“I remember when I wasn’t the soldier I am now: I remember it clear as day. I remember when the light of kindness was forever extinguished in my blue eyes. I remember when the hope for a better day through peace was eternally destroyed. It was the day I was shot in the chest four times. It was the day I was shot pointblank in the head. It was the day I died. But it was also the day death itself feared me and let me rise anew; it was the day when I was born into the being that I am. It was the day I became Archangel.” – Journal entry from the newly christened Archangel; formally known as Judah Cross.
The man known as Judah is long dead. He died where I was birthed: on that battlefield, the mock, cruel womb of my resurrection and reformation. But I still retain the memories of him. I still maintain the thoughts that Judah once possessed. Unlike me, Judah was not born of strife and bloodshed. No. Judah was born in Bastion in a well to do family in a well to do setting to a barmaid mother and a formal Imperial soldier father. His father was a man even I could respect. Gruff, calloused, and brutally unforgiving in the face of weakness; he’d have been a better Mando than an Imperial trooper. So when little Judah came home from his first day of school with bruises, whelps, and blood smeared across his face his father only stared with cold contempt. This may sound cruel but it was what Judah needed. He needed to be created – forged – if you will, into a weapon or die trying. Weakness would not be tolerated: thank god for Lieutenant Cross. However, his mother stopped at every opportunity to remind him to have a good, kind heart, and to never use his training unwisely. She was what kept Judah from turning into something like me. No, that kid was a damn sweetheart because of her and that’s probably why he’s dead.
Besides that there isn’t much to say besides his enlistment into the Stormtrooper Corps by the Lieutenant’s request and even then, there really isn’t much to tell. The kid was talented in all honesty. His aptitude tests were high and his former training with his father had greatly increased his overall combat effectiveness even before the Corps. In all truth, there was a zero percent chance for the kid to get turned down, even I know that. So after enlistment, Sweetheart was thrown into basic training with the rest of them at the famed Orion academy. Yea, he passed, and at damn near the top of his class. Impressive I suppose. Judah was shipped out mere days after completion. Politicians had a war to win and he had a war to fight.
I can’t even tell you the godforsaken planet he was placed on for that battle. By the time he got there it resembled hell rather than the habitable planet it may have been not so long ago. All the fauna had been burned down by fires and the air was shrouded in a veil of black smoke which perpetually filled the air. He fought alongside the rest of his men in the trenches, utterly annihilating the opposing forces against him. It was an utter slaughter and the Imperium had already claimed the victory. That’s when his company was ordered to press upwards to eliminate the remaining hostiles. And that’s where everything went wrong. Volleys of blasterfire met him and his comrades as they pressed over an embankment into enemy territory. His platoon was riddled with shots and utterly obliterated in mere seconds. Private Cross was among them. I remember his last memories more vividly than anything else. His blue eyes looked toward that rarely clear sky as blood pooled out of his open chest wounds. One hand frantically pressed on the open holes to staunch the blood. He was a lone survivor, kneeling among a pile of his dead brethren as he reflected on his life. That’s when an officer pressed the barrel to his head and fired.
That’s when I was birthed, that was where the man known as Private Judah Cross died, and that’s where I – Archangel – rose anew. The bastard should have double tapped. If he had there wouldn’t have been anything left to save: there would have been nothing left to deliver perdition.
