DESCRIPTION​

The K-222 Aero-Interceptor, sometimes called the Tri-Deuce, is a combat airspeeder manufactured by zZip Defense Concepts, a division of zZip Product Concepts Limited. Designed for the planetary defense market, the Aero-Interceptor is not a full-fledged spacecraft, but is just as fast and maneuverable as most full-fledged starfighters inside a planetary atmosphere. The type is significantly less costly and easier to maintain than most starfighters, as well.

The Tri-Deuce is potent for an atmospheric craft, equipped with a pair of medium laser cannons, as well as a 6-shot concussion missile launcher. Able to reach a top speed of some 2,600 kph, or around mach 2.1, the type is extremely fast compared to the performance of most starfighters inside a planetary atmosphere, coupled with excellent maneuverability. Although it cannot follow an adversary into space, it can fly to the very edge and back.

The K-222 is mainly used by planetary militias and low-rent mercenaries. In combat, such craft are often used to hunt dropships in their descent phase, or to engage less optimized extra-atmospheric fighters. They also have some ground attack capability.

LEGALITY​

Legal. Though optionally armed, the K-222 Aero-Interceptor is considered an armed airspeeder by most governments, and thus will require certain licensing and registration on any civilized planet.
