arena. He grabbed out his training lightsaber, using the Force, and spun it around above his hand, without touching it of course. It was good practice. Seeing his opponent, he pushed his lightsaber into the air, and caught it in his hand, activating it.
"You ready?" He asked his opponent, holding his lightsaber above his head in the classic Djem So attack stance, close enough to light up his tendrils a brighter green like the glow of the saber.

A tournament had been organized by the Jedi. Nero was one of the people who had signed-up for the tourney. According to the notification he had received ten minutes ago, he was to fight X'jan Rin. He walked in a few seconds before the match was to start; had he arrived later, he would have been disqualified.

Nero ignited his own training lightsaber, having been told not to use his real one, Hope.

"Of course," replied Nero.

Nero charged at X'jan, swinging vertically at the opponent. He made sure to be able to lean back if needed to to dodge if a counterattack came but would need to make sure not too much as to avoid falling back. If his attack were to fail, he decided he'd try for a horizontal attack.

Seeing his opponent charging at him head on, X'jan quickly changed his stance to a defensive one, placing his weight onto his back foot, his lightsaber vertical in front of him, ready to bat off any swing. A good choice, it appeared, as he batted Nero's swing off to the right, followed by a horizontal counterattack, which missed due to Nero begin prepared. X'jan then jumped backwards, returning to his stance, ready for another attack. Nero might not be so lucky this time.

Nero's attacks were stopped by X'jan, to Nero's disappointment. The Padawan had gotten lucky, but that would change.

Nero wasted no time going again. Using both hands, he put his strength into a crescent swing going down.

X'jan, with enhanced speed from the force, leaned back and tried to deflect Nero's attack again, but he was just too fast this time, and gave X'jan a nasty scar down his chest. With real lightsabers it wouldn't have been fatal, but still would have done a lot of damage. Wincing, X'jan jumped forward, doing a quick stab before his opponent could prepare for another attack. The then took a few jumps backwards, leaving a good gap between the two combatants.

Nero's crescent swing managed to hit its target. X'jan decided to counter with a quick stab. Nero's lightsaber wouldn't make it in time so Nero decided to drop down, the lightsaber sizzling his blue hair. Nero propelled himself up but by then X'jan had retreated back a few feet.

"Not going to take the initiative?" taunted Nero, hoping X'jan would get more arrogant with attacks.

Nero walked to X'jan, lightsaber tight in hand. If he got close enough, he would go for a diagonal swing starting from the bottom.

X'jan remained silent, ignoring the taunt. As Nero approached, he backed away further, making sure he didn't walk into the edge of the arena.
Time to try something new. X'jan used the force on Nero's lightsaber in an attempt to disarm him and take his lightsaber, or at least distract him for a bit.

Nero was unable to get close enough to swing. Instead, his opponent tried to pull Nero's lightsaber out of his hands.

Nero was surprised that X'jan hadn't researched his opponent before the match. Nero's primary form was Makashi, which had some specialization against disarmment. However, it was mostly from parrying, so Nero had to get a little creative.

If X'jan wanted his lightsaber, he'd get it. With his lightsaber, Hope, like a spear, Nero charged at X'jan. As he ran, the human used Force Pull on the Nautolan.

So. X'jan's brilliant plan failed miserably. Well, it wasn't a total loss. Now he flying towards his opponent, with his opponent running towards him. So X'jan let the Force take a hold of him, and he outstretched one are holding his still-ignited lightsaber, and spun round to strike his opponent.

Nero was almost taken back by X'jan's countermove. Nero used Force Push on himself, knocking himself to the left, away from the enemy's lightsaber. Since the Nautolan was still moving, Nero used Force Push again, to try to throw the Jedi out of the ring.

Although it was better than his last move, X'jan's new move still didn't work so well. He did his best to dig his lightsaber into the ground, but it barely made any difference. In a last attempt to escape being knocked unconscious, X'jan tried to use the Force to brace himself, even use Force Push on himself to slow his flight. It worked, but not by much. X'jan hit the ground hard, only his determination to win keeping him conscious.
"I will not lose..." he said weakly, getting to his feet, adapting a defensive stance, ready to counter attack.

Nero decided to focus on disqualifying X'jan, or at least make the other Padawan think that.

After turning off Hope, Nero dropped his lightsaber. Before it could even reach the ground, Nero bombarded X'jan with miniature forms of his previously executed Force Push, as if punching the Nautolan with invisible fists. He did this for a few times.

Then came the second phase of his assault. Aided by the Force, Nero kicked his lightsaber across the floor, igniting it halfway across. Once it neared X'jan, he'd unleash more powerful Force Pushes, in order to knock X'jan out of the ring.

When X'jan saw his opponent drop his lightsaber and raise his hands, it took him that much longer than it should have for him to realize what Nero was trying. He leaned forward, and was thankful that he wasn't doing any full Force Pushes. X'jan barely managed to stay on his feet, and once he looked up he saw Nero's lightsaber flying towards him. Ignited. Without time to wonder how much training that might have taken, X'jan used the Force to push it off to the side, so it skimmed just past his arm, then tried to pull it back towards him, to wield both lightsabers.

Nero used Force Pull on his own lightsaber and on X'jan's lightsaber. His enemy would have a difficulty time trying to keep his own and keep taking Nero's Hope, resulting in Nero obtaining one of them.
