Let him know that you know best
Cause after all you do know best.
Try to slip past his defense
Without granting innocence.

Lay down a list of what is wrong
The things you told him all along
And pray to God he hears you
And pray to God he hears you.

Where did I go wrong? I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life....

Appearance:
Standing at nearly two meters, Josiah was known to have a commanding presence that symbolized his status as a true leader. His blue eyes and long hair were two of his distinctive features, as was his generally stone cold face that showed very little emotion unless he needed to show it. He was also in good shape, considering his older age.

During the age of awakening that followed the conclusion of the destructive Great Sovereign Crusades, Josiah helped the Bendu Order transform the image of its members. Before the crusades, most Bendu wore armor, though Josiah believed it reflected a far more uncivilized time in their history. While most Bendu adopted a monk-like style of dressing, Josiah chose to retain the armor status to signify that he was the leader of the Bendu Order. The Bendu and the citizens of Kal’Shabbol also saw it a symbol of strength, something that they desperately wanted to see during such a turbulent time.

Personality:
Much like his closest friend, Ussej Padric Bac III, Josiah was known to be a very kind and compassionate person by those who knew him best, though most said that getting to know him very well was difficult considering his instinctively-closed nature. Many assumed it went with the title of being a High Priest, as there was a great deal of stress involved in the job every single day, though others felt it was simply a shield to mask his insecurities about being alone. Regardless, he was a very gentle man under his rough exterior, and he felt that because he lived on a world that had been torn by war twice in fifty years he was simply being realistic by not showing his emotions, as he felt that they could be used against him.

More often than not, Josiah told himself that not having a wife or a family did not bother him, but others were not so sure. Some believed that it truly did bother him, but he had simply told the lie so many times that he may have convinced himself that it was the truth. Regardless, many had pointed out that while talking about the nature of loneliness, Josiah’s commanding presence would diminish somewhat and he would almost seem like a sad and lonely older man.

Likes and Dislikes:
The Sith Empire was, without a doubt, Josiah’s strongest dislike, though he harbored no hatred towards them. Jedi Bendu and Bendu teachings, however skewed it may have been before the age of awakening, taught that all beings should be respected simply for the fact that they were alive, regardless of the fact that they may have been Jedi, Sith, Bendu, Gungan or Ewok. However, Josiah still greatly despised what the Sith Empire did and planned to do. His greatest like was the people of the Bendu Order and the Ashlan Expanse, as he held them in very high regard and had a tremendous amount of respect for them.

Strengths and Weaknesses:
Josiah’s strength was his ability to swallow his pride and admit defeat, something he had wished the Bendu had done before the exile of the Jedi Order. His other greatest strength was his recognition of the greatest flaw of Humanity: no Human ever wanted to bleed, as they believed that showing blood, both literally and metaphorically, was a sign of weakness. Josiah, however, believed it to be a sign of great strength as he and any other who believed like he did would be able to stand up and look into the face of their enemy and say flat out that they were not afraid. His weakness, however, was his hidden desire for companionship and the fact that he had lied so many times about it that it made him believe that he was perfectly content with the way his life was. Many feared that there would come a time when Josiah would do anything, even something that went against his ideals, for love.

History:
Josiah Rendar was born into a long line of legendary war heroes, Jedi masters, Sith Lords and Bendu High Priests from Corellia and Kal’Shabbol. He was the grandson of the late famed former Sith Lord and redeemed Jedi Master Kit Corwin Rendar and Aletra Jekkura. Josiah’s parents were David Rendar and his wife, who gave birth to Josiah three years following the conclusion of the Ashlan Civil War that took place on Kal’Shabbol, Had Abaddon, Ondus and Aquilae between the Bendu Order and the tyrannical forces of Husen Al-Dubrir.

After the death of Ussej Padric Bac II during the final battle of the Great Rim Lines War on Dxun, custody of Ussej Padric Bac III was given to the Rendar family. Josiah and Ussej grew up like brothers and went through their Bendu training together, though because he was older Ussej received Knighthood before Josiah. When they were Bendu Knights and eventually Bendu Priests, Josiah and Ussej traveled on numerous missions together within the Ashlan Expanse, many of them being on Had Abaddon to help restore peace and democracy.

After many years, Josiah was appointed to the Bendu Council of Priests alongside Ussej. Within a few years, David Rendar passed away and Ussej was elected to become the High Priest of the Bendu Order. For some time, Josiah was secretly jealous, as he felt it would have been appropriate for the title to be passed from a father to a son. However, he came to terms with Ussej’s appointment and helped him through many difficult situations.

When he was forty-eight years old, a dark tremor was felt within the Force of Others. Josiah was with Ussej at the time, and after the tremor Ussej began to have a violent seizure. Josiah rushed over to him, but it was over just as soon as it had began. Ussej told Josiah that he had been on Ashlan Four for hours with Ussej Padric Bac, the Shaman of the Whills, for hours rather than being unconscious for seconds. Ussej told Josiah that the Shaman had said that the Sith Empire had returned to power and that the Bendu Order would be required to help the Republic and the Jedi, despite the prejudice that they held towards the Jedi for what happened during the schism that broke apart the Order of the Jedi Bendu of the Ophuchi. Josiah was surprised by the revelation that Ussej Padric Bac was the Shaman of the Whills, but given the Prophecy of The Voyager it was not hard to come to terms with.

