Affiliation:

Made by BioTech Industries Repli-Limb Prosthetic Replacements Division (Wookeipedia link)
Ownership:
Karlo Daal (link in sig)

Intent:
My intent with this tech is twofold. First, to provide a cool piece for the character's backstory that can be used practically (such as a lighter for cigars) and second, to provide a prosthesis that blends in with the rest of the body or looks natural. This is different from other prosthetic arms for these reasons: the personal lighter capability and the uncommon natural appearance. It also has an optional phrik upgrade, depending on your budget (in Karlo's case, he could afford it but barely).

Model/Name:
KDPA-001 Prosthesis
Type:
Prosthetic arm

Power Supply:
Uses a common flammable oil. Can burn for a total time of 6 minutes if the fuel vein is full. When It needs to be refueled, It can be unscrewed from the elbow and gassed up again.

Sensors:
Provides the user with an almost natural sense of touch, and reduced sense of pain.

Size:
The size of the user's arm from the elbow to the fingers. The size varies per person. In Karlo's case, It'd be about 50cm long (sorry if this is off a bit, I'm not used to the metric system.)

Composition: A layer of Phrik (optional) and some underlying common metals. There are also some vein-like tubes along each finger originating from the elbow, used to store and transport the oil.

Description:
The device has three main functions. First, It provides a functional and natural-looking/feeling replacement for a lost limb, and as such, has most of the functions of a regular hand, except for the lowered pain reception. Second, its fingers can be telepathically popped backward at the joint of the third phalange of each finger (second in the case of the thumb), opening a tube for its small flame to come through, allowing for the lighter functionality. Third, the arm is made of phrik to allow for some defense against lightsabers as well as greater durability overall.

Hi,

Moved.

FYI, all unapproved technology write ups should be posted on the "Unapproved " section of the technology board.

Thanks!

I'd rather not see a flamethrower in a prosthetic.

Yeah, that's more than a bit much. Nevermind how little space there'd be in a prosthetic. Not only would you need servo motors, braces and girders to replace tendons, muscles, sinnew, and bone, but also a ton of wiring in order to correctly simulate a human limb, especially when you consider you have to transmit correct signals for fine control, pressure, tactile sensations... you wouldn't have the space to squeeze in a high-pressure tank filled with highly combustible materials in there, along with a safe method of ejecting it.

That, and it would have to be in a method that would mean easy maintenance, replacing the fuel tank, easy to remove in case of damage or it gets clogged... and consider what'd happen should your arm take damage. Not only do you run the risk of the arm not working, like any other prosthetic, but this one would EXPLODE, showering you in fire and lethal shrapnel. You'd basically be strapping a time bomb on your shoulder socket.

@Clayton Alright, I figured the flamethrower was kind of a stretch. Can I at least keep the lighter function with a small vein-sized tube to contain the fuel?

@Clayton I've taken out the flamethrower parts but kept the lighter function. Any other changes I should make?
