Journey thread

I wanted to make a thread that will detail my character's personal development and his journey to a world where he will eventually find an NPc that will train him in some various uses of the force. The story arc should last at least a few months before progressing my character in power and abilities. I wanted to see what the policy on character growth was and how threads interact and play together before I made a thread.

The main issue I have is that I do not see any of the factions that exist, suit my character's needs or personality. I'm a reclusive jedi with a thirst for knowledge and personal power. Therefore joining and submitting to others is anathema to what he stands for.

Thoughts on how best I should begin?

Perhaps he could get involved in a faction that has spies since he desires independence. As a spy, he would be fairly autonomous given that he have little oversight considering he's not in the nation that he works for.

I don't want to join a faction though. I mean, He desires to mainly work for his own ends. He might pick up a bounty that suits his own goals, but mainly he just goes and does whatever he feels needs to be done. Right now, and for the forseeable future, he needs to learn more about the force. And joining the other Force sensitive factions would mean that he would have to be subordinate to the other leaders of that guild. It's not something my character would do.

He wouldn't temporarily join a place to better himself?

Joining a faction isn't exactly a permenant thing...

I am having my character Blackwell (Moon in my sig) be trained (temporarily) as a Shade. After that, he's going independent. But Spies....hmmm...you could add to his history, change it around, so he was trained to be a spy, but since discovering his Force Sensitivity, he forsakes his subterfuge for the Jedi's path...I'd be happy to have Blackwell train you in the Force after his own training.