One week later, the Bendu Order prepared to leave Kal’Shabbol for Republic space. Josiah was assigned to remain on Kal’Shabbol to oversee the acceptance of Bendu Hopefuls and the training of the Bendu Apprentices, meaning that he would be unable to help with the war effort. While he was somewhat disappointed that he would not be able to help fight the good fight, he knew that training was a fact of life and he took great pride in the work he had been assigned to do, as he was literally watching the next generation of Bendu Knights grow before his very eyes.

A few months after the Bendu first left Kal’Shabbol, Josiah received a message from Ussej telling him that the Bendu Order had joined forces with the Shadourian Order, a group founded by Damien Nightblade that had helped them during the Ashlan Civil War, and was preparing to launch a holy crusade against the Jedi Order due to the fact that they were incompetent and unable to protect the galaxy as their mandate said. Josiah protested the idea, stating that it would have untold consequences on the galaxy. However, Ussej and many others had already made up their minds and Josiah was forced to live with that decision.

A year later, Josiah welcomed Ussej and the Bendu back home to Kal’Shabbol. The citizens of the world rejoiced when their protectors arrived home, and while Josiah was pleased to see his old friend once more he could not help but be displeased that the course of action he had always protested had allowed the Sith Emperor Nefarius to overthrow the Republic on Coruscant and become the ruler of the galaxy. Josiah came up with numerous plans to reform the Bendu Order after the Bendu arrived back home, but Ussej did not want to hear anything of it.

Weeks later, the Shadourians attacked Kal’Shabbol for what they believed to be a Bendu betrayal, leaving dozens of Bendu and hundreds of citizens dead, and even more injured. Ussej told Josiah that he was called to see the Shaman of the Whills once again and that he was given Excelsior, the Sword of the Skywalker, to take with him on one final mission to defeat the Shadourians and kill Carden Mannux. From what Josiah heard, he could sense that Ussej knew it would be a one way trip. Josiah wished him well and, upon Ussej’s departure which also served as his resignation, he was elected High Priest. It was then that he put his plans for the Bendu Order into action.

Under Josiah’s leadership and the memory of the mistakes of the Bac family, an age of awakening was brought about on Kal’Shabbol. During that time, the Bendu Order rebuilt itself from the ground up. Not only were there changes in appearance to a more formal and sometimes monk-like style, but there was also a change in the way the order viewed itself. Josiah essentially immortalized the Bac family, saying that it had helped the Bendu realize what happens when pride got the better of people, especially those held in such high regard.

Kal’Shabbol itself also went through many changes. Fearing annihilation, a few dozen citizens began protesting the Bendu-led government. They stated that the recklessness of the Bendu during the war was what caused the attack on Kal’Shabbol. Though the Bendu certainly could not deny those claims, they were not prepared to sacrifice their mandate as the protectors of Kal’Shabbol. They had already done that during the war and there were massive consequences. The few dozen protestors were eventually exiled by the citizens of Kal’Shabbol to Had Abaddon where they were not heard from again. Following the incident, the Bendu returned to their old ways of peace and harmony, only involving themselves in conflicts within the Ashlan Expanse.

However, Josiah wished to change, only once more, the policy of non-intervention in the affairs of others. For weeks, he spent a great deal of time alone in his chambers writing down many more reforms for the order. However, he could not keep his mind off of the fact that the Bendu had done so much harm to the galaxy by exiling the Jedi Order off of Coruscant and into unknown worlds. Josiah realized that the time would soon come where they would help the Jedi Order rebuild the galaxy, though he also knew that he would first have to finish the training of many of the orders most promising students.

Five years after the age of awakening began, one of the more promising, yet disturbing students named Darius was assigned to Bendu Knight Lillianne Crasse, one of Josiah’s former students, for Bendu training. They trained for many weeks until Lillianne came to Josiah with concern over the hold an ancient medallion had over Darius. Josiah agreed to speak with him and he did just that a few hours later. Josiah immediately knew that Darius was being less than truthful with him about the nature of the medallion and the addiction that he held towards it. At the end of their discussion, Darius admitted that he drained the life out of a man when he was younger, thereby killing him. Instinctively, Josiah placed him under house arrest until further notice. However, he would not begin an official investigation until speaking to Lillianne, whom he had already planned on speaking to the next morning at the shores of the Ashlan Sea in regards to the Bendu leaving Kal’Shabbol to help the Jedi Order....

After a few RPs to establish this character's personality, etc., I've finally been able to complete an adequate profile for him.

Feedback would be appreciated.

Heh. Excellent profile, as always. Wish I had the attention span to write that much. It'll be interesting to see what else you do with him.

Boromir, I am assuming The Skywalker was often neglected by his father because he preferred Josiah.