“Subject has been placed in bacta for an extended period of time to recuperate from his wounds and after surgery procedures. He sustained massive damage to muscle tissue and even organs yet still was capable of overcoming the death that should have been instantaneous. We’ve deduced that his body weight is lower than what would be considered visually accurate due to the massive formation of lean muscle mass rather than bulk. Although he does have good bulk to his muscles, they have been specifically trained to not be formed like that of a body builder but more of a more sleek design. Through our analysis we’ve deduced that although his muscles are relatively powerful, endurance seems to be the main goal of his intense training. Subject has been rumored to be able to hold two 30kg weights out in front of him for extended amounts of time. “Subject has been listed at approximately 1.8 meters, making him shorter than our fair share of soldiers that we usually treat. After looking at his weight and comparing it to his height we have deduced that he is above the usual lean muscle mass weight for others of his size which allows me to safely verify the rumors of his previous strength as through dedicated training such feats are indeed possible. Subject’s outward physical shape has been described as near perfect. His muscles are perfectly formed and shaped despite the kelodal scars created on his body due to the battle wounds he has sustained. In short, his body truly is, outwardly, inwardly, and all around, in neigh perfect shape through rigorous physical activity. “I’d like to document my findings on the subjects scarring and our treatments to stop the kelodal tissue from rapidly expanding. After having the subject recuperate inside of the bacta tank we noticed that the wounds which were inflicted upon him during the battle had scarred. Although such scarring is not unheard of, we noted that his scarification was rather unique in that it formed kelodal tissues rather than the usual hypertrophic tissue. To stop the kelodal tissue from rapidly expanding we injected a specified serum into the tank which quickly eradicated the expanding kelodal tissue. "At first we were confused why the holes seemed to be formed out of an archaic bullet design rather than the usual intense burning we find from blasters but we were later updated that the GA troops which had fired on his platoon had resorted to making these primitive ammunition based weapons out of scarcity - in other words, slugthrowers. We later had to perform addition surgery to remove these fragments from his body. No additional injury was sustained by these procedures. As of now, the subject has four rings of kelodal tissue with one being on his left pectoral, one on his left oblique, and two on his right side just off from his abdominal muscles. His hair is a dark brown in color which is very near black in coloration. His face holds strong facial features while still maintaining what my female staff has dubbed a “pretty” look. “We have just received confirmation to awaken the subject (that we now know to be a former Lieutenants' son) whose name, from the data we’ve received, appears to be Judah Cross. From his psych records before the battle he has been described as friendly, personably, optimistic, and prone to take steps to ensure nonlethal measures if possible. In short, he’s a soldier with a heart and we need more of those on this side of the war. I’ve seen people come through here who are borderline psychopaths. We plan to notify a psychiatrist as soon as possible and get him up to date on Subje- I mean Judah’s current situation before initiating a mental analysis to make sure he’s combat ready still.” - Alexander Loos – Imperial Surgeon – ENTRY 6
“The psychiatrist has notified us of Judah’s currently unstable mental condition. Judah seems to have developed an intense form of PTSD due to his near death traumatic experience. The psychiatrist also worries that Judah, due to his PTSD, may have developed D.I.D. – an acronym for dissociative identity disorder. However, this may not be the case as the psychiatrist claims that D.I.D. patients often switch between their two personalities a multitude of time throughout a day under certain circumstances. Judah on the other hand, has not switched once under any circumstances we have subjected him to throughout the evaluation which leads us to believe that it may be due to the brain trauma he occurred – rather than D.I.D. – that he has taken on an entirely new personality which has consumed and replaced his old one. Whatever the reason, this new person is in no way (according to the psychiatrist) the man that was described in Judah’s previous psych report. “Archangel: that is the name the man formerly known as Judah has decided upon. Juda- I mean Archangel, after undergoing multiple psychological evaluations by a multitude of psychiatrists has been listed as an entirely different beast than what Judah once was. His personality type is reserved which cleverly masks the monster within. Sadistic and filled with homicidal tendencies, Archangel is a being of malice to those he sees deserving of his twisted form of redemption, but, as stated; such tendencies are hidden cleverly behind a rather reticent persona. Archangel openly admitted that if even children stood between him and the mission’s success or if they held any offensive against him that he would brutally maim and kill them: callous could never be a more fitting word. But, he is not disloyal. In fact, he believes that through fighting and crushing the Imperium’s foes that he will be able to spread the perdition that they so rightly deserve meaning that he will follow the chain of command if it is of valid reasoning. He seems driven by a twisted