LIGHTSABER/SWORD FORMS
Form II: Makashi
Finesse. Artfulness. Economy.
Kalen is a master of Makashi, the form considered by some to be the the ultimate refinement of lightsaber-to-lightsaber combat. Makashi relies on the usage of swift, elegant, powerful and accurate techniques, while using as little energy as possible. Having mastered the form, Kalen can execute offensive and defensive moves with extreme precision and minimal effort, thereby tiring out his opponent. Having picked up this form in order to compensate for his weakness as a teenager, Kalen relies on timing, accuracy, and skill, rather than brute strength, using jabs, parries and light cuts rather than slashes, blocks and chops. He varies between the usage of one blade or both, sometimes even joining them together by their locking mechanism or by a fiber cord, flailing them about by the cord. But he is yet to be able to effectively use the blades when connected with the cords and as such avoids using them in that form.
SKILLS & STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES
Kalen is a very smart and sharp person whose greatest strength is his mind. Not the most physically strong person he has trained his mind to be sharper and faster than most of his opponents. He is quick on his feet and can be sltealthy if required. Born and raised in poverty he learned to fend for himself and used his wit and charms to stay alive. He can also be lazy at times and often looks for the easy route out of situations. He is not the best hand-to-hand combatant, having had always used his wits and quick tongue to wriggle his way out of tricky situations. He is highly resourceful, and determined and because of this and his strong-willed stubbornness he almost always gets the job done, one way or another.
He is very sharp and observant, his life on the streets having made him street-smart. He solves complex puzzles as a hobby and is skilled at Dejarik and Chess. He is also a skilled mechanic and has a natural knack for fixing things, his skills being a mixture of professional training and intuitive tinkering. Despite having lived in poverty for much of his life and had little access to computers, after he joined the Jedi Order and then in his time in the Shade Order he has shown himself to be a skilled hacker.

LIGHTSABER
Set of paired Curved-hilt lightsabers which can be joined together at the hilt to function as a lightstaff. Specifically built for use in Form II, they allow for more precise movements as well as near-perfect flexibility when engaging in lightsaber-to-lightsaber combat. The curved hilts fit perfectly into Aden's palms, granting him better blade control and allowing for greater precision and strength.
PERSONALITY
Kalen is a smart and talented person who is very confident in himself and even a little cocky and arrogant. Having grown up in poverty and lived through great hardships in his short life, he is greatly moved by true suffering of others and becomes sympathetic upon sensing their pain. When he jined the order he was for all purposes a typical smart-aleck teenager with a lightning-fast wit and a sarcastic and deadpan sense of humor complemented by a very keen intellect. At times goofy, optimistic and exceedingly hyperactive, he possesses a happy go lucky sort of attitude and always has a witty comeback and can out-talk almost anyone. He is also very observant and perceptive, talents which he has slowly honed during the duration of his training and beyond. He is also naturaly inquisitive and very interested in things going around him. He believes in giving people a second chance and thinks that everyone has a degree of inherent good in them. He can be slightly lazy at times and this has gotten him into trouble on more than one occasion. He is intrigued by puzzles and other such intellectual activities. Having grown up on the streets and lived on the wrong side of the law for most of his youth, he initially found it difficult to come to terms with the Jedi way, though after years spent in the Order he has finally left his old life behind, more or less. He is often faced with situations where his instincts, trained through years of life as a thief, used to come in direct conflict with what should be appropriate behavior for a Jedi. But during his time in the Order he learnt to control those instincts though he does not ignore them if the situation calls for it. But despite his upbringing he possesses tremendous strength of character. He refuses to give up when he believes something is wrong and will even break a rule to do what he thinks is right. Despite being a thief and a prankster as a child, his moral compass has always pointed in the right direction even if it sometimes sways a little. His training to the rank of Shade Knight have made him a more compassionate and wiser person than the street rat he was when he left the streets.
HISTORY
Kalen was born in one of the most dark and dingy sectors of Coruscant. His father abandoned him and his mother when he was just two years old. His mother barely made a living for the two of them. Due to this he was forced to begin to fend for himself from the moment he was capable of doing so. His mother was arrested when she attacked a Galactic Republic official who tried to molest her. Kalen never saw his mother after that as she was invovled in a brawl in the prison and had her sentence increased. She died in prison a few years later. Kalen became part of a small group kids like him living off the streets, stealing and conning for a living. His life took a turn for the better when a victim he tried to con turned out to be a jedi in disguise. The jedi noticed Kalen's force potential and returned for him after his mission was completed. From then Kalen became a Jedi, training in the academy until he was finally ready to became a padawan.
He continued his journey towards knighthood under the guidance of a Twi'lek Knight, Kalza'Duras. But at some point he met a master from the Shade Order and upo laerning of the Order he realized he felt a greater connection with the beliefs of the Shade Order with regards to the Force. So he left the Jedi and jopined the Shade Order. It was around this time that he finally met his father once more. While on a mission for the Order he ran into him in a small cantina on Correlia. There he learned that his father was dying, years of drinking and intoxication ending his life before his time. But his father, in one of his rare instances of sobriety begged Kalen for forgiveness for being a rotten father. At the same time he refused accepting Kalen's help, telling him that he had hardly a few months to live. He then went on to tell Kalen about his half brother, his son from another woman. If finding out that he had a half brother wasn't enough shocking news for a day, his father informed him that his brother, Jagged, was now living and training amongst the Bogan. Having told him so much his father passed out in front of him. Taking him to a hospital Kalen learnt that his father had but a few hours to live. Ignoring the doctors' instruction to stop drinking after his final diagnosis had been done a few months back had accelerated his death even more. The doctors informed Kalen that his father might pass away without regaining consciousness. But as fate would have it he woke up one last time and with his last breath told Kalen that he was proud of him and begged him to help his brother.
After that Kalen began trying to find out what information he could about his brother, so much so that it almost became an obsession for him. But finally when he had given up hopes of learning anything about his brother he had a vision of his own future and his brother's. In the vision he was older and he saw himself engaging his brother in a lightsaber duel. He spent the next few weeks contemplating on the dream and finally realized that by thinking about the future he was wasting his present and so he gave up on his search for Jagged. Immediately after coming to this conclusion he felt freer than he had in along time and taking that as a sign from the Force that he had made the right decision, moved on with his life. A few years later he was promoted to the rank of Knight.