and oh so corrupt religious fervor to deliver righteous fury upon those that he believes must receive it. I hope the universe will show mercy on whoever must deal with this newly formed monstrosity of impurity. “Good news has been received by Dr. Lichen, a renowned psychiatrist in the field of traumatic stress induced disorders. He claims that after reviewing Archangel’s files that Archangel is merely Judah’s PTSD afflicted brain's way of coping with the devastating near death trauma that he experienced. He claims that Judah may be able to regain his original persona should he regain his original mental capacity by overcoming (by treatment of course) his severe PTSD. I certainly hope such a cure is possible as this boy is currently too unstable for anything other than sitting in our facility under watchful eyes.” – Alexander Loos – Imperial Surgeon – ENTRY 9
“The blasted Imperium has gone mad! After receiving intel revolving around the newly christened Archangel, the chain of military command has ordered that he be reinstated into active combat! After attempting to reason with them the insanity and potential disasters which could be associated with Jud- I mean Archangel’s early release without proper medical treatment they told me that I would be fired should I raise another complaint against this course of action. Perhaps I have gone mad to care so much for this boy but I have grown attached to him over this period of time. After all, he’s been like a son to me considering the amount of care and effort I’ve put into him. I will find a way to undo the damage which has been done! For now though, I will find a way to stay close to Archangel and monitor his progress. You know what they say, keep your friends close and your enemies closer. The only way for me to reverse this will require intense observation and close proximity with Arch- no! His name is Judah! “I have been allowed to travel with Judah and maintain supremacy over the project after I explained my partially made up importance to Judah’s wellbeing. Due to my previous complaint against the reinstatement of Judah the chain of command has seen fit to have me stalked and watched relatively close at all times. For now, I can do little to help Judah but in time they will let their guards down to allow me access to aid him in his mental struggles. Now I wait and pretend to be the loyal servant. “The horror which I was forced to observe today is simply too shocking for any of my words to accurately describe. Judah was pit against two men, both prisoners who had been told that should they defeat him that they would be set free. The promise was obviously too good to be true though. Anyone who has read Judah’s past martial experiences would know that trying to overcome him when you’re entirely untrained is simply impossible. The prisoners were each given a shiv while Judah was to remain unarmed. It didn’t matter, I knew it would end the same regardless of whether he had a weapon or not - especially with the Archangel persona currently being the dominant one - was no way that these men were coming out with anything less than two broken necks or severed spines. But what I saw… was much more gruesome. The first kill was swift and precise but the second… dear god the second… Archangel (I refer to him as this for what he did was simply too cruel for anyone other than the sadist Archangel persona to commit) chose to pin him to the ground and slowly sliced away at the man’s chest, arms, neck, and face with the con’s own shiv. By the end of it, there was a pool of blood and skin around the convict as he wailed a sound as horrible as any I’d ever heard. Then Archangel silenced him by shoving the shiv through his eye socket. May god help any person who chooses to fight against him. His style is powerful yet fast and utterly merciless, brutal, and effective. The amount of pleasure he gets as he mutilates the last victim is simply terrifying and I believe he will commit this act in each battle if he can as I believe this is another showing of his religious form of punishment onto those he views as wicked. Additional note: When Judah was forced to undergo the marksmanship test he passed with near perfect results. His aim was spot on and well trained. As a result, it has been confirmed that whether he is fighting unarmed or in ranged combat, he is devastatingly effective. – Alexander Loos – Imperial Surgeon – ENTRY 12

When his body was tested for body fat percentage it came back only slightly higher than 3% which is simply unfathomable to most. His body, during the trials that were undertaken seems to be able to take a surprising amount of damage despite its sleeker format. However, it’s nothing too impressive compared to others but compared to someone with his type of physique it’s rather impressive.” – Alexander Loos – Imperial Surgeon – ENTRY 13
“The uh, persuasion capabilities as well as basic reasoning and moral viewpoints were tested today. As mentioned in my detailed psych logs, he is not one for idle chatting and as a result any persuasion attempts were pretty useless even with his attractive looks. In short, the personably, friendly man that may have existed before the Archangel personality has been completely repressed. Archangel is cold, homicidal, and sadistic and none of those go well when it comes to the art of persuasion. Despite this, investigators sent down to observe for the higher ups in command choose not to care for that as long as he takes orders and luckily for them, Archangel is relatively compliant and loyal to their demands; especially when questioned on the length of the atrocities he would go to (although he most likely would do it out of enjoyment rather than just obedience) as I’ve also already detailed beforehand.
